The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has first details on Left Alive, Square Enix’s newly announced survival action shooter for PlayStation 4 and PC.
Left Alive is a new title prdouced by the Front Mission series’ Shinji Hashimoto, directed by the Armored Core series’ Toshifumi Nabeshima, and featuring character designs by the Metal Gear series’ Yoji Shinkawa. Some Wanzer (mecha) designs will be done by Mobile Suit Gundam 00‘s Takayuki Yanase.
Here are the bullet points:
• Left Alive is a survival action game featuring shoot outs and traps set up with varied placements.
• The game uses the same world and setting of the Front Mission series, chronologically taking place between Front Mission 5 and Front Mission Evolved.
• There are three protagonist, starting with a young protagonist. Next, you’ll become a female protagonist, and switch among the three protagonists as you progress.
• The progression route is up to the player.
• There are replayability elements.
• There is only one ending, but the outcome of the character changes depending on the course you take.
• It uses a stage-based structure.
• There is no Wanzer customization, but you can craft by obtaining weapons and materials.
• It is mainly offline, but that isn’t to say there won’t be any online elements.
• A few Front Mission staff are working on the game.
• There are also robots designed by Yoji Shinkawa.
• Director Toshifumi Nabeshima first joined Square Enix in 2015.
Here are some tidbits from Weekly Famitsu’s interview:
• Producer Shinji Hashimoto: “We wanted to make a Front Mission with a new lineup. We started this new title to see Front Mission in a slightly different perspective.”
• Director Toshifumi Nabeshima: “It’s a third-person shooter. There’s also Wanzer-riding action and stealth elements. How the game is cleared is up to the player.”
• Producer Shinji Hashimoto: “Square Enix wanted to convey the feeling that we cherish Front Mission.”
Left Alive is due out for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2018.
More details have come in.
• The three protagonists are the people featured in the key visual. All three are isolated in the city where the game is set, and each act independently in order to survive.
• Keyword: “The One Day Incident” – The setting is a city in Russia. The game depicts a one day incident that occurs there. A war is happening in the city, and the protagonist will inevitably get caught up in the conflict.
• Wanzer – Since Left Alive is set in the same world as the Front Mission series, the walking-type mobile weapons known as “Wanzers” will appear. Although you will mainly confront Wanzers as enemies, you can also steal a Wanzer away from the enemy.
• Survival Action – The primary objective is survival. The game will have a varied setup, including traps laid out to stir up the battlefield. There is also a crafting element, which allows you to use the materials you obtain to craft items.
• The Route You Take is Up to You – For example, if you head straight to your destination, you may be in danger of having to fight enemies, but you can also take hidden paths and stay out of the enemy’s line of sight, or take a big detour far away from that area. How you progress is up to you.
And here are some more quotes:
• Director Toshifumi Nabeshima: “Since I always place emphasis on things that might give me a sense of accomplishment, it probably is not going to be very easy. (Laughs.)”
• On downloadable content: “We have ideas, so maybe we can do it if the main game does well.”
The rest of the quotes are mixed from producer Shinji Hashimoto, director Toshifumo Nabeshima, and character designer Yoji Shinkawa:
• “I wanted to create a new Front Mission world with a new lineup.”
• “We didn’t do a sequel because we wanted Front Mission to be seen in a different perspective, rather than the so-called ‘robot thing.'”
• “It inherits the world and setup [of Front Mission] without any changes.”
• “The genre is stylistcally a third-person shooter. There are shooting elements, but it’s difficult to clear if you’re only shooting. Wanzer-riding actions and stealth elements are also being put in.”
• “You won’t always be fighting in Wanzers.”
• “The maps are built with limited space, but they’re laid out so that the route to your destination is wide.”
• “The setting is the year 2127. Chronologically, that is between Front Mission 5 and Front Mission Evolved.”
• (Regarding character designs) “When we initially started the Left Alive project, we consulted with Hideo Kojima, Kenichiro Imaizumi, and Yoji Shinkawa, and got their consent.”
