Ladies and gentlemen, the day is here: Housemarque, developer of Sony-exclusive hits such as RESOGUN, Super Stardust: Delta, Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD is extremely proud to announce its brand new PS4 exclusive: Alienation.
Part spiritual successor of the Dead Nation series, part brand new concept, Alienation perfectly fits our portfolio of action-oriented arcade experiences.
Alienation doesn’t only come with all the features you’ve come to expect from an Housemarque title (massive explosions, particle effects, tons of enemies on screen, score chasing, great replayability, online co-op…), but also with some brand new tricks. In Alienation you’ll find:
• A devastating array of conventional, hybrid and Alien weaponry that will allow you to eliminate the Alien swarms in massively destructible environments
• Different player classes, key skills upgrades and customization for weapons to create the hero character that suits the way you play
• 4-players co-op and the possibility to invade other players as mercenary bounty hunters
• Loot and clues collectibles to learn the truth behind the Alien invasion
• Stats tracking and comparisons against other players
More information on the game and its specific mechanics will be released in the upcoming months.
After a long hiatus from the public eye the latest Housemarque title, “Alienation,” is once again ready to see the light of day. Since the reveal at Gamescom 2014 very little information has been leaked about the project and all conspiracies have been squashed. But now we are happy to release the latest batch of samples, straight from the lab, including some new screenshots.
One of the main draw to Alienation from a developer’s perspective is the challenge of creating an excellent multiplayer dynamic. Since the game features three main character classes, plenty of loot, and a ton of weapon customizations, the number of different team setups is astronomical. The first reaction to seeing the gameplay footage might feel a bit like confetti shot from a minigun (we like explosions), but the game actually relies heavily on tactical teamwork amidst of all the chaos.
Our Allied Forces have come across violent specimens ranging from human-like foot soldiers to extraterrestrial flesh mountains, and while they are spreading across all corners of the earth, their focus is clearly to gather at strategic military locations away from populated areas. We’ve met them in all weather conditions and even in the darkest winter nights the hostiles do not relent for a second. The only way to defeat the enemy is with uncanny tactics combined with superior firepower.
Customizing your character layouts will give you and your team a distinct advantage over the beasts from beyond. Many soldiers have returned from the field in a body bag after heading out with too much confidence. The run-and-gun strategy will get you a few victories, but it will not win the war. Coordination and building trust with your teammates will ultimately be the difference between life and death. This trial will not be an easy one, but let’s make sure that the slimebags know that they have come to the wrong planet.
Tune in to the different comms channels in the near future for more info on the invaders. The frequency of contact with the hostiles is increasing at an alarming rate and soon we will need to reach out for brothers in arms and strike back on a global scale. In the end, only one species can be on the top of the food chain and I’m damn sure I’ll be having some Alien BBQ for dinner.
Greetings from Helsinki. We have received warning signs of an impending alien invasion and after much analysis, they are certain that a full blown confrontation is inevitable on 26th April.
Early reports show that there is no need for panic however as a new military sub-section of the UN has been created to specifically handle all incidents of alien outbreaks.
Representing the new force, known as the UNX, Colonel Alexander Clark reports that front line defences seem to be operational and he expects a total eradication of the threat before citizens come into contact with the alien species, dubbed the “Xenos”.
Clark also commented on chaotic footage of an alleged UNX training mission and assures the PlayStation Nation that everything is under control!
Some similarities to a previous “zombie” outbreak (Dead Nation) are visible but Housemarque has clearly upped their game since that last time they had to save the world.
As you can see from the trailer, in Alienation, the Xenos are super-aggressive and cars are literally being blown sky high in the heat of battle. However, the amount of weapons at your disposal and the options to upgrade them are enormous. Heavy casualties are expected but co-operation with other UNX agents is the key to becoming an unstoppable force!
Ilari Kuittinen, one of the founders of Housemarque was recently quoted as saying, “We’ve always been a tech centric company and now we have the chance to prove our capabilities to the world in our most ambitious project ever”.
It really seems that alien related R&D has suited us very well and we look forward to seeing you on the battlefield soon! Alienation is available for pre-order on PlayStation Store from today, with a 10% discount on the launch price.
Meet Alienation’s three unique character classes in brand new trailer
Hi there, Tommaso from Housemarque speaking. Today I’m here to tell you more about the three classes of UNX soldiers available in Alienation. They are “mankind’s last hope” – with alien forces closing in on the last strongholds of humanity, the UNX world government has resorted to mechanised infantry in a last attempt to save the planet. Players can choose from three distinct combat exoskeletons, which grant their users superhuman abilities.
Each class – the Tank, the Bio-Specialist and the Saboteur – is built with a specific playstyle in mind and since the game supports drop-in/drop-out gameplay, your four-player squad’s composition might even change during the course of the same mission!
Each class has a unique primary weapon, three unique upgradable active abilities and three upgradable passive abilities. On release day, players will be able to level-up from Level 1 to 30 in either campaign missions, bounties, or procedurally generated scenarios we don’t want to spoil for you.
Let’s see the classes!
Bio-Specialist
Every game this brutal needs at least one class that heals other players: that’s the Bio-Specialist. That said, she’s also very competent at creating areas of damage using a poisonous trail, or take control of powerful nanomachines to swarm enemies and chip away their HPs.
Tank
The Tank is all about protection and splash damage: if you’re under heavy fire you want one next to you sharing his shield, or if you’re overrun by too many enemies he can blow everything away and give you room to maneuver. Plus, he’s the only character able to command a devastating death ray piercing everything in a straight line!
Saboteur
If you like swift characters you’re gonna love the Saboteur. He becomes invisible, and uses his plasma sword to clear the area in front of him with ease. When some help is needed, he can also call in deadly airstrikes to open paths through a sea of Xenos.
Each class has passive abilities that are divided into three “tracks”: Athlete, Warrior and Survivor. Like the active abilities, each track can be upgraded several times. Each time an Ability point is spent, you’ll be asked to make a tough decision between two possible upgrade options. For example, do you want the Health orbs to give you back more HP or extend the duration of the Xenoflowers boosts?
If you’re worried about spec’ing your character in a way that will bite back during missions down the line, fear not! You can always re-spec your UNX soldier to suit your playstyle.
Sounds fun? Because it is! For those of you who want to see more of our UNX soldiers in action, be sure to check out our latest gameplay trailer above.
We can’t wait for you to get your hands on the game and try out all possible combinations by yourself – remember that you can pre-order the game today straight from PlayStation Store to obtain our unique Alienation dynamic theme and a 10% discount! We’re almost there!
