Early Access Gets Serious: Croteam's Serious Sam VR Hits Steam Early Access on October 17
The virtual Croatians of Croteam and pseudo-real publisher Devolver Digital announce Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is hitting Steam Early Access on October 17. The first-person virtual shooter is $39.99 and supports HTC Vive with support planned for the Oculus Rift upon release of the Oculus Touch controllers.
In Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, players are transported to the first Mental War. Earth's defense forces are crumbling under the hordes of the vicious Mental. He managed to break the will of many nations by destroying the ancient shrines of the domestic people. A fearless EDF general, Sam 'Serious' Stone, is leading the resistance from the Battlecruiser Saratoga in a desperate attempt to save the galaxy.
For the first time, immerse yourself in the universe of Serious Sam – travel the galaxy, meet interesting aliens, and blow the shit out of them all in a mind-blowing, fast-paced, guns-blazin' virtual reality environment. Get into the action immediately after choosing one of several missions, drop in and start wreckin' faces. With new enemies and old favorites, players will pick up and master a variety of increasingly insane weaponry – this is serious business, after all. Use your power ups to navigate your skill tree to be the boldest, biggest and most virtual Sam you can be. Customize or upgrade your gear on the Saratoga battlecruiser in-between missions using in-game currency that has nothing to do with real-world currency.
Get ready to strap it on and get shooting.

Dare to Rise in Eve: Valkyrie, Launching October 13 on PS VR
Hello future pilots.
It’s just over a week until the launch of Eve: Valkyrie on PlayStation VR. The studio here at CCP Newcastle is buzzing, even the Autumn weather can’t dampen our excitement.
Just a few short days from now and our game will be out there in the hands of brand new PlayStation VR owners. Ships will be chosen, squadrons formed, missions flown, alliances made and broken. The Eve: Valkyrie community is standing by to introduce all you new recruits to the things that make Eve: Valkyrie special: the terror of deep space, the glory of flight, and the joy of a hard-won kill.
So what better way to mark the occasion than a Double XP Weekend? From October 14 through October 17, Valkyrie pilots will receive Double XP from every mission they fly. And that’s Double XP for everyone, including our veteran PC players — Eve: Valkyrie is the first ever virtual reality game with full cross-platform play between PC and PS4. Of course, our PC players don’t get the exclusive PlayStation VR content we announced last week, so they might be in a vengeful mood… be careful out there.
If you’d like to know more about the game, or meet our team of VR developers, head to evevalkyrie.com and join the conversation on our forums, or follow Eve: Valkyrie on Twitter.
Epic Games took to the stage at Oculus Connect 3 today to announce Robo Recall, an action-packed virtual reality first-person shooter with gratifying gameplay and an in-depth scoring system that takes full advantage of the Oculus Touch controllers. In Robo Recall, players explore immersive environments in VR as they take on a variety of rogue robots and unlock an expanding arsenal of weapons. Robo Recall is coming in early 2017 and will be free for all Oculus Rift owners.
In this new Unreal Engine 4-powered game, players earn high scores by using creative combat tactics and skill shots as they teleport through city streets and rooftops in an awe-inspiring ballet of bullets.
“VR provides a level of immersion like never before. Our goal with Robo Recall is to take advantage of these new tools to provide an over-the-top, memorable and replayable experience that defines a new generation of shooter,” said Producer Tommy Jacob. “Robo Recall builds on what we learned from Bullet Train in regard to creating an exciting, visceral and comfortable VR experience. We’ve refined and expanded our Touch integration and interaction mechanics, added free movement teleportation that allows the player to explore the environments and made significant improvements to our art quality.”
As seen in the official announce trailer above, players can tear apart their interactive robot foes and use them as weapons against the enemy onslaught. Throughout the course of the game, players will unlock, customize and test weapons back at RoboReady HQ before taking on the increasingly challenging missions that put their newfound skills to the test.

Metro Redux Creators Unveil ARKTIKA.1 for Oculus Touch
From 4A Games, the creators of Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Redux, comes a new vision of the apocalypse. Announced today during the Oculus Connect 3 keynote in San Jose, ARKTIKA.1 is a highly immersive, action-packed, first-person shooter designed exclusively for Oculus Touch. Using the newest version of the 4A Engine and set for release in Q2 2017, ARKTIKA.1 delivers the most impressive visuals ever seen in VR, along with the immersion and world building that 4A Games is known for, in a full AAA package. Experience a post-apocalyptic vision of the future like never before; in full VR.
Check out three amazingly detailed 10K-resolution screenshots:
Nearly a century in the future, the world has fallen into a new ice age in the aftermath of a silent apocalypse. Only the equatorial regions are still habitable, yet pockets of humanity survive in small numbers all over the planet, hanging onto existence in the resource-rich territories to the north and south- resources that everyone wants to control… Protect the colony in the wastelands of old Russia from raiders, marauders, and strange creatures. Be the savior. Give humanity a second chance.
“At 4A Games, we pride ourselves on our ability to make immersive experiences, so creating ARKTIKA.1, a big, atmospheric VR shooter made a lot of sense,” said Andriy Prokhorov, co-founder and creative director at 4A Games. “ARKTIKA.1 is a full-blown ААА title, and we’re employing all of our accumulated experience making high-quality shooters, and also using a lot of new opportunities provided only by VR. Oculus has allowed us to take the immersion to a whole new level, and it would have been a shame to miss such an opportunity.”
“ARKTIKA.1 is everything you’d expect from the team of FPS experts at 4A Games, with a dark and gritty style that only they could achieve,” said Jason Rubin, head of content at Oculus.
