Crytek发表新CryEngine游戏引擎 取消数字后缀

  Crytek在近日发布了自家CryEngine的下一代,下一代CryEngine取消了用数字区分的逻辑,简单的直接冠以CryEngine。



  Crytek表示已经不能再用数字来给现在这个引擎命名了,CryEngine3自从2009年发布以来已经经过好几次的重大升级,现在的CryEngine早已不在是当初的CryEngine,所以也无法用几代来命名。而且新的引擎将通过不断的升级来提示性能,一个不断的进化的引擎所以无法用数字来命名。

  Crytek已经为CryEngine大幅度的修改了整个光照系统,内置了影片渲染和动画的解决方案,大大提高了沙盒编辑器的速度和效果,同样也改进了我们的曲面细分渲染。新CryEngine引擎支持当前和下一代游戏机,包括WiiU,PS3,XBOX360,PS4和XBOX ONE,和PC。

Crytek Announces the Arrival of the New CryEngine

Crytek have ushered in a new era for their state-of-the-art CryEngine technology, with the launch of the new CryEngine; an ever-evolving technology service, with always up to date access to the latest features in CryEngine for commercial game licensees.

CryEngine users will also benefit from the coming together of Crytek’s Engine Licensing and Research & Development teams; a move designed to double the level of one-to-one care game licensees can tap into, in essence offering Crytek’s R&D as a service for developers using the new CryEngine.

On top of these changes, the new CryEngine supports development on current and next generation consoles (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and WiiU), alongside PC, with further platforms to be added in the near future.

In line with the new services, the all-in-one development solution will no longer be identified by version numbers; reflecting the fact that constant updates and upgrades are always being applied to keep CryEngine at the forefront of its field.

Areil Cai, Director of Business Development – CryEngine said: "Supplying an engine is not about delivering a static piece of software. It’s about Crytek being an R&D team for our game licensees; providing the latest, greatest technology we can, all the time. As an industry, we’re all looking to deliver games as a service now – and we feel the same approach can be taken with game engines. Today's announcement reflects this progress, as well as our ongoing commitment to making sure CryEngine licensees always stay well ahead of the game."

Also commenting on Crytek's announcement, Carl Jones, Business Development Director at Crytek, said: "Since CryEngine 3 was launched in 2009, we've dramatically changed the engine so many times, with so many major new features, it’s not the same engine anymore. We have revolutionised many parts of the engine: we have overhauled our entire lighting system, built movie quality character rendering and animation solutions, vastly improved the speed and effectiveness of our Sandbox editor, and even our rendering has changed with tessellation, pixel accurate displacement mapping and now physical based rendering; all of this while maintaining our first principal: that making games should be real-time, all the time. CryEngine is a new engine from Crytek – and it always will be!”

This week also sees a major update to Crytek's free CryEngine SDK; granting non-commercial users access to a raft of the new features that recently helped to make Crysis 3 a visual benchmark for gaming. It is two years since the launch of the free CryEngine SDK. In that time, the engine has been downloaded over five million times and is used for non-commercial projects every day by a constantly growing community and more than 400 universities. The update to the free SDK will take user feedback on board and remove some restrictions, which prevented users from working offline.

These changes to the CryEngine service are being marked with a new website which can be seen at cryengine.com. Over time, the site will grow to offer new options for game developers, and will ultimately become the central hub for all official CryEngine content online.

