Tetsuya Nomura spoke with Famitsu this week, and in doing so, shared a few more details about Kingdom Hearts III. Here’s the latest:
- Two systems for Sora’s new skills
- One system involves a transforming Keyblade
- Other involves attraction park rides
- When the Keyblade transforms, it changes the weapon’s appearance and style of how it’s used
- The attraction park ride features are considered an evolved version of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance’s Freeflow Action
- Attack nearby enemies with various skills that correspond to the attraction ride
- While active, Sora will automatically perform the attacks on his own
- These actions are a big part of Kingdom Hearts III
On another note, Nomura said Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix will be more polished than the previous PS3 compilation.
Revealing the growing world of Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix and Disney Interactive today showcased a new gameplay trailer featuring never before seen footage from Kingdom Hearts III.
Fans of the highly-anticipated title from the celebrated series from Disney Interactive and Square Enix will see Sora and his trusted friends, Donald Duck and Goofy, adventure through the world based on the hit animated feature film, Tangled. The trailer also gives new hints to the storyline and showcases gorgeous visuals, and new gameplay elements.
The world based on the film Tangled is one of many big reveals the team has in store and is the first announcement in a larger, deep creative collaboration between Square Enix and The Walt Disney Animation Studios.
In addition to the gameplay trailer, Square Enix released a special video message for fans from Disney’s Academy Award -winning Producer, Roy Conli and Greg Coleman, VP, Worldwide Marketing and Franchise Management for Walt Disney Animation Studios. In the video, Conli and Coleman share their excitement about the announcement and Conli notes, “I think this is going to be an amazing journey for these guys as they get the richness of our story, and the richness of Kingdom Hearts... It’s going to be a phenomenal experience for the game player.”

Square Enix and Disney Interactive today announced that the beloved characters and world of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award-winning film Big Hero 6 will make their debut in the ever-expanding narrative of Kingdom Hearts III.
The much-anticipated addition to the Kingdom Hearts franchise will take Sora and a cast of Disney companions to the urban setting of San Fransokyo, home of lovable robot Baymax, continuing the events of the animated film.
At D23 Expo 2015, Academy Award-winning producer Roy Conli delighted fans with the announcement that Big Hero 6 characters will be an integral part of Kingdom Hearts III. In a video message for D23 attendees, Conli draws parallels between core elements of the animated film and the overarching Kingdom Hearts story, remarking: “Big Hero 6 is such a special film for me - and we always made sure that each action sequence had a very special meaning. The themes in Kingdom Hearts and Big Hero 6 match very well. For instance there’s friendship, really important to both stories, and then of course light over darkness.”
