Spider-Man PS4 is Game Informer’s May 2018 cover story, release date announcement coming April 4
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 is the cover story for the May 2018 issue of Game Informer, the publication announced.
Insomniac Games also teased that Game Informer will reveal the release date for the game tomorrow, April 4.
Here is an overview of the magazine’s coverage, via Game Informer:
We played Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, and we know its release date. The May issue of Game Informer is loaded with new details about the wall crawler’s highly anticipated return to video games. Our hands-on impressions reveal what you can expect from the open world – the missions, side activities, collectibles, and more. We also dive deep into the web-swinging controls, combat complexity, and surprisingly deep upgrade paths, which include suit crafting.
We spent two days in Insomniac’s studio learning about the development team’s vision for Spider-Man on PlayStation 4. The team said the best Spider-Man stories are when Spider-Man and Peter Parker’s worlds collide. That’s exactly what they want to achieve with this game.
Our 14-page article features new screenshots, concept art, and details from Insomniac’s creative director Bryan Intihar, game director Ryan Smith, art director Jacinda Chew, lead writer Jon Paquette, and more. We take you through the opening of the game, the first mission, and plenty of open-world exploration. We also reveal the names of villains you may or may not know.
In addition to its magazine coverage, Game Informer will begin a month of exclusive online coverage at its Spider-Man hub starting tomorrow, April 4, including gameplay footage that shows off the open world and combat, as well as Spider-Man wearing different suits. In the days that follow, the publication will post interviews with Insomniac Games developers.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Swings to PS4 September 7, Collector’s & Digital Deluxe Editions Detailed
You all have been waiting for it for a long time – we’ve got emails, phone calls, tweets, Instagram posts, and impassioned pleas. You want to know when Marvel’s Spider-Man will finally be in your hands.
Everyone here at Insomniac Games is thrilled to announce that Marvel’s Spider-Man will launch on Friday, September 7, 2018 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 system. It’s been an incredible experience for us to spend the last few years working on this game. From getting to create our own unique universe and story for our favorite Super Hero, to working with our talented collaborators at PlayStation and Marvel Games, to developing relationships with the Spider-Man and Marvel fan communities (#SpideySquad represent!), it’s been an amazing journey thus far.
Along with the release date, we get to show you the final box art for Marvel’s Spider-Man! Insomniac has a history of excellent game covers, from Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time to the bold Olly Moss Resistance 3 cover. We went with a pure red background and a striking image of the web-slinger.
Our more experienced Spidey in his brand new Advanced Suit can be seen confidently web-swinging against a bold red backdrop. To juxtapose the unique look of our Spider-Man, his pose takes inspiration from over 50 years of fan-favorite Spider-Man comic book art and artistry. Astute fans of the wall-crawler will see nods to the work of J. Scott Campbell, Mark Bagley, John Romita Sr., John Romita Jr., Joe Quesada and (of course) Steve Ditko, as well as many other iconic Spider-Man artists.
You’ll see this cover adorning the standard edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man when it is available at retail and digitally for US $59.99 / CDN $79.99 MSRP. While many of you have been asking us to show the cover for the game, many more have wondered: will there be digital deluxe and collector’s editions of the game? You betcha, true believers — we’ve got both.
The Digital Deluxe edition of the game (US $79.99 / CDN $99.99 MSRP) will include a copy of the game as well as new story chapters with our post-launch DLC series – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. That’s right, we’ll be supporting the game post-launch and you’ll be getting three new chapters each with new missions, new villains and characters, and additional suits for Spider-Man. More details on that a bit later down the road. Buyers who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive by mail a limited edition collectible pin (only available to residents of US and Canada) featuring Spider-Man as he appears on the cover art for the game.
Of course, for those collectors out there who want an incredible Spider-Man collectible alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man, we have just the edition for you. The Collector’s Edition (US $149.99 / CDN $199.99 MSRP, while supplies last) includes all of the digital content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a Steelbook case featuring the iconic white spider, Mini Artbook from Titan Books, and an awesome Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Gentle Giant. Pay extra special attention to the statue though and you’ll notice something is obviously missing. We haven’t revealed the entire statue for the Collector’s Edition, just Spider-Man perched on top of something. What could that be? It’s too spoilery to show you now, but stay tuned!
That said – no matter where you buy it, or which edition you get, you have a chance to grab these pre-order items. Whether it’s a Spidey-Suit Pack featuring Spider-Punk, as well as a couple suits we will reveal this summer, the Spider-Drone gadget, a PSN avatar, an original PS4 theme designed by renowned comic book artist Adi Granov, or just some extra skill points to unlock faster web-swinging sooner – our pre-order bonus is the total package. Check out this video of Spider-Punk and its suit ability in action below.
