《生化奇兵》工作室讨论游戏过场动画的形式

  Irrational Games在二月正式关闭,而新Irrational Games接下来的课题是讨论有关游戏过场动画的方式。 Irrational的动画导演Shawn Robertson在本周的开发者大会上发表了演讲,其中就着重提到了有关游戏过场动画。

  “我们需要推动过去那些重视剧情游戏的过场动画形式,我们希望可以在高真实性和高互动性之间建立桥梁。”Shawn Robertson在会议中提到,旗下作品《生化奇兵》系列大多数情况下都是非战斗性的角色作用在非交互性的模式上,而直到《生化奇兵:无限》中的伊丽莎白的出现,才让这个形式有所改观。

  “我们当然希望在我们下一个项目推出之后,我还可以站在这里演讲谈论有关过场动画方式。《生化奇兵:无限》的目标是把同伴完全融入到玩家的游戏空间中。”

  《生化奇兵:无限》海葬二部曲第二弹DLC中玩家可以操作女主角伊丽莎白,而这也是Irrational Games最后一个项目了。

《生化奇兵》创作者下一部作品将采用非线性剧情

《生化奇兵》系列创作者Ken Levine在游戏开发者大会GDC 2014上表示,他的下一部作品将不会继续采用线性剧情模式,因为“以剧情为主导的游戏没有太多重玩价值。”

在GDC的游戏展台上,Levine对传统线性剧情模式进行了反思,称它“在玩家和作者之间制造了一条界线。”

  “剧情故事并不能充分与游戏的系统结合。我对于我们创作出的线性剧情作品感到骄傲,但我个人来讲,已经搞这套路搞了19年。”

  “游戏故事剧情的问题在于,你总是会趋向于做的更大,更大,更大,非常耗费时间和财力。你必须花费数年的时间,换来那一瞬间的感动。你发售游戏,玩家入手游戏,玩12小时,然后开始对cosplay等周边产品感兴趣,但你无法让玩家们一直留在游戏中。”

  “线性剧情模式在作者和玩家之间制造了一条界限。”

Levine在会上表示:“我希望制作一款以剧情为主导的游戏,但剧情不是线性的,而是互相交错的。”

  他的设想是,所有剧情元素都会引起玩家不同的动作反应,最后达成一个开放性的结局。听上去会很复杂,而且Levine现在还不想立刻就达到那种程度。

  “玩家必须在不同剧情要素之间进行取舍权衡,但你将清楚地知道抉择的后果。我们将控制剧情要素的数量,让玩家不至于分散注意力,不被大量信息冲击得焦头烂额。”

  今年2月份,Levine关闭了Irrational工作室,《生化奇兵》版权被2K买下。

传闻《边境之地:前传》年内发售 登陆本世代

  本周末的PAX将会有大批游戏厂商参展,这其中也包括2K Games和Gearbox,他们是否会带来《边境之地》系列新作叫人期待。而在PAX开始之前,相关的传闻以不断,日前国外零售商GamePointsNow爆料了有关系列新作的消息。

  据称Gearbox将会推出《边境之地:前传(Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel)》,而对应平台是PS3和XBOX360,游戏的故事会填补发生在系列初代和系列2代之间5年间的故事。传闻该作将由2K澳大利亚工作室开发,系列2代中的Handsome Jack也会出现在游戏中,但是这时候他已经是一个不起眼的程序员了。而游戏的场景将搬到名为潘多拉之月的月球上。

  此外游戏中还会有新类型的武器,包括激光枪、西罗枪等。目前2K还没有正式公布游戏,不过预计周末的PAX应该是一个很好的时间点。

Borderlands is back, and this time its going to the moon with Borderlands: The Pre-sequel, a full on co-op shooter RPG set in the five year gap between Borderlands 1 & 2 for Xbox 360,PS3 and PC

We at GamePointsNow have managed to get our hands on some exclusive info regarding the next instalment in the Gearbox’s hit franchise.

Only a month ago Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford announced that his studio were not working on a borderlands sequel but they didn’t mention that 2k Australlia were working on a Pre-Sequel.

