Styx: Shards of Darkness Reveals Images of Some of the Many Dangers to Overcome
Styx: Shards of Darkness, the sequel to Cyanide Studios' stealth cult-classic Master of Shadows, comes to consoles and PC in 2016. Styx creeps back in a new adventure packed with bigger production, tonnes of new features and a new engine: Unreal Engine 4. Today's new images reveal a few of the many dangers your green anti-hero will have to face during his journey.
One of the hostile factions you will meet in the huge underground city of Korrangar is composed of the Dark Elves. Dark Elves were previously Elves who had to live without any amber for multiple generations. Slowly, they have been turning into fanatic and bloodthirsty creatures. They became masters in Quartz fabrication, a new, much more dangerous, source of power. They are also experts at goblin hunting and the Exterminator Dark Elf is proof of that. He has honed his skills to perfection, and is able to flush out pesky creatures hiding in dark corners and hard-to-reach places with toxic bombs.
If there's an even more dangerous place than Korrangar, it would be Wildoran, the city of goblin hunters. Wildoran inhabitants are stout people wearing heavy armour - the powerful Dwarves. Styx is unable to breach their impenetrable defence, so you must innovate and adapt to disable or avoid them. Every dwarf also has a supernatural sense of smell, and is able to slowly track Styx as he moves from cover to cover.
This is only a small example of the many enemy types Styx will face in his journey. Each faction has many unique classes of enemies and will require you to creatively utilize all of Styx's tools to overcome them: assassination, amber powers, talents and skills, equipment, etc. But that's not all! Deep in the most dangerous of areas lie greater foes and obstacles that are epic in size and scale - monstrous beings that overshadow anything Styx has ever seen!
Styx: Shards of Darkness will be present at E3 2016 in Los Angeles on June 14-16.

Space Hulk: Deathwing Arsenal Trailer
Space Hulk: Deathwing, the upcoming first-person shooter set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, showcases some of its big guns in a new video! Space Hulk: Deathwing is the adaptation of the Space Hulk board game, developed on Unreal Engine 4 by the team behind E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, Streum On Studio. As the Terminators from the Dark Angels' first Company purify the Space Hulk from the Xenos menace, witness the gunplay of with a selection of the available weapons, the environments and the atmosphere of the upcoming game.
Deathwing Terminators carry some of the biggest and most powerful weapons available in the Imperium. Even the smallest of the weapons they employ, the Storm Bolter, is typically a mounted weapon, firing rocket-propelled shells in place of bullets. The trailer showcases some of the deadly assortment of firearms, melee and energy weapons you will wield: the classic Storm Bolter is here of course, alongside Redemption, a unique spread-shot variant capable of ricocheting shots around corners. The Heavy Flamer can lay fire on walls and floors, cutting off choke points and punishing those who dare cross the line. The Storm Shield can withstand heavy enemy fire, and the Thunder Hammer carries so much latent power that striking it upon either surface and flesh causes an area-of-effect shockwave around the point of impact.
The labyrinthic Space Hulk that you will be exploring is dark and dangerous, infested by Xenos. At any time, Genestealers can ambush you, making use of the walls, floorspaces, and ceiling vents. The once-dormant Genestealers have made the Space Hulk their home, and will use every advantage they can get to strike you and your team from your blind spots, and pounce on you from above. True to their swarm-like social structure, they will behave accordingly and may even fall back to regroup, in order to attack again in greater numbers.
Don the Terminator power armor, take up your Storm Bolter, and bring glory to the Emperor in Space Hulk: Deathwing when the game launches in November 2016 on PC!

Styx: Shards of Darkness - First gameplay video and Q1 2017 release
Originally expected for the end of this year, Styx: Shards of Darkness will finally arrive in Q1 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Patrick Pligersdorffer, CEO at Cyanide Studio, explains, "With this new episode of Styx we updated our engine from Unreal 3 to Unreal 4. This update has brought so much to the Styx series, from graphical enhancements to new gameplay mechanics and features. The engine transition has required some time for our team to adapt to. We're dedicated to providing the best stealth experience possible for players, so in agreement with our publisher Focus, we are delaying the game until the first quarter of 2017."
Developed with Unreal 4, Styx: Shards of Darkness, creeps into an ambitious new sequel with a host of new features! Today, we are unveiling the very first gameplay video of Styx: Shards of Darkness, where you can watch our goblin hero sneak, climb, swing, and kill through the Port of Korrangar on a mission offered by his latest shadowy client. This is the perfect opportunity to discover some of the new features and gameplay mechanics added to Styx's latest adventure.
In search for the Ambassador's magical scepter stolen by a shape-shifting elf, Styx must infiltrate a diplomatic summit through clever use of the environment and new crafting abilities. A new feature, crafting, enables Styx to use more abilities, such as throwing a cocoon large distances enabling him to teleport into a newly hatched clone of himself.
The series' lauded verticality returns, with many choices of routes and tactics to take throughout the level. Stick to the shadows on the ground, avoiding patrols, or turn to the walls and ceilings to sneak past or attack from above. Kill, or subvert; the choice is yours - just don't be seen!
The leveling system returns expanded and enhanced. Using the magical power of Amber, Styx is able to turn himself invisible for a short period of time, and if you choose to upgrade this skill, it can even turn victims invisible while you go in for kills. By leveling up the assassination tree, Styx gets access to improved aerial kills, as well as the ability to kill an enemy from a barrel or box and stuff the body inside in a single, swift, move.
Styx's second adventure builds upon the foundations laid Akenash, with more fluid movement and climbing abilities, a richer story told with cinematics including an enhanced bestiary, and side-missions to complete for the sneakiest of goblins.
Styx: Shards of Darkness comes out early 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC! You can preorder the game now to get exclusive access to the Akenash set, donning the outfit and dagger of Styx's first adventure.
