Bethesda Softworks Announces Star-Studded Voice Over Cast for The Elder Scrolls Online

Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced the members of the renowned cast lending their voices to The Elder Scrolls Online, the highly-anticipated game arriving April 4, 2014 on PC and Mac and June 2014 for the PlayStation 4 system and Xbox One. The Elder Scrolls Online ensemble includes Academy Award nominee John Cleese ("A Fish Called Wanda," "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"), Golden Globe winner Bill Nighy ("Pirates of the Caribbean"), Kate Beckinsale ("The Aviator," "Pearl Harbor"), Alfred Molina ("Spider-Man 2") and Golden Globe nominees Michael Gambon ("Harry Potter"), and Malcolm McDowell ("A Clockwork Orange"). In addition, Lynda Carter (“Wonder Woman”) returns to the Elder Scrolls series to reprise her role from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls Online is the latest chapter of the award-winning franchise and will bring the legendary experience online for the first time. Players can choose their own style of play as they embark upon an epic adventure across all of Tamriel, playing alone on heroic quests as in previous Elder Scrolls games, exploring the huge, rich world with a few friends, or joining with hundreds of others in massive PvP battles to save the Empire.

"This extraordinary group of actors helps bring the distinctive characters in The Elder Scrolls Online to life," said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. "In The Elder Scrolls tradition, we sought world class talent to add a deep and enriching component to the immersive world the series offers players."

John Cleese plays Cadwell, the cheerful and endearingly mad lost soul who is not afraid of anyone, even a Daedric Prince. Joining the cast as High King Emeric, Bill Nighy portrays a merchant prince whose luck and determination won him the throne. Kate Beckinsale takes on the role of Queen Ayrenn, the leader of the Aldmeri Dominion and Queen of the High Elves who is far more comfortable with a blade than her crown.

In addition, Alfred Molina takes on the role of Abnur Tharn, a wily old wizard and politician who is the head of the Empire’s Elder Council, and the de facto power behind the Ruby Throne. Lynda Carter plays Azura, the Daedric Princess of Dusk and Dawn from Skyrim who is a popular part of Elder Scrolls lore. Michael Gambon voices The Prophet, a mysterious blind man who guides the player through their journey to retrieve their soul; and Malcolm McDowell plays the key figure Molag Bal, an evil Daedric god from another plane who schemes to enslave the mortal souls of Tamriel.

The Elder Scrolls Online cast also includes:

• Peter Stormare (“Fargo”) plays Jorunn the Skald King, an unexpected monarch who led his people into an unlikely alliance.

• Jim Ward ("WALL·E," "Despicable Me 2") voices Mannimarco, a renegade High Elf wizard exiled from the realm for raising the dead and the world’s most powerful necromancer.

• Jennifer Hale appears in the role of Lyris Titanborn, a Nord half-giant, who, along with the Prophet, aids the player on their journey..

• Kevin Michael Richardson rounds out the cast as Sai Sahan a noble martial artist and master swordsman.

The Elder Scrolls Online has been named one of the industry’s most anticipated titles for 2014 and marks a historic point for the franchise with its multiplayer online play after nearly 20 years of developing these best-selling, award-winning fantasy role-playing games for single player only. The previous chapter in this franchise was The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim® which was released in November 2011 and enjoyed worldwide critical and commercial success. As the sequel to the 2002 Role-Playing Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Skyrim earned hundreds of ‘Game of the Year’ awards and sold over 20 million copies.

The Elder Scrolls Online is being developed for the PlayStation4 system, Xbox One, PC, and Mac by ZeniMax Online Studios. The studio is headed by industry veteran Matt Firor who has more than 20 years of online game development experience. Working with Matt is a team of highly regarded professionals who have created some of the best known online games ever released.

Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that it will release The Elder Scrolls Online Imperial Edition – a premium collector’s edition for the highly-anticipated The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls Online Imperial Edition will be made available in digital and limited physical formats. 　　ZeniMax在线工作室游戏设计Matt Firor在PS博客上更新到，Bethesda确定《上古卷轴OL》PS4版不需要PS+会员就可以玩，但是XBOX ONE版则需要XBOX LIVE金会员资格才能玩。

　　Bethesda正在和微软进行谈判以允许玩家们在2014年8月份可以不用XBOX LIVE会员资格来游戏。Firor还透露，本作将支持包月付费方式，包月价格大约14.99美元。《上古卷轴OL》PC版将于4月4日正式启动，家用机版则在6月面市。

　　官方日前公布了《上古卷轴OL》至尊典藏版开箱视频，这次开箱由游戏制作人Loremaster Lawrence Schick亲自完成，除了展示所有物品外，Loremaster Lawrence Schick还对每一件精美的物品进来了全面的说明。

　　《上古卷轴OL》的背景故事讲述发生在塔玛瑞亚大陆上的战争，这场战争发生于《上古卷轴5：天际》的1000年前。未来玩家将可以选择加入3个阵营，每个阵营分别由3个种族组成。黑檀木之心条约阵营由诺德人、黑精灵和亚龙人三大种族组成。先祖神州/复辟精灵王权阵营由高精灵、木精灵、虎人三大种族组成。匕首雨公约阵营由布雷顿人、红色卫士和兽人三大种族组成。

《辐射4》或将在今年PAX East亮相？

　　Bethesda工作室副经理Pete Hines透露，他们将参加今年的PAX East大展，如果幸运的话，我们很可能将看到他们最近开发的神秘新作。

　　去年的游戏发售列表中Bethesda缺席了，整个2013年他们从未发售过任何一款游戏。这种大型制作组在经历长期默默积淀以后，通常都会连续放出数款高品质大作。

　　那么我们是否能在今年PAX展会上看到他们推出万众期待的第四部《辐射》呢？

　　现已有许多泄露文件表明下一部《辐射》将把背景设定在波士顿，PAX East无疑是一个绝佳契机，正式通过官方途径确认本作。而且前阶段Bethesda还发布招聘启事，为“最高端前沿RPG”招兵买马，这也意味着《辐射4》的可能性比以往任何时候都要高。

Xbox One版《上古卷轴OL》每年需付费239.87美元

　　《上古卷轴OL》是一款月费制MMORPG，每月资费14.99美元，PS4玩家不需要办理PS+会员即可享用PS4网络，进入《上古卷轴OL》。但Xbox One玩家则必须开启Xbox Live黄金会员才能享用联网功能。所以计算起来，两款新主机上的《上古卷轴OL》资费情况是这样的：

　　经过简单的数学运算，我们很容易算出，Xbox One版比PS4版贵出了29.98%。当然你可以说这部分Xbox live金牌会员还包括了许多其他增值服务呢。但对于某些只是想玩《上古卷轴OL》的玩家来说，你这不就是“捆绑营销”么，我加300块钱的油，你让我先看一个1200块钱的“攒劲节目”?总之笔者认为微软这种行为十分不讨好。但人家捆绑Kinect都做得出来呢，所以这次的做法也并不让人感到意外。

是真是假？传《辐射4:波士顿阴影》2017年上市

　　近日，在外媒IMDB搜索信息中玩家们惊奇地发现了疑似Bethesda旗下《辐射》系列新作《辐射4：波士顿阴影（Fallout 4: Shadows of Boston）》，本作预定登陆PC、PS3、PS4、Xbox 360和Xbox One全平台，2017年上市。而基于去年12月Kotaku网站曝光的一份秘密文件判断，Bethesda公司的确将一个RPG系列新游戏舞台设定在了波士顿，并且一直在为新作招兵买马中，由此不禁让人联想到《辐射4：波士顿阴影》名称的可靠性。

