Compile Heart has updated the official website for its upcoming PlayStation 4 RPG Varnir of the Dragon Star: Ecdysis of the Dragon with information on the game’s story, world, and characters.

■ World

◆ Story



Valneria, a world where huge dragon fossils rise above the clouds.

There is a witch living in a remote forest who is persecuted as a cursed being who brought forth the dragons.

Zephy, a knight tasked with a mission to hunt the witch, gets lost in the forest with his fellow knights, and nearly dies when he is attacked by a dragon. But the witches Minessa and Karikaro saved him.

By drinking the blood of the dragon, a magical power was awoken within Zephy, and together with the witches, Zephy becomes submerged in a vortex of cruel fates.

The Imperial Order that governs the world, the Knights of the Reaper who lead the witch hunt, the hoodlums of Evil Raven that fight dragons, and the mysterious Witches of Prisonflame.

In this world where the motives of various people intertwine, the story of witches fighting against their fate with a boy who possesses the power of a witch will unfold.

◆ World

Witch

“Witch” is the general term for those who were born with a dragon seed inside their womb and can wield the power of a dragon.

Constantly under attack by powerful dragon magic, witches gradually succumb to madness.

The only means of suppressing the madness is to devour dragons by “consuming the blood of dragons.”

However, by consuming their blood, the dragon within the womb of the witch will grow and eventually be born by eating its way through their stomach.

While witches must devour dragons in order to live, they despair of the future.

“The itch” to devour dragons usually comes around the time a witch turns 17, and while they must devour in order to live, they despair about the future.

Whether they are devoured first by madness or dragons, the witches are a cursed people.

Valneria

A world where huge dragon fossils rise above the clouds.

Valneria is naturally abundant with forests, plains, valleys, and mountain ranges, and its civilization has only developed up to the medieval times.

This world is governed by the supreme leadership of the Emperor or the Imperial Order, but that influence does not reach all ends of the world—it only reaches as far as the border of Region of the Imperial Order, which even the outskirts of are ruled over as a countryy.

Witches Roost

A witch settlement located deep within a remote forest.

There were once several roosts scattered across Valneria, but due to a tragedy 10 years ago, all of the other roosts were destroyed.

Furthermore, many witches were devoured by dragons or were killed in witch hunts, leaving less than 10 witches remaining alive.

The graves of the dead witches on the outskirts of the roost are too many to count.

For generations, those graves will remain proof of the dragons curse.

■ Characters

Zephy (Protagonist) (voiced by Daiki Abe, illustrated by Riruru Meikyuu)
“Don’t come near me. I’m sorry, but I don’t trust you all.”



A young, low-ranking member of the Knights of the Reaper.

He is serious and often straight-faced, but that is because he is thoughtful of his comrades.

When he and his comrades get lost in a remote forest, and are nearly killed by a dragon, he was rescued by a witch.

It was then, when he was given the dragon blood to drink in order to keep him alive, that a magical power awoken within him.

Minessa (Witch) (voiced by Sayaka Senbongi, illustrated by Minamitsu)
“I’ll make it through this cursed fate somehow. I definitely will!”



An earnest witch with a strong sense of responsibility.

Always looking for clues to solve the dragons curse, she has both an air of pity and heroism.

As she is the only survivor of the Prisonflame Carnival, the tragedy that resulted in the death of many witches 10 years ago, she has an extreme fear of fire.

Since she has never dealt with boys outside of battle, she is a bit curious about them.

Karikaro (Witch) (voiced by Ayaka Fukuhara, illustrated by Kei Nanameida)
“You can use magic even though you’re not a witch… I don’t know what you are. OK, time to kill you.”



An unemotional, yet somewhat absent-minded witch.

Whether her thoughts are rational or hasty, one way or another she is quick to say “I’ll kill you.”

Since she has passed the age limit of witches, she fears that she will die in the near future.

She loves to cook, but since her tastes are peculiar, her food is quite a big hit or miss.

