The Halo 5: Guardians launch is right around the corner, and we’re excited to unveil the opening cinematic to the game, featuring Fireteam Osiris – the elite team comprised of:

• Spartan Jameson Locke – Before he was a Spartan, Locke was an ONI Acquisitions Specialist – an expert in tracking, asset recovery, and elimination of high value targets

• Spartan Olympia Vale – A child prodigy, Vale’s innate skill in languages led to a career as a Navy liaison with the Sangheili post-war

• Spartan Holly Tanaka – After surviving the glassing of her homeworld, Tanaka joined the Army, looking for a chance to save others from the same fate

• Spartan Edward Buck – During his service as an ODST, Buck’s personnel profile suggested “if he were any better he’d be a Spartan”

In the cinematic, the group receives UNSC orders to recover a high value target and deploy to take on Covenant and Promethean forces in a fierce action sequence – the start to the most ambitious, robust and epic Halo campaign experience yet.

The breathtaking cinematic was directed by 343 Industries and created in collaboration with some of the video game industry’s leading creative talent, such as AXIS Animation, Profile Studios and Warner Bros.

Halo 5: Guardians Campaign Cinematic Introduces Blue Team

Today, 343 Industries released the cinematic to the second mission in Halo 5: Guardians – “Blue Team” – that introduces players to the titular squad of elite Spartan-II’s as they board a derelict Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) research facility to ensure its contents do not fall into the hands of a renegade faction of Covenant zealots.

Led by the legendary Master Chief, Blue Team grew up together through trials and tribulations of the Spartan-II training program as children, and have become a “family” through the course of countless battles – including Fredric-104, Kelly-087, Linda-058, and John-117.

Halo fans can learn more about the origins of the Spartan-II training program and Blue team in the upcoming animated series Halo: The Fall of Reach. A three-part, animated production, Halo: The Fall of Reach is an adaption of the critically acclaimed Halo novel of the same name, authored by Eric Nylund, and can be viewed via the Halo Channel on Oct. 27 for fans who purchase the Halo 5: Guardians Digital Deluxe Edition, Limited Edition or Limited Collector’s Edition.

This is the culmination of an incredible three-year journey for our team. Together we set out to accomplish an ambitious vision and deliver a Halo game built from the ground up for the Xbox One. Now as we near the release of the game on October 27, we couldn’t be more excited to share the results with you, the fans.

Halo games have always been about epic scale, and Halo 5: Guardians is no exception. From our multi-character campaign to the robust suite of multiplayer experiences included with Halo 5: Guardians, this game is packed to the gills with loads of exciting content.

We will have a multiplayer content update, prior to launch, that will supplement the online multiplayer goodness with map content for Arena Multiplayer and our all new massive-scale 12v12 Warzone Multiplayer. Make sure you have the Power Setting for your Xbox One set to “Instant On” so that you’ll automatically download the online multiplayer update prior to October 27th and be ready on launch day. Those that buy a physical copy will download the online multiplayer update automatically after you install the game on your Xbox One. Next week, the game will be available to pre-download for digital customers, so follow @Halo and we’ll keep you posted when that is ready to go.

Halo: The Fall of Reach Animated Series Trailer Explores Origins of the Master Chief and Blue Team

343 Industries has released an all-new trailer for Halo: The Fall of Reach – an animated series adaptation of the beloved Eric Nylund novel of the same name.

Told in three connected acts, the high-quality animated production is included in the Halo 5: Guardians. Digital Deluxe Edition, Limited Edition, Limited Collector’s Edition and Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Xbox One console. It can be viewed via the Halo Channel when the game launches on Oct. 27.

Halo: The Fall of Reach tells the dramatic tale of the origin and intrigue behind the SPARTAN program that propelled characters like the Master Chief and Dr. Catherine Halsey into the pantheon of Halo lore. The story reveals the events that brought Master Chief and Blue Team together, including their Spartan training and their daring mission to strike back at the Covenant during the first days of the deadly alien invasion.

The animation is produced and directed by SEQUENCE, the award-winning Vancouver-based animation studio responsible for the “Terminals” featured in Halo 4 and Halo 2: Anniversary, and this marks their most ambitious and high-fidelity Halo animation yet.