• “There are also replayability elements. There aren’t multiple endings, but depending on how you proceed, the outcome the characters meet will change. Depending on your choices, they may be happy or unhappy, may find a solution to a mystery or may not…”
• “There are changes depending on choices that appear in conversation, or whether you abandon or rescue an NPC in need of help.”
• “The game uses a stage-based structure.”
• “There is no Wanzer customization.”
• “We’re not saying there aren’t any online elements, but they’ll be a bonus if we have them.”
(Regarding Nabeshima joining Square Enix) “I heard when he left From Software three years ago, so I used that opportunity to invite him to make something together.”

Square Enix showed the first gameplay of its Tokyo Game Show 2017-announced third-person shooter Left Alive to members of the press at Gamescom 2018. While it did not release that footage to the public, it did release a new set of screenshots.
DualShockers saw the footage, and sat down with director Toshifumi Nabeshima and producer Shinji Hashimoto. Here is the new information shared by the outlet:
• Left Alive is not just a “boots on the ground shooter.” There are also robot battles where one of the game’s three protagonists pilots a Wanzer mecha from the Front Mission series.
• Players will often be able to choose whether to fight the soldiers guarding the Wanzer mechas or take another approach on foot.
• On foot combat is very tactical and offers limited resources. You must use traps, improvised weapons, and crafting to fight against enemies that outgun you.
• Choice is a key element, including the rescuing of civilians trapped in the city. Each civilian has their own motive and backstory, and will take convincing to get them to follow you. You can also choose to abandon them if you are unable to convince them or have stopped caring.
• At the end of the game, you will learn not only what happens to the three protagonists, but also to the civilians you rescued.
A release date for Left Alive has yet to be announced. It will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC.

继承雷霆任务世界观的《LEFT ALIVE》是款描写一夜之间动乱的游戏

Following yesterday’s screenshots and information tidbits on Square Enix’s cover shooter Left Alive from Gamescom 2018, Famitsu has gone up with its own preview of the game with additional details.
Here are the details:
The Beginning of the Story
• The army of a neighboring country suddenly attacks a city it borders. That army massacred not only the city’s soldiers, but also its civilians. “Why is such a tragedy occurring…?” That is one of the mysteries of the story.
• The story develops with a focus on three characters stranded in the city.
• The three protagonists are pictured on the game’s key visual. On the left is a handsome young man who is an active duty, but still inexperienced soldier and Wanzer pilot. The woman on the right is a policewoman and former soldier, who carries the weight of a major trauma that occurred in the past and will rear its head once again in the story. And the man in the middle is an escaped prisoner and former mercenary who was supposed to have been executed, but is somehow still alive.
Gameplay
• Left Alive is a third-person shooter-type action game that plays out through stages and sees the player control one of the three protagonists. There are also situations where you pilot a Wanzer (mech) to fight.
• When controlling the protagonists, the game does not play like a shooter where you can mindlessly shoot off your gun. Your limited ammo and how you manage it will be tied to clearing the stage. If you play it like a typical first-person or third-person shooter, you will quickly run out of ammo.
• The three protagonists have no difference in ability. You will get the same feeling no matter who you play as.
• By combining materials found in the stage, you can craft items like Molotov cocktails and traps.
• Among the items you can craft, there is one that acts as a sonar that gives off the enemy’s position, allowing you to take the most advantageous route. There is also an item weight limit.
• Director Toshifumi Nabeshima: “There are puzzle elements as well as trap action elements, depending on how you use the materials you possess to make items. Based on the structure of the map, you can avoid most enemies, and depending on the weapons and items in your possession, you can play more like a shooter or make use of trap actions. Having a great degree of freedom and highly strategic play was one element that we wanted to implement in this game.”
• Producer Shinji Hashimoto: “It’s not a shooter where you die frequently, it is a game that you can enjoy clearing like a chess problem.”
• Wanzers are large weapons that exist in the game’s world. A threat to the protagonists, their chance of survival when spotted by an enemy Wanzer is considerably low. However, there are means to fight against them.
• If you steal an enemy Wanzer, you can experience the exhilaration of defeating enemy soldiers in a single attack.
In each stage, there are sub-quests with the goal of rescuing civilians stranded on the battlefield.