Laponetto (Witch) (voiced by Hisako Tojo, illustrated by Katsuyuki Hirano)
“Please don’t touch me… I don’t want to see your tragedy.”



A witch who always has a graceful, yet sorrowful facial expression.

She possesses the power of clairvoyance, allowing her to unwillingly foresee the future tragedy of anyone she touches.

She herself despises that power.

Aside from those she trusts most, she is terrified of connecting with other people.

She especially finds dealing with boys to be a bit scary.

Charlotta (Witch) (voiced by Sachika Misawa, illustrated by Tsunako)
“You want to know about little ol’ me? Hehe, if only I were more honest…”



A mysterious young girl who calls herself the “Legendary Prisonflame Witch” who caused the Prisonflame Carnival 10 years ago, during which which over 100 witches were burned to death.

She is innocent and bewitching, but at times her gloomy and prudent sides show.

She lives in the sacred roost and never misses a chance to toy with Zephy and the others.

She is very proud of her own ability.

Varnir of the Dragon Star: Ecdysis of the Dragon is due out for PlayStation 4 on October 11 in Japan.

Mary Skelter 2 details more systems, Mary Skelter: Nightmares remake

Compile Heart has updated the official Japanese website for Mary Skelter 2 with new information and screenshots introducing the Transfused Blood system, skill creation, Blood Devolution, purging corruption, and the remake of the original Mary Skelter: Nightmares included with the game, as well as a new trailer focused on purging corruption.

■ System

◆ Growth: Transfused Blood System

In addition to standard skills, which are acquired through skill creation, there are also “Transfused Blood Skills” that the Blood Maidens can acquire by injecting “Transfused Blood” into their bodies. While Transfused Blood is acquired by means such as “Blood Farming” and “gathering” in dungeons, Transfused Blood is a special item that cannot be injected unless appraised once. By getting Transfused Blood appraised, you can inject the Blood Maidens with even more power.



◆ Growth: Skill Creation

The skills learned by the Blood Maidens can be chosen by the player. The Blood Maidens gain CP as they level, and these points are used to level up skills and learn new ones.

You can also use the skills you’ve learned across different jobs, effectively crafting your own Blood Maiden. For example, you can create a Paladin with powerful attacks, or a Blood Witch that can use healing magic. The possibilities are endless.



◆ Growth: Blood Devolution

You can reset a Blood Maiden’s level through Blood Devolution so that you can train her again. The level you want to drop down to can be chosen by the player. Depending on the level you choose, you will gain bonus CP, which can be used to boost stats or learn skills. Create the ultimate Blood Maiden with Blood Devolution.



◆ Base: Purging Corruption

The harshness of battle slowly corrupts the minds of the Blood Maidens. If this continues, they will enter Blood Skelter mode and attack anything around them, even their allies. In order to purge the Blood Maiden, you will need to rub the Corruption from her body. If the purge is successful, the Corruption will be lifted, and she’ll gain stat boosts and resistance to future Corruption.



◆ Remake: Mary Skelter: Nightmares

In order to enjoy Mary Skelter 2 as much as possible, the remake of Mary Skelter: Nightmares is set up to unlock after clearing Mary Skelter 2. However, those who prefer to play the remake of Mary Skelter: Nightmares before Mary Skelter 2 can download the free downloadable content “Mary Skelter: Nightmares Play Item” from the PlayStation Store, which will be available at launch.



By unlocking the remake of Mary Skelter: Nightmares, you can switch between Mary Skelter 2 and the remake of Mary Skelter: Nightmares on the main menu screen using the L1 or R1 button.

Mary Skelter 2 is due out for PlayStation 4 in Japan on July 12.