个人认为
撇开数据,单凭肉眼看的话
Crysis 2(CryEngine 3)只是在水质方面略胜一筹
Battlefield 3(Frostbite 2)的画面和灯光会更漂亮
而且Battlefield 4将发行
也代表Frostbite 3即将被推出
随时都可能打败CryEngine 3

CryEngine now for $9.90/month, royalty free for indies
CryEngine将面向开发者开展“引擎服务”计划


  游戏制作发行公司Crytek今天宣布他们即将开展“引擎服务(Engine-as-a-Service,以下简称EaaS)”计划。

  CryEngine,被国内的开发者称为“悲伤王子引擎”,由Crytek公司研发,是当前世界排名前三的游戏引擎,《孤岛危机》系列和《崛起:罗马之子》等游戏都采用此引擎开发。

  Crytek公司日前透露,2014年5月开始,独立开发者每人每月只需支付9.90美元/欧元的包月费,就能够使用所有CryEngine的前沿功能。这些功能包括Crytek在今年的开发者大会上刚刚发布的物理着色,几何缓存和图像照明的技术升级。

  计划的其他部分将会在之后发布。CryEngine的SDK还将继续对开发者免费,但如果想使用CryEngine的新功能,就需要加入EaaS计划。

  Crytek的商业发展主管,卡尔·琼斯在接受采访时表示:“新版的CryEngie是我们把引擎作为一个服务项目的第一步。我们真心希望广大开发者能使用CryEngine引擎开发出更多卓越的游戏。我们也将提供最好的服务支持。”

Crytek announces its CryEngine-as-a-Service Program

Game developer and publisher Crytek today announced the launch of its "Engine-as-a-Service" (EaaS) program, making its revolutionary CryEngine technology accessible to a vast new audience.

CryEngine gives users access to the same award-winning toolset that was used to create Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome, and equips them to develop outstanding games across all of today's leading platforms.

As a first tier of its new program, Crytek has revealed that from May this year, indie developers will be able to use all of CryEngine's cutting-edge features for a monthly subscription fee of 9,90 USD/EUR per user - royalty free. Those features include the recently announced addition of CryEngine features such as Physically Based Shading, Geometry Cache and Image Based Lighting - an upgrade already shown in action by Crytek at this year's GDC conference in San Francisco.

More details about the game-changing opportunities on offer to developers as part of the program will be announced in the near future. The CryEngine free SDK will continue to be available under its current terms but developers wanting to take advantage of the new features of CryEngine will need to subscribe to the new EaaS-Program.

Crytek's Director of Business Development , Carl Jones, said: "When we announced the new CryEngine this was our first step towards creating an engine as a service. We are happy to announce now that the latest update of CryEngine will soon be available to all developers on a subscription basis. We are really excited to make CryEngine available to hundreds of thousands of developers working with Crytek to make awesome games.”

The launch of the CryEngine as-a-service program expands Crytek's online service portfolio, continuing on from their step into self-publishing with free-to-play online FPS, Warface.

Crytek 首席绘图工程师Tiago Sousa 离职,转往Id Software开发id Tech 6

  根据Game Spot报导,在Crytek担任首席绘图工程师的Tiago Sousa日前已经从Crytek离职。并转往Id Software发展。而他本人也在个人Twitter证实此消息。

  Tiago Sousa表示他将会致力于《毁灭战士4》(Doom 4)以及该游戏所使用的新一代绘图引擎
id Tech 6的开发。

  Id Software在今年E3展上公开《毁灭战士4》(Doom 4)的预告片,而在今年的QuakeCon 2014 会场上公开。但详细细节不得而知。

  而根据Tiago Sousa在Linkedin的个人页面上,他与Crytek合作10年,并担任绘图工程师开发《极地战嚎》(Far Cry)、《末日之战》(Crysis)所使用的CryEngine。以及由Xbox One独占的《Ryse: 罗马之子》(Ryse: Son of Rome)和一款尚未公开的游戏。

  在Tiago Sousa离职前即有许多未证实的消息指出Crytek有严重的财务危机,也传出在Crytek UK开发《烽火家园:革命》 (Homefront:The Revolution )的制作人Hasit Zala 已经离开他的工作岗位的消息。

  Crytek在2013年以54万4千美金从THQ手中买下《烽火家园》 (Homefront)的版权。并在2014年E3展上公布《烽火家园:革命》 (Homefront:The Revolution )预告片。预计在2015年在Xbox One、PS4和PC发行。