Set on the moon of Elpis and Hyperions ominous H shaped moon base, the game sees Handsome Jack in the days when he was just a humble programmer called John, hunting a powerful alien artefact (what else!!). Players will be able to select one of Jack/Johns four lieutenants to play as in Athena The Gladiator, Wilhelm The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer and Fragtrap, a militarised claptrap..

The astute amongst you may recognise some of the names from their appearances in previous instalments, Wilhelm is the half human, half Hyperion Loader boss from Borderlands 2 and Athena made an appearance in the General Knoxx DLC for the first game as a Lance Assassin gone mercenary. Nisha bears a striking resemblance to the seconds games Sheriff of Lynchwood, who was also Jacks girlfriend.

Athena will be a melee focused character able to absorb incoming fire with here kinetic shield while dispatching enemies with her plasma sword. While Wilhelm(sadly before he became a badass loader) will be able to make use of a shoulder mounter cannon and drones which you can call down to aid you in combat.

As you’d expect from any Borderland title there is the usual bazillion weapons to choose from, and with being set on a moon there’s plenty of opportunity to ramp things up a little. There are two whole new weapon types to get your teeth into this time around. Laser weapons and moons go hand in hand so you won’t be disappointed there, but the real fun looks to be in the Cryo class of guns, couple that with the games low gravity setting and it’s a case of set your phasers to fun (sorry) as you freeze and shatter your foes.

Yes Elpis has reduced gravity (it is a moon after all) so tossing bandits into orbit with a well placed grenade is a sure thing. There’s also jetpacks to help you get around the moons surface and outwit your enemies, although this does tie in with another of the games new features to present a whole new challenge for veterans of the series.

Oxygen will play a huge role in the game, in fact it’s actually going to be lootable in the form of OX -Kits.This adds a whole new layer to the combat with you requiring to manage your own oxygen levels while battling your foes, although it does lead to the option of shattering an enemies helmet to instantly deprive them of precious O2 and gain an advantage.

While there is no set release date for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, we at Team GPN would lay our inter galactic cowboy hats on a 2014 release due to it being a 360/PS3 release.

And while this is nothing but a rumour until officially confirmed, we can say we are sure you’ll be hearing (or maybe reading) something real soon.

《边境之地2》PSV同捆版公布

  PSV版的《边境之地2》就像玩家们所期待的那样出色,日前游戏开发商Gearbox和发行商2K共同宣布将于2014年5月6日推出PSV版《边境之地2》限量PSV2000同捆包装版,同时游戏的数字下载版将于5月13日正式在PSN上架。

Hands-on With Borderlands 2 on PS Vita

The PlayStation social team recently had a chance to play a build of Borderlands 2 on PS Vita, and as the group’s resident Borderlandophile, I immediately called dibs. What can I say about this game? It’s Borderlands 2 on the Vita!

Controlling Borderlands 2 on PS Vita is a customizable affair: just go into options and remap to your heart’s content. To change a control, tap the action or button (even the abilities assigned to the touch screen or rear touch pad) you want to change, then tap wherever you want the action to be. By default, tapping different areas of Vita’s rear touch pad yield a sprint or a melee attack, while a tap on the front screen tosses a grenade or activates your character-specific ability.

Shoulder buttons L and R still aim and shoot, though I did notice a useful new feature that takes advantage of PS Vita’s built-in gyroscope: when you’re aiming down the sight, moving PS Vita will adjust your aim.

Environments and character models are surprisingly detailed, and the game overall runs at a solid clip, generally hovering in the vicinity of 30 frames per second. Slicing dudes up as my main cyborg-man-alien-mystery-assassin-thing Zer0 still makes me feel like a cyborg-man-alien-mystery-assassin-thing.

The gang’s all here, by the way, including DLC characters Gaige the Mechromancer and Krieg the Psycho. In addition to all six vault hunters, Borderlands 2 on Vita includes the campaign packs “Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty” and “Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage”; the Vault Hunter Upgrade pack, and the Collector’s Edition Pack!

