Phyllis Chen performing Karlheinz Essl's composition "whatever shall be" (2010) for toy piano, Dreidel, chop sticks, music box and live-electronics. It features a Dreidel which stands for the unforeseeable and a tiny music box which refers to determination. The electronics are created in realtime solely from the live input of the toy piano by employing a computer program written in Max/MSP.
The piece refers to the song "Que sera, sera" from Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Man Who Knew Too Much".