据称《孤岛危机3(Crysis 3)》制作人已离开Crytek工作室

  近几个月以来,《孤岛危机》系列开发商Crytek可谓危机不断。由于遭遇财政问题,他们一直拖欠员工薪资,从而使得许多人才出走,更导致几位核心成员离职。而现在最新的报道显示,《孤岛危机3》以及《Ryse:罗马之子》两款名作的制作人Mike Read也已经离开了Crytek工作室。

  日前外媒注意到Mike Read的推特个人资料显示他已经是该Crytek工作室的“前制作人”了,而且他在LinkedIn中的个人信息中也提到他在该工作室任职的时间在7月就结束。虽然官方并没有正式公开这一消息,不过从这几个月Crytek的离职风波来看,Read在这个时候选择离开Crytek工作室也并不是什么奇怪的事情。

Crytek's official statement

In recent weeks, there have been repeated reports and rumors relating to financial problems at Crytek. Having already given an update to staff across all our studios, we are now in a position to share more details with members of the press and public.

Internally, we have acknowledged that the flow of information to employees has not been as good as it should have, however we hope you understand that communicating details of our plans publicly has not always been possible.

Like the games industry as a whole, Crytek has been in a transitional phase. Our evolution from a development studio to an Online-Publisher has required us to refocus our strategies. These challenges go along with an increased demand for capital which we have secured.

We can now concentrate on the long term strategic direction of Crytek and our core competencies. We kindly ask for your understanding, that we won't be communicating further details about our developments and progress.

Ultimately, with our organization, capitalization, portfolio and technologies we have now laid the foundations for securing Crytek's future - not just in the short term, but also long term.

Through this period of speculation, we are thankful for the support and encouragement we've received from our community and our partners, and for the contribution all of our staff have made. We remain committed to doing what we are best known for and trying to develop the best interactive experiences and technology possible for everyone who loves gaming.

Crytek公开《魔物猎人 Online》《文明帝国 Online》等用CryEngine开发游戏影片

  Crytek 近日公开 2015 游戏开发者大会(GDC)宣传影片,介绍 16 款采用 CryEngine 研发的游戏作品以及技术展示影片。

  在 16 款使用 CryEngine 研发的游戏作品影片中,从大型研发工作室到独立开发商都有,包括《文明帝国 Online》、《魔物猎人 Online(陆版名《怪物猎人 Online)》、受到《暗黑破坏神 2》启发的动作角色扮演游戏《UMBRA》、单人与多人合作动作角色扮演游戏《WindWalkers》等多款作品。

   


  另外,Crytek 也同时公开 CryEngine 技术展示影片,让玩家与研发者感受 CryEngine 的能力。

Crytek signs 'huge' licensing deal with mystery firm

Crytek has signed a major licensing deal with a mystery firm as part of its strategy to put the company on a more stable footing following its troubles last year.

Last year the firm went through well-documented financial difficulties as it struggled to pay staff in full and seemingly stay afloat. Following a turbulent few months, the company eventually released a statement claiming it had secured extra capital to carry on as a business, though this still came at the expense of its Nottingham studio.

Speaking to Develop at GDC, Crytek co-founder Faruk Yerli and head of PR Jens Schaefer said rather than securing funding from an investor as many had believed, the injection of money had come from a new licensing deal that it had been working on for a "long time".

Yerli described it as a “huge" deal for Crytek that would put the firm back on track.

The studio co-founder was unable to elaborate on specific details, such as whether it was to do with its powerful development tech CryEngine that has powered the Crysis series and Star Citizen, but said he was hopeful of announcing the deal with its mystery new partner soon.

“A lot of people are under the impression we had to find a new investor or something, but that wasn’t the case. We made a licensing deal,” said Schaefer.

Yerli added: “It was a huge one, probably the biggest one. I can’t say anything more in detail, but hopefully we’ll be able to announce it with the partner soon.”

We’ll be publishing the full interview with Yerli on the state of Crytek and its plans for the future later this week.
