THQ Nordic today announced that hack-n-slash action adventure Darksiders III is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, and is slated for release in 2018.
“As promised, we have taken our time to ensure that this next Darksiders will be everything action-adventure gamers and especially Darksiders loyalists could dream of and more,” said Lars Wingefors, Co-Founder and Group CEO, THQ Nordic AB.
The company also announced that it is working with the team at Gunfire Games, which is largely comprised of the original creators of the Darksiders franchise, on development of the long and highly-anticipated project.

IGN has gone up with the first ever hands-on preview of Darksiders III, providing first details and new gameplay screenshots.
The hands-on preview discusses the game’s inter-connected world, and how puzzles will make sense in their environments, enemies will feel like they belong in the world, and how they’re won’t be any out-of-place treasure chests or gated combat. You’ll always be able to see the next place you haven’t been to yet just out of reach, and each new environment is shaped by a unique boss, like terraforming. 12 minutes of Darksiders III gameplay
IGN has gone up with the first ever gameplay from Darksiders III—-12 minutes of pre-alpha footage.
The newly announced, action adventure sequel follows Fury in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. Fury is called upon by The Charred Council to batttle “from the heights of heaven down through the depths of hell” in a quest to restore humanity and prove that she is the most powerful of the four Horsemen.
Darksiders III is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018.

The two previously announced downloadable contents for Darksiders III due out after the game’s release are titled “The Crucible” and “Keepers of the Void,” publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games announced.

The Crucible
Fury’s presence has been requested by a strange entity wishing to test her skills in battle. Never one to back down from a challenge, Fury accepts the invitation and gains access to a location known only as the Crucible. Here, Fury will fight wave after wave of enemies, competing for a chance to unlock new rewards and items.
Keepers of the Void
On a quest from Vulgrim, Fury must travel into the Serpent Holes to remove an ancient threat that resides there. The Serpent Holes are riddled with various new puzzles and enemies eager to test Fury’s abilities. If Fury prevails, she will unlock all new weapon from the Hollows, as well as the biggest prize of them all: The Abyssal Armor.
Darksiders III is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 27.