Varnir of the Dragon Star details Grand Dragons, Falcom collaboration
《龙星的瓦尔尼尔》公开新情报 巨大龙现身

　　开发商Compile Heart今日更新了其PS4平台“魔女×巨龙”主题的RPG新作《龙星的瓦尔尼尔》（竜星のヴァルニール）官方网站，公开了一条将会出现在游戏中的全新巨龙—“巨大龙”。

　　所有漫游在“瓦尔尼尔”世界中的龙都是从魔女腹中所诞生的，巨龙拥有者各式各样的形态和能力，它们当中有一些体型特别巨大的类型被称为“巨大龙”，“巨大龙”拥有着相当恐怖的力量。

　　此外Compile Heart之前曾宣布，本作将与Falcom旗下人气RPG“轨迹”系列进行联动，以《英雄传说：空之轨迹》中古龙“雷格纳特”为首的三只龙将会出现在《龙星的瓦尔尼尔》里面，关于联动的详细细节将在之后公布。

　　《龙星的瓦尔尼尔》将于2018年10月11日登陆PS4。

All of the dragons that roam the world of Valneria were born from the wombs of witches. While dragons with various forms and abilities exist, there are dragons of particularly giant stature among them called “Grand Dragons,” which possesses terrifying power.

■ Collaboration

◆ Monster Collaboration with Nihon Falcom

A collaboration with Nihon Falcom’s popular Trails RPG series. Three dragons will appear in Varnir of the Dragon Star, starting with Ragnard from The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.







More information will be announced at a later date.

Mary Skelter 2 details Hansel, Clara, Michiru, Professor Tohjima, Haru, Miko, Towa, Snark, and Blood Farm system

Compile Heart has updated the official Japanese website for Mary Skelter 2 with information and screenshots introducing sub-characters Hansel, Clara, Michiru, Professor Tohjima, Haru, Miko Ueshima, Towa Kadowaki, and Snark, as well as the Blood Farm system.

Hansel (voiced by Taishi Nakagawa)



A Nightmare in the Dorm area and Gretel’s older brother who she loves. Hansel also loves his younger sister Gretel and considers her a precious family member.

While he looks and talks like a monster, he has a certain level of intelligence and is basically kind as long as no harm comes to Gretel. He slightly understands that he is different from Gretel, but does not think something like that matters.

He understands Nightmare Jack well.

Clara (voiced by Yui Nakajima)



A girl you meet while exploring the cell area. Although young, she moves around the cell area and sells items to Tsuu and the others. She surives thanks to the help of her mysterious “master.”

Michiru (voiced by Maya Yoshioka)



The religious leader of the Order of the Sun who prophesies that “the Sun God will scorch the heavens to render salvation from the Jail.” She is called “Oohime” or the “Lady of the Sun.” Her real name is “Michiru.” She speaks with a shroud of mystery, and often confuses many, but her words hold an odd sense of divinity.

Professor Tohjima (voiced by Kanehira Yamamoto)



A researcher of the Jail from the conception of the Dawn. He holds vast knowledge of the Jail, and is extremely passionate about escaping it.

Haru (voiced by Yuuji Kameyama)



Dawn’s weapon craftsman who lacks tact and has a bad attitude. One of the very few craftsman who can create the Blood weapons that the Blood Maidens use.

Miko Ueshima (voiced by Natsue Sasamoto)



An older sister to many working at Dawn. She has heard out and advised Tsuu and the Little Mermaid since they were young, and has various abilities including detailed knowledge about the Jail.

Towa Kadowaki (voiced by Fukushi Ochiai)



The guard standing watch over the entrance to the Liberated District.

Snark (voiced by ???)



The assumed leader of the Nightmares, and a being with unknown origins. Long ago, Professor Tohjima met Snark, but has not been seen since then.

■ System

◆ Dungeon: Blood Farm

Blood Farm

Blood Farm is a system to grow Blood Flowers in the cell area. By planting the Blood Crystals you obtain in battle in the dungeon, Blood Flowers will bloom, and you can get equipment by harvesting the Blood Flowers that have fully bloomed.

Also, if you add Marchen Blood to a Blood Flower, the flower’s color will change to gold. Gold Blood Flowers have a higher likelihood of yielding rarer equipment.

