The Game Awards ~ Live on December 5 in Las Vegas
The Game Awards颁奖典礼将于2014.12.5举行


  今年将不会再举办VGA以及VGX了,取而代之的则是由索尼、微软、任天堂以及维尔福赞助的新活动The Game Awards,值得一提的是在本次活动将会同步在XBOX LIVE、PSN以及Steam平台直播,同时维尔福的在线商店Steam将会举行限期打折活动,各位玩家们可以关注一下。

  就像之前的VGA以及VGX,The Game Awards将会有以下特色活动,颁奖、全球范围内首次公开的消息,音乐表演以及其它惊喜活动。

  整个活动将有以下人参加:

  小岛秀夫(MGS制作人)

  Martin Tremblay(华纳兄弟互动娱乐主管):“今年在游戏界中将会是令人兴奋地一年,因为我们将能和朋友、同事还有全球的粉丝们一起庆祝The Game Awards。”

On December 5, videogame creators, press, and fans around the world will come together to celebrate all things videogames with The Game Awards 2014. Built to honor every aspect of the world’s most dynamic form of entertainment, The Game Awards 2014 will highlight the cultural significance of the $100B a year gaming industry with awards, world premieres, musical performances, and appearances by game developers, eSports players and online content creators. The Game Awards 2014 is a new show created specifically to acknowledge the place of videogames at the center of modern entertainment and culture.

“The Game Awards 2014 will celebrate our collective love of games and the passion we all hold in our hearts for this incredible entertainment medium,” said Geoff Keighley, Producer, The Game Awards 2014. “Gaming has never been stronger, and this year we will recognize the fastest-selling launch year in history for new game consoles, the rise of eSports and mobile gaming around the globe, and preview the games that will make 2015 the biggest year yet.”

Airing live from the state-of-the-art AXIS Theater in front the industry and the public, The Game Awards 2014 will be viewable around the world across a record number of gaming devices, platforms, media partners and services. More details on ways to watch the show will be released in the coming weeks at thegameawards.com Public tickets for the awards will be available for sale via TicketMaster on Tuesday, November 11.

CESA公开TGS调查结果PSP拥有率最高最想买PS4

  CESA近日公布了TGS2014用户调查报告书。该调查是针对到场者进行的问卷调查,下面就针对部分结果进行分析详解,其中图表左边蓝色部分为TGS2014现场调查结果,右边绿色部分为2013年针对一般民众调查的结果。

  图一:目前拥有主机的情况

  70.2%的家庭拥有PSP,而70.1%的家庭都拥有3DS,这两款掌机可谓不分上下。不过PSP用户中有接近一半的人都已经不再游玩了,利用率较低,情况类似的还有NDS。而几款新近推出的主机WiiU、PS4、XboxOne利用率都非常高。值得一提的是,从调查看在日本WiiU用户要多于PS4用户。

  图二:主机购买意向调查

  23.1%的人都准备购买PS4,以绝对优势力压其他主机,可见PS4是很有潜力的。排在后面的分别是WiiU、PSV、XboxOne和3DS。目前在日本3DS的拥有率非常高,市场接近饱和,因此购买意向并不是很强烈。值得一提的是进行该调查时New3DS已经发布并提供试玩,看来反响也很一般。

  图三:喜欢的游戏类型

  果然日本玩家还是比较喜欢角色扮演游戏,其次是动作和冒险类,培养型模拟和音乐节奏也非常有人气,而第一人称射击也逐渐被日本玩家所接受,不过欧美游戏的另外两大代表“车”和“球”排名都不是很高。至于最不受欢迎的游戏,占卜、交流、学习、实机模拟、桌面游戏等等,前面几个比较好理解,桌面游戏看来玩家还是喜欢摸实物啊。

Wander: A Non-combat MMO Coming to PS4

Hello, everyone! This is Crystal from Wander, here to tell you a little bit about ourselves and what we’re doing way down here on the bottom of the Earth (AKA Australia).