Borderlands 2 is a blast when you’re flying solo, but the PS Vita version also includes support for two-player online co-op play between two PS Vita owners. We checked in with the SCEA Third Party Production team, who confirmed that while they strived to include four-player co-op in the game, they made a decision late in their development cycle to focus on providing the best two-player-only co-op experience possible. As a result, the maximum co-operative player count for Borderlands 2 on PS Vita is capped at two.

Oh, and good news for anyone who’s played the PS3 version for dozens of hours: you’ll be able to bring your save data from the PS3 version (standard or GOTY editions) of the game to your PS Vita, and vice versa. Just upload your save to the cloud when you are done playing on one device and pull it down when you want to play again. Cross-save, baby!

I’ll admit to being slightly skeptical when I heard Borderlands 2 was coming to PS Vita. It’s a big game! I’m still a bit unsure that making this thing happen was possible by any earthly, mortal means. But hey, I’ll take black magic and alien technology if it means I get to play one of my favorite PS3 games on the go. Put me down for one on May 6th!

'Tales from the Borderlands' Revealed in 1st Screenshots from Telltale Games and Gearbox Software

Listen, kiddos...

Today we would like to release the first ever screenshots from our upcoming episodic game series, Tales from the Borderlands, premiering for download later this summer.

In the first round of screenshots, players get a closer look at the upcoming series set on Pandora AFTER the events of the critically-acclaimed Borderlands 2 from Gearbox Software and 2K Games.

Featuring two playable characters, the story is told from two unique perspectives that will alternate as the story progresses. These characters include Rhys, a scheming, low-level data-miner within Hyperion who's plotting his own grand ambitions; and Fiona, a clever and classic fast-talking con-artist born and raised on Pandora out to pull off the grift of a lifetime.

While they themselves aren't vault hunters, both Rhys and Fiona will also come across vault hunters such as Zer0 and other characters from the world of Borderlands 2 throughout the series, as all events in Tales from the Borderlands will be part of the official Borderlands story canon.

Adam Sarasohn, Producer on Tales from the Borderlands has also offered additional details on the series on the Official PlayStation Blog this morning.

Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series will be published digitally by Telltale Games in partnership with Gearbox Software and 2K Games.

Take-Two上财年营收翻倍 大作助公司破纪录

  今天,Take-Two公布了截止到2014年3月31日上一财年的公司财报,借助《横行霸道5》、《NBA 2K14》、《边境之地2》和《生化奇兵 无限》的火热销售,上一财年Take-Two净营收比前一年增长了近一倍(94%),达到了创纪录的24亿美元。

  以下是Take-Two旗下几款游戏的具体销量:

  《边境之地2 | Borderlands 2》 900万

  《文明5 | Civilization V》 500万

  《生化奇兵 无限 | Bioshock Infinite》 600万

  《横行霸道5 | GTA V》 3300万

  《横行霸道 Online | GTA Online》用户自制内容 700万

  本次财报会上,Take-Two还公布了旗下2K Games一些游戏的新动态,其中包括之前没怎么露面的《WWE 2K15》:

  《NBA 2K15》Xbox 360、Xbox One、PS3、PS4、PC-2014年10月7日发售

  《边境之地:前传 | Borderlands Pre-Sequal》Xbox 360、PS3、PC – 2014年秋季发售

  《猎食进化 | EVOLVE》Xbox One、PS4、PC – 2014年秋季发售

  《WWE 2K15》PS3、PS4、Xbox 360、Xbox One –2015年3月31日之前发售。

  而制作《横行霸道》的Rockstar工作室也带来了振奋人心的消息,他们计划在2015年3月之前在PS4和XBOX ONE上发售新作,值得注意的是,Take-Two的财报中,已经将PS4和XBOX ONE称为“本世代(current-gen)”了。

  在刚刚结束的Take-Two上一财年的财报会上,有一则振奋人心的消息放出:制作《马克思·佩恩 | Max Payne》系列、《横行霸道 | GTA V》系列的Rockstar Games将要在本财年结束之前(2015年3月31日之前)在次时代主机平台推出一款新的作品。