2K与Bethesda今日联合发行两款经典游戏捆绑组合

　　发行商2K和Bethesda日前联合公布，两家公司推出的两款游戏捆绑组合今日已经开始发售。这两款捆绑组合包括4款游戏，都是过去这两年中备受玩家欢迎和好评的游戏，它们分别是：Irrational Games工作室制作的《生化奇兵：无限》与Bethesda Game工作室（Bethesda公司也负责发行游戏）制作的《上古卷轴5：天际》组合，以及Gearbox Software工作室的《无主之地2》与Arkane工作室的《耻辱》组合。

　　另外《无限》与《天际》的组合还包含了2007年的《生化奇兵》原版。这两款组合都是售价29.99美元，针对PS3、Xbox 360及PC平台。当然这两个组合都不包含额外的DLC内容，需要另外购买。实际上这两家公司不是第一次合作了，早在2009年2K与Bethesda就联合发行过《生化奇兵》原版和《上古卷轴4：湮没》的套装。

Pillars of Eternity Deal Announced by Obsidian and Paradox
《永恒之柱》由Paradox代理发售

　　 在今年的GDC游戏开发者大会上，一个意想不到的伙伴关系得到了宣布，那就是潘多拉互动公司（Paradox Interactive），潘多拉公司（Paradox Development Studio）是拥有《魔能》（Magicka）、《维京之战》（War of the Vikings）等大作的出版商，他们将为黑曜石公司即将推出的幻想RPG《永恒之柱》负责游戏发行工作。

　　 潘多拉公司首席执行官弗莱德·韦斯特（Fred Wester）在大会现场说道：“我们将会与一些世界级的顶尖开发商们进行合作并共同前进，其中就包括与著名黑曜石公司的合作，公司将在今年晚些时候负责向游戏市场发售其大作《永恒之柱》。”

　　 同时弗莱德还保证，Paradox公司绝对不会干预黑曜石公司做自己的事情，他说道：“这是黑曜石公司自己的开发项目，他们保留了对作品创作的控制权，这是他们的知识产权（IP）。我们将只专注于市场营销方面，实现作品的发布和Kickstarter的集资，总得有人负责把这些游戏主题T恤衫送给玩家。”

　　 厄克特不想采用让黑曜石自己负责游戏发售的营销路线，他解释说：“这就是我们为什么要与潘多拉公司合作的原因，他们是一群疯狂的瑞典人，我曾在Interplay娱乐公司干过12年，从1991年直到2003年。我不能说我们熟悉出版，但我们在制作游戏方面的确真棒，所以进行合作发挥两家公司各自的强项才是上策。”

　　 这种合作关系可能不止会发生在《永恒之柱》上，弗莱德表示：“我们期待这种关系可以长期保持下去，虽然我们还不能确定这种关系会延续多久，但我们目前为止关系良好。”



Obsidian Announces Partnership with Paradox

Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The Stick of Truth, today announced that they are entering into a partnership with Paradox Interactive to launch their upcoming role-playing game (RPG), Pillars of Eternity.

Pillars of Eternity, an RPG inspired by classic titles such as Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment, was funded via Kickstarter in late 2012, raising $4.5 million through both backer pledges on Kickstarter and Obsidian’s own website. Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment, stated that every dollar raised through the crowdfunding campaign will be spent solely on the game’s development.

“This game would not have happened if not for the passion and generosity of our backers, and their faith in us to create the game they wanted,” said Urquhart. “How we are developing Pillars of Eternity has not, and will not be, changed; we will deliver the game we promised to our backers, and we will deliver it this year. Having Paradox as a partner, with their expertise in independent games like Pillars of Eternity, lets us put all of our focus on making an incredible game.”

Paradox will assume key marketing and distribution responsibilities for the title, which will support Obsidian by allowing them to concentrate entirely on development.

“When we signed this partnership we called it two independent players in the games industry supporting each other to stay independent by doing what we do best,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “The fans backing this game—many of us included—are looking forward to a classic RPG as envisioned by the designers at Obsidian, and that’s exactly what they’re going to get.”

Obsidian and Paradox have published a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for Pillars of Eternity backers, including further details on the new partnership, and on backer rewards, which will remain unchanged.