Wander is the brainchild of Melbourne resident Loki Davison, who noticed a shocking absence of games that didn’t primarily focus on violence in order to tell a story, and decided there was a niche that desperately needed to be filled. That — coupled with a slight preoccupation with flight, travelling, and music — led to the conception of Wander, an MMO game that lets you explore a majestic environment in several different forms – a giant tree, a soaring griffin, a sea creature and more.

“I was somewhat of a nomad for a long time. I wandered around Central Asia, Siberia, the Arctic and Himalayas. Growing up I played a lot of MUDs (text based MMO games) and wanted to make a game that was atmospheric, relaxing and multiplayer. Wander draws on a lot of that experience. I wanted to collaboratively explore in a game.” – Loki

You start off deep in a forest you can’t remember, occupying a form you don’t recognize. Clues can be found by examining your surroundings, and you may even encounter others like yourself who can help you and share information. During your journey you may also hear the mysterious, siren-like tones of opera singers, and following these songs will lead you to even more exciting discoveries, like the ability to change your shape and acquire new ways of exploring the world.

Playable characters in Wander include the Oren – a walking, sentient tree, and the form you occupy at the beginning of the game; the griffin – with the power of flight; the azertash – with the ability to swim and breathe underwater; and the swift and agile hira. Each of these forms has several unique and gorgeous variants, all with their own cultures, backstories, and specific ways of interacting with other forms and tribes. Along your way you’ll discover lorestones, mysterious records that teach you bits of the history of the planet and its inhabitants. Eventually, if you’re lucky, you might even learn the ultimate secrets of this mysterious and beautiful world.

You’ll be able to try out Wander at PlayStation Experience, next month in Las Vegas. We’re very excited about our first visit to Vegas, where we’ll be showing off some great new content. We’ve got a new weather system in, with storms and wind (things get wet when it rains… we’re really happy about that) and lots of new narrative and cultures. We’re hoping to be ready to show off some of the Azertash underwater city as well.

Wander is set to be released in March 2015, but before that you can catch us on our Twitch channel for a very special series that will showcase live gameplay with an original story featuring a vibrant cast of characters, just to give players a little taste of the narrative and role-playing potential of Wander. We’re pretty excited — and a little scared — to be the first ever live drama broadcast on Twitch! The first episode will be live tonight at 4pm PST.

Official Informtaion- The future of Runemaster

Hi everyone,

I have some news to share with you today regarding Runemaster. After much internal debate we have made the decision to freeze development of the project until further notice and move the development team working on it to other projects within Paradox Development Studio.

This was not an easy decision to make - Runemaster was a very ambitious project for us, and the team working on it brought all of their passion, dedication, and talent to the table. Despite our best efforts and a couple of re-scopes, Runemaster in its current form was unable to live up to the standards we set for ourselves here at Paradox.

Runemaster was a different type of game for us, and even though we were not able to fully realize our vision for it, we will take the lessons we learned to heart as we move forward with new endeavors. We will also look into how we can re-use the best parts of the game in other ways.

Our aim is to let all the talented developers who worked on the project to remain with Paradox Development Studio and bring their expertise to the other great games currently in development.

In fact, you’ll be able to play the game tomorrow on PS4 at the PlayStation Experience. If you’re going, be sure to stop by Sony’s booth to say hi. We’ll have various people at their booth all day showing off the game.

Stay tuned to our blog for more details on the PS4 version in the future. We still have a ton of work to do, but we’re excited to finally be bringing Dungeon Defenders back to a console. We’ve just completed our first controller pass (it needs a bunch of work!) and are exciting to dig into some other features, like local co-op and a controller-based UI. And yes, all of those features will also be coming to the PC version!

Madness Awaits You…In the Darkest Dungeon

Greetings from the Abyss! We are Red Hook Studios, an independent five-person team working out of Vancouver, BC, Canada.

We’re all big fans of the dungeon crawling genre here, going all the way back to classics like Bard’s Tale and Eye of the Beholder (1 &2!). We decided we wanted to honour that lineage and make an RPG in the classic vein. However, we also wanted to do something different at the same time. Something unique and challenging in its own way. Something memorable.

Then it hit us: Stress.