  Take-Two总裁Strauss Zelnick称,“Rockstar Games现在正在为即将到来的游戏而努力,我们也非常期待他们在这个财年为次时代平台准备的礼物。”

  也就是说,最晚在2015年3月31日之前,我们可以在次时代平台看到Rockstar的新作了,至于是之前系列的续作、重制版或是一款全新的系列作品,Take-Two并未透露。不过,在未来的10个月,R星的粉丝们有的期待了。

R星首款新世代主机游戏将于2015年4月问世

  Take-Two工作室CEO Strauss Zelnick在今天的股东大会上透露,R星正在制作一款面向PS4和Xbox One的游戏,预计2015年4月份上市。

  “R星正在为下一款游戏辛勤工作,我们对本财年新世代主机准备的内容非常期待。”他们2015财年的起止日期是2014年4月1日到2013年3月31日。

  R星上一部作品是《侠盗猎车5》,去年9月份登陆PS3和Xbox 360,累计销量3300万套。期间R星还发售了手机版《侠盗猎车:圣安德烈斯》,面向安卓,Windows Phone和 Kindle Fire。

  Zelnick 对R星的具体项目只字未提,但有可能是PS4和Xbox One版的GTA5。Take-Two今天宣布,GTA OL的实体销量和数字销量提供了大量收入,让他们2014财年的营业额达到创纪录的23.5亿美元。

Take-Two总裁称 任天堂仍是重要的商业伙伴

  昨天Take-Two财报会上,Take-Two总裁Strauss Zelnick表示旗下Rockstar工作室将要在本财年结束前(2015年3月31日之前)放出次时代新作。

  Strauss Zelnick所说的“次时代”,PS4和Xbox One自然是没跑,但WiiU呢,和索尼与微软相比,Take-Two在WiiU上花的心思可以忽略不计,目前只出了一款《NBA 2K13》。Strauss Zelnick在接受采访时被问及是不是已经已经放弃WiiU平台时,他说:“虽然我们目前对话并不多,并且没有新作在WiiU上发布,但任天堂一直是我们重要的商业伙伴,我很期待今后的合作。”

《文明:太空 | Civilization: Beyond Earth》进化新要素纯洁细节

  在今年4月中旬举行的2014届PAX East会展中,由Firaxis Games公司开发、2K Games公司发行的《文明》系列最新大作《文明:太空》得到了隆重亮相,该作是1999年《席德·梅尔的半人马座阿尔法星》(Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri)的精神后继作品,描绘了经过了漫长现代文明,旅行中的人类开拓和探索新天地的故事。而就在近日,游戏官方网站得到了更新,其中全新引入的蜘蛛巣状非线性的科技树“Technology Web”系统得到了初次亮相,这一系统将基于玩家的势力分为三种。这一次,我们将对分类中“Affinities”之一的“纯洁”Affinity概要进行介绍,其中包括各单位的外观、进化图等。

  《文明:太空》的科技树,并不是传统树形的线性进化,而是采用蜘蛛巢状、无限对外蔓延的“Technology Web”系统。这一“Technology Web”拥有各自固有的胜利条件、其中“纯洁”、“调和”分别代表着宇宙中人类势力的哲学思想(Philosophy)和主体性(Identity),根据“支配”会有很大分类。另外,3种的Affinity还有各自专用的机体和升级/能力被准备,单位和首领的外观不但会有不同,还会充满变化。

  “纯洁”,以维持与赞美理想人类形态和身体能力的创造为目标的Affinity,开辟了“调和”和“支配”的新天地,与宽容、顺应相比,其实行了完全拒绝顺应的所谓纯洁主义。

  “纯洁”的城市和单位以回归古老地球文明的旗帜和印章为特色,单位中强化套装和车辆都将登场。“纯洁”Affinity的军事单位以采用大量的战斗套装、车辆为技术特色。另外,悬浮车辆的移动不会受到地形的影响,海洋区域的横跨也成为了可能。
