Players Journey Through World War 1 With Ubisoft's Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Today during the company’s Digital Days event, Ubisoft announced the development of Valiant Hearts: The Great War, a new video game that gives players the chance to live a touching yet comical adventure which follows the story of five characters whose destinies cross during the Great War. Valiant Hearts: The Great War will be available in the first quarter of 2014 on current- and next-generation platforms as well as PC digital.
Valiant Hearts is being developed by a small team at Ubisoft Montpellier, known for their work on critically-acclaimed titles like Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. The team is using the UbiArt Framework to easily and efficiently animate the game’s comic-book style, which consists of a wide-ranging color palette – from the dank trenches to green forests and snowy fields – that provides stunning scenic variety and visual contrast. Ubisoft’s UbiArt Framework is a powerful engine that lets programmers and artists to bring their art to life by allowing original concept art to be inserted unedited into the game world.
The story of Valiant Hearts The Great War focuses on the journey of five people as they brave the battles and difficulties of the Great War following their faithful canine companion. The game is set in the Western Front, a crossroads between World War One’s Allied and Central Powers and home to some of the War’s most intense military confrontations. All of the main characters are inextricably drawn together, and friendship, love, sacrifice and tragedy befall each as they help each other to retain their humanity against the horrors of war.

Ubisoft confirmed today that Valiant Hearts: The Great War, the puzzle-adventure game set during the World War I, will release on June 25th, 2014. Ubisoft is proud to announce its association with CC&C (France) and Ideacom international (Canada), two of the most prestigious production agencies specialised in historical productions, as part of the creation of Valiant Hearts: the Great War. Valiant Hearts: the Great War is an interactive adventure showcasing the graphic power of the UbiArt Framework and putting in motion the lives of touching characters lost in the trenches of World War I.
This partnership allowed the Valiant Hearts: the Great War development teams to access the outstanding databases of Apocalypse, World War 1. It was a unique opportunity to update the already-filled game encyclopedia with a significant amount of reworked photographs, which granted players with accurate and striking content to learn more on these major chapters of history.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War is the story of crossed destinies and a broken love in a world torn apart.
