Monster Hunter: World TGS 2017 special stage: more character and Palico creation
After teasing character and Palico creation in Monster Hunter: World during its special stage event on the first day of Tokyo Game Show 2017, Capcom held another special stage for Monster Hunter: World today showcasing character and Palico creation more in-depth.
First, here’s an overview of what you’ll see:
Character Creation
Presets: 10 Hunter presets are available to choose from.
Face types: choose from more than 19 options.
Skin color: use the color palette for detailed customization.
Age: select your age. Wrinkle depth can also be adjusted.
Hairdo: choose from a total of 23 options. Color (presets and color bar), saturation, and brightness can also be adjusted.
Eyebrows: choose from more than 12 options.
Forehead: choose from more than 19 options.
Eyes: choose from more than 25 options. Up, down, left, and right positional adjustments are possible, and the colors of the left and right eyes can be individually adjusted. Eyelash length (short, normal, long) can also be adjusted.
Nose: choose from more than 19 options. Up and down positional adjustments are possible.
Mouth: choose from more than 19 options. Up and down positional adjustments are possible.
Moustache: choose from more than 19 options. Color can also be adjusted.
Paint: choose two from more than 29 options. Each can be repositioned up, down, left, and right, their size can be adjusted, and their color can be changed.
Facial expression: choose from a total of five options.
Underwear: choose from a total of four options. Color can also be adjusted.
Voice: choose from more than 16 options.
Beginning Equipment: choose from leather, chain, or to remain in your underwear.
After you adjust all of these options, you can change the lighting to confirm the completion of your character.
Felyne Palico Creation
Presets: 12 Felyne Palico presets are available to choose from.
Hair: Hair length, thickness, color (presets and color bar), brightness, and saturation can be configured.
Patterns: choose from a total of four options. Colors can also be adjusted for each part.
Eyes: choose from a total of six options. The colors of the left and right eyes can be individually adjusted.
Ears: choose from a total of five options.
Tail: choose from a total of four options.
Underskin: color (presets and color bar), brightness, and saturation can be adjusted.
Beginning Equipment: choose either “leather cat” or remain naked.
Voice: a voice can also be selected.
Monster Hunter: World is due out worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26. In Japan, it will only be released for PlayStation 4. A PC version is due out at a later date.

■ Character Creation
Various Customizations to Make a Hunter All Your Own
Create and customize the appearance of the Hunter that will act as your avatar. A wealth of parts are being prepared, as well as presets, allowing you to create a unique character all your own with various options for customization.
The character you created will appear both in the game and in movie scenes.
Palicoes Can Also be Customized
Players can also create their very own Felyne Palico, which will become their hunting companion.

■ Special Equipment
In Monster Hunter: World, there is “special equipment” that have special effects, and when used as items can trigger extraordinary effects. There is a cooldown period for reuse.
Ghillie Mantle
Conceals you from enemy view temporarily. The effect expires if you perform an attack or take damage.
Rocksteady Mantle
Eliminates damage reactions, prevents wind effects, protects your hearing, and grants tremor resistance. You also receive less damage from attacks.
—A hunter reloads his bowgun and moves in to attack without fear of the Pukei-Pukei’s tongue attack.
Challenger Mantle
Prompts monsters to target you more often and makes them easier to lure. The effect expires if you are attacked.
—Lure the monster to where you want it, such as to a wider area or trap, and hunt it in more favorable conditions.
Glider Mantle
Increases jump airtime and grants the power to ride strong winds. Also makes it easier to mount monsters.
—By using the Glider Mantle, you can move quickly from specific places where strong winds blow upward to a place in the sky.
Monster Hunter: World is due out worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26. In Japan, it will only be released for PlayStation 4. A PC version is due out at a later date.