We all experience it, especially those in particularly grueling circumstances. Like being 500 feet underground and running out of food, fighting horrific monsters, surrounded by all kinds of unnameable awfulness, for instance. It turns out, being a dungeon delver is rather a rough job.

The Affliction System: Even heroes are human!

Stress is a central mechanic in Darkest Dungeon – everything your heroes see, do and have done to them affects their stress levels, both positively and negatively. Land a big crit? Everyone cheers up a bit. Watch a fellow adventurer get rabies from a feral dog bite? Not so cheery.

As an adventure goes on, heroes will get increasingly unnerved by what they’ve experienced. Once they hit their maximum stress capacity, they’ll roll an ‘Affliction Check’ – success enters them into a heroic state, inspiring allies, and bolstering their abilities. Much more likely however, they will fall victim to their stress and become branded with an Affliction – the moniker for a family of stress-driven behavior – such as Hopelessness or Masochism, Abusiveness, Irrationality, etc.

Afflicted characters are like loaded guns, you never know when they’ll go off! They will periodically ‘act out’, taking an action on their own imperative. A Masochist might advance in combat, eager to have their blood spilled, or they may refuse to be healed, fascinated with their own wounds. Conversely, watch for a Selfish character to retreat in a fight, use supplies unnecessarily, or even steal from the party’s gold!

Bottom line, as your heroes lose their grip, you as the player lose your grip on them! We think it’s an exciting, unpredictable element that challenges players to make the best of an imperfect situation. Can you succeed even when the party is fracturing?

Heroes will also develop a variety of long-lasting “quirks” as a result of their experiences. These can be good and bad – wandering around with no torchlight might grant a hero ‘night-vision’, improving his combat effectiveness in low light, whereas another may become ‘afraid of the dark’, and suffer diminished stress resilience in the shadows. Quirks are an important part of the game – the right collection on a particular character class can turn them into a hard-hitting powerhouse, or a whimpering husk.

Stress relief in town: Pick your poison

So you managed to survive your most recent quest? Maybe you brought back three of your four heroes – not bad at all! Trouble is, one is paranoid, the other is abusive, and the third is teetering on the edge of insanity. Sending this simpering lot back out into the wild would be a huge mistake. It’s time for some R&R.

The loot and family heirlooms you collect on quests are used to upgrade your home base – a small, squalid hamlet bordering a moor. Over time, you will restore and expand it, opening buildings like the Guild and Blacksmith, which allow hero upgrading. Most importantly, however, the town allows you to bench stressed-out heroes in a variety of stress reduction activities – drinking, gambling, praying, and flagellation, among others.

When you return from your next quest, these heroes will be back to their old selves, and ready for action. True to the spirit of the game, however, their time in ‘treatment’ can affect them with a host of personality quirks – your Grave Robber may get banned from the Gambling Hall for cheating, meaning she can never return there. Conversely, your Crusader may go on a bender, refusing to leave the bar in time for the next expedition!

Unpredictability is a hallmark of the Darkest Dungeon experience, and how you cope with unforeseen events will be the measure of your success.

Conclusion

Darkest Dungeon asks a lot from its players, and the heroes they command. It will challenge you to think like a sports coach, or a field commander. Guiding a roster of fallible, stressed-out adventurers is tough work, let alone reclaiming your ancestral estate from the clutches of a timeless evil. Heroes will get injured, stressed, and even die. It is an uncompromising experience that will not coddle you – the game saves all the time, and death is permanent, so your decisions really do matter.

Darkest Dungeon features a powerhouse soundtrack by Stuart Chatwood, chilling narration by Wayne June, and profoundly unsettling sound design by Power Up Audio. Stoic and Versus Evil Unveil The Banner Saga 2 at The Game Awards

Stoic, an independent game development company and Versus Evil, one of the leading independent video game publishers, officially confirmed that The Banner Saga 2, the sequel to the critically-acclaimed role-playing strategy game The Banner Saga, is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program in 2015.

The announcement comes after the official first reveal of The Banner Saga 2 at last Friday's Game Awards held in Las Vegas.
