THQ Nordic acquires Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy, War Leaders & Legends of War IPs



THQ Nordic Acquires Multiple Franchises - new additions to the THQ Nordic portfolio

Today, THQ Nordic announced that an asset purchase agreement with Mobile Gaming Studios and Enigma Software Productions has been closed.

Here is an extract of the acquired franchises and brands:

• Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (Mobile Gaming Studios)

• War Leaders: Clash of Nations (Enigma Software Productions)

• Legends of War (Enigma Software Productions)

Lars Wingefors, founder and Group CEO, comments:

“Due to our love for these types of games they were natural acquisition targets, however this financially a smaller acquisition it adds up to our portfolio” said Lars Wingefors Group-CEO, THQ Nordic. “Moreover, we also got a lot of messages from fans that encouraged us to add them to our portfolio. Among these titles, Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is very well suited for the Nintendo audience – which we love to support. We are excited for Nintendo Switch, Nintendos new platform, and already have two other projects in development for it”, Wingefors continues.

Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is a third person action-adventure video game inspired by the mythology of Ancient Egypt. It was originally released for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube.

War Leaders: Clash of Nations is a turn-based global strategy game bundled with a real-time tactics game mode for PC.

Legends of War is a turn-based strategy video game series franchise created in 2010. It was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable.

Baja: Edge of Control HD coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

THQ Nordic has announced the release of another updated 2008 classic, Baja: Edge of Control HD, coming to digital and retail in Q2 2017.

Originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Baja: Edge of Control HD has been re-mastered for PlayStation 4™ and Xbox One with sharp 4K compatibility, a huge selection of vehicles and new environments.

Features of the HD version

• Greater immersion via various graphical improvements including better textures, higher framerate and increased details

• More authentic racing by improved rendering techniques for shadows, lighting and dust effects

• More accessible gameplay due to improved controls, user interface and an easier career start







About Baja: Edge of Control HD

Baja: Edge of Control HD is the carefully remastered version of the original off-road racer from 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This truly unique game contains more than 1,000 miles of the toughest terrain Mother Nature has to offer, including the steepest mountains, thickest mud and deepest canyons known to man.