• Sub-quest conversations have dialogue trees, and depending on your choices, the civilians’ level of confidence in the protagonists will fluctuate.
• There are also sub-quests that occur in real-time, where the player’s actions themselves become their “choices.” For example, if you encounter a situation such as civilians being held up at gunpoint by enemy soldiers that will be shot to death after a certain amount of time passes, you can either act fast to rescue those civilians on your own or ignore them and let them die.
• Director Toshifumi Nabeshima: “The player will be forced to make various choices in the story and as they play the game. One of the major concepts of this game is to make the player find a solution, take action, and move forward through trial and error.”
On the results screen after clearing a stage, you will have the option to replay that stage from the beginning.
• When asked about the game’s release date, producer Shinji Hashimoto said, “We will share various new information in September, so please look forward to it.”
• Left Alive will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC. 作者: kirassss 时间: 2018-9-2 11:02 PM 动作生存游戏《LEFT ALIVE》将主要提供单机游戏体验 线上的内容非常有限!

Square Enix has released new information and screenshots of its upcoming third-person survival action game Left Alive, introducing the prologue, three protagonists, and survival action.
■ Prologue
December, 2127.
The Garmoniya Republic, which is situated next to the Black Sea, suddenly declared war against its neighboring country, the Ruthenia Republic.
The invasion of the border city Novo Slava had begun.
The Ruthenia Army’s defense force, which were hit by the surprise attack, completely collapsed, and the battle seemed to end in the blink of an eye.
However, the adjacent battle for those left behind in the aftermath of the war is about to begin.
■ Characters
Mikhail Alexandrovich Shuvalov
A Wanzer pilot for the Ruthenia Army’s Second Mobile Platoon. While inexperienced, his basic abilities as a pilot are highly valued. However, his minor breach of discipline stands out, and many members of the army treat him as a problem child.
While defending the streets of Novo Slava, attacked by the Garmoniya Army, his unit encountered the Wanzer force regarded as the enemy’s main strength and suffered a devastating attack that dealt heavy damage to his Wanzer.
Although he just barely managed to escape his Wanzer, he found himself isolated without any ally forces nearby.
Olga Sergevna Kalinina
An officer of the Novo Slava police. Although she was once a Wanzer pilot for the Garmoniya Army, she was involved in the Novo Slava liberation movement and lost her only daughter during the armed conflict that occurred between the army and the people. She left the military in its wake.
She became a citizen of Ruthenia when the country annexed Novo Slava. Then she became a police officer.
Although she exhibits excellent ability as a police officer and makes efforts to improve the public order of Novo Slava, her independent actions based on her own judgments stand out. She is pursuing the human trafficking incidents frequently occurring in Novo Slava.
Leonid Fedorovich Osterman
A leading member of the Novo Slava liberation movement group NGFP. Originally a mercenary, he was hired by the group as a bodyguard as the armed conflict intensified. As he continued to work for the group, he gradually began to sympathize with its ideals and became a core member that oversees armed conflict.
When the group leader was later assassinated, he was captured as the perpetrator and sentenced to death. While he consistently denied the crime and has no known motives, his guilt was decided by several pieces of evidence. Although the death sentence was already publicly executed and he was supposed to have died, he has actually been imprisoned. When the battle breaks out in the city of Novo Slava, he escapes.
He himself knows nothing of the details of the crime he was charged, nor does he know why he was kept alive in the aftermath.
■ Survive on a Battlefield Dominated by Enemies
The three protagonists, left behind in a city that has become a battlefield, will fight in order to survive and achieve their goals in a new survival action game that inherits the world setting of the Front Mission series.
The game progresses via the three protagonists Mikhail, Olga, and Leonid. Each with their own circumstances, the story of those left behind on the battlefield will begin.
As materials are limited, including bullets, it will be extremely difficult to take on battles head-on against a large group of enemies. This is a game with a feeling of strategy, such as choosing a route to avoid enemies and fighting using traps.
What is the reason behind Garmoniya’s sudden invasion of Ruthenia? As the protagonists proceed onward, they’ll encounter glimpses of conspiracy.
Whether infiltrating or using traps, there are various options outside of firefights. There are also elements that change based on player decisions outside of battle.