Harvested equipment will be granted special effects, including:

• Up to a +99 Strengthening Value
• 15 kinds of Equipment Skills
• Four kinds of Status Ailment Granting Effects
• 60 kinds of Nicknames
• Nine kinds of Attribute Effects

Harvest the strongest weapon with a combination of over a million effects.





Update Chance

Using Hamelin’s “Magnetic Piccolo” blood ability, an Update Chance will immediately activate upon harvesting a Blood Flower. By activating an Update Chance, even more effects are randomly granted to harvested equipment.

血式少女的战斗血染了活体监狱

　　如果在战斗中攻击敌人的弱点或用 overkill 来处理的话，敌人的血会喷出，那血会反过来被少女们使用。 此外，一旦遭受严重的伤害或无法行动等的少女们，因此精神力不稳，“污染” 就会增加。 《神狱塔 断罪玛丽》的战斗中，“血” 和 “污染” 可说是支配战场的关键。

　　敌人身上喷出的血继续反过来使用的话，“血液图标” 就会增加，血液图标全部溢出的话，少女们会变成「灭绝化模式」，并且，“血液图标” 全部溢出时，“污染” 持续增加，就会发狂变成无法控制的 “血狂化” 模式。 虽然与平时相比增强好几倍，但在 “血狂化模式” 时，无论是谁，敌我不分疯狂攻击，此时为了恢复原样，就需要杰克的 “净化” 的作用来复原。

　　敌人中有被称为 “梦魇” 的难以胜任的敌人。 梦魇正在徘徊于迷宫里，在他的眼里只能看到 “杀戮” 的 “杀戮捉迷藏”。 本作中 “梦魇” 是周围数十米白色的 “梦魇空间” 围着，在逃走途中将无法标记地图。 另外，在此次恶劣的条件下，“在背后观看” 时，有可能会被卷入困境。

　　如果在战斗中受到敌人的攻击或行动不可等等状态，血式少女就会精神不稳而增加 “污染”。 而且如果累积这些污染并把敌人的血收为己用，那么就会成为惊人的力量，但是却会变成不分敌人和我军进攻的 “血狂化模式”。



人鱼公主的血狂化

　　污染可在据点使用「污染净化」来净化污染。 如果成功净化污染，那么污染就会变得比以前少，而且暂时还会产生能力值上升的效果。





据点是在 “那个” 地下洞穴的里面

　　从监狱逃狱的鹤和人鱼公主，她们把地下洞窟地域里面的「哈梅尔解放区」当作据点。
如果是前作的玩家，应该很熟悉这里，这里就是 “逃离的出发点”，这究竟意味着什么？



看来相似却是不同地方的监狱迷宫

　　成为 “越狱舞台” 的监狱是突然生出的一个巨大的生命体生成的巨大的塔。 生长时会吃掉所有周边的东西，里面的人造物的痕迹成为迷宫。

　　在这里迷宫扭曲成像童话一般的装饰也是一大特征。 这次作品中有很多这样的地下信道，与前作中登场的地方是不同的。

　　CompileHeart的非主流RPG新作《龙星的瓦尔尼尔》在本周Fami通中公开与主角魔女一派敌对的组织艾比尔雷文、镇魂骑士团，以及有关战斗系统的一些详细情报。本作目前预定于10月11日登陆PS4平台。



　　在本作的世界中存在除了主角所属的“魔女”一派之外，还有与之敌对的艾比尔雷文和镇魂骑士团。本次公开了这两个组织的代表性人物露比艾(CV：江口育美)和柯贝利亚(CV：笹本菜津枝)。



　　此外还有一名可爱的幼女角色法尔(CV：赤崎千夏)，她也是一名魔女。



　　游戏的战斗系统方面，此前已经公布本作的战斗完全是在空中进行。而战场会划分为上中下三层，角色可以在其中自由穿梭，并将按照速度顺序展开行动。另外CompileHeart游戏常见的辅助角色、阵型、变身等系统在本作中也会存在。