That’s a lot of info – but I realize some of you have been dying to get your hands on new information about the game itself as we haven’t said much since Paris Games Week and PSX last year. Well, there are a ton more details in the cover story of the May issue of Game Informer. The GI crew came out and got to go hands-on with Marvel’s Spider-Man, talking to the dev team and bringing you the biggest look at the game yet. Plus we got famed Marvels and Amazing Spider-Man cover artist Alex Ross to create this “Amazing” cover painting for the magazine.
Game Informer will also be posting stories and interviews with members of the Insomniac Games team all month long, so keep an eye on their website for the latest.
That’s all for now – we can’t wait for you to get your hands on the game on September 7, 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4.

(The City That Never Sleeps)的内容是可以让用户购买的;其它游戏内的内容是预购奖励,但是你也可以在游戏中通过资源来解锁它们;用户头像和PS4主题仅为预购用户提供。
Insomniac’s Spider-Man will swing into action early in prequel novel
Titan Books will collaborate with Marvel and Insomniac Games to publish two tie-in books for Insomniac’s upcoming Spider-Man, the first of which will be Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover, a prequel to the events of the game.
“Leading directly into the beginning of the game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover features some of Spidey’s most famous friends and foes,” says Titan’s announcement, exclusively shared with Polygon, “including the Shocker, Echo, the Blood Spider, J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson, and Wilson Fisk – the Kingpin.”
Written by author David Liss (The Ethical Assassin, Black Panther: The Man Without Fear), the book will reveal “Kingpin’s plan to gain an iron grip on New York City,” and establish character relationships and details that will be continued in the game.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man will also join Titan’s long line of game-based art books with Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Art of the Game, written by Paul Davies.
“Packed with never-before- seen images of Spider-Man, his costume and equipment, the Marvel version of his hometown New York, and the deadly villains he battles, fans will learn about every facet of the game, from the initial designs, blueprints, and the breathtaking final concepts,” says Titan’s announcement.
Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover will hit shelves on Aug. 21, 2018, just a few weeks before the release of the game itself on Playstation 4 on Sept. 7. Spider-Man: The Art of the Game will follow on Sept. 11.
Iron Spider Suit Inspired by Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man on Sept 7
It’s been an amazing three weeks since we announced the release date of Marvel’s Spider-Man, coming September 7th, 2018. Your feedback to our release date, collector’s edition, and Game Informer cover story has been tremendous and humbling. Thank you all so much for your support and the kind words on social media!
When we announced the release date, we revealed our pre-order bonus, which includes a Spidey Suit pack containing three suits. But we only showed one suit – Spider-Punk – with the other two being held back to be unveiled later.
Above is an updated look at the pre-order video, with the second suit reveale.
That’s right! Players who pre-order Marvel’s Spider-Man will get an early unlock of the Iron Spider suit inspired by Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. This was a big collaboration between Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac, Marvel Games, and Marvel Studios. And while you may have glimpsed the pre-order video before, you haven’t seen this new video we made to show it off – some of you will even be lucky enough to see this on the big screen before the movie when the film hits theaters later this week.
Getting the opportunity to work with Marvel Games and Marvel Studios on this was another dream come true on this project. Seeing Spider-Man on the big screen in the MCU with his Iron Spider suit is something we are really excited about, and we knew Spider-Man fans around the world would want the chance to unlock our version of the Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War inspired Iron Spider suit in-game. We were given access to the actual CG asset from the upcoming film (in theaters on April 27th!!) to ensure that it was as true to the suit you’ll see at the cinema as possible.
In Marvel’s Spider-Man, having a variety of suits for players to use was a must-have for us. We looked across all of the Spider-Man lore for inspiration, and in the final game you’ll find suits inspired by comics and film, as well as completely original suits created by Insomniac and other artists. Each of the suits looks absolutely spectacular and we can’t wait for you to see more of them.
Beyond that, most suits will also feature a special suit power that you can use in-game. These powers let you do amazing things. While we aren’t quite ready to show them just yet, I did want to mention a couple examples. The Spider-Punk suit lets you rock out with a guitar, doing an AoE attack that’ll knock enemies off their feet. And the Iron Spider has a suit power that… well, you’ll know it when you see it happen in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War.
Be sure to pre-order today, whether it’s on PS Store or at your favorite retailer, to get all Pre-Order bonuses including the Spidey Suit pack. And if you want some wallpapers for your phone, computer or PS4, just visit PS.com here to grab some!
We hope to see all you True Believers out at the cinemas this weekend catching Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War (I have my tickets!). Thanks again to Marvel Studios and Marvel Games for collaborating with us on the suit for the game. For all the latest on Marvel’s Spider-Man, be sure to check out Insomniac Games on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!
