Star Wars Battlefront II Comes Out of Hyperspace This November
Dark-armored troopers stand beneath the smoldering remains of the shield generator on the Forest Moon of Endor. Their faces turn skyward to the distant menace of the Death Star looming overhead, a symbol of order in a war-torn galaxy. Like the Empire itself, the colossal battle station stands immutable, impregnable, and eternal. And with a flash of white, it explodes into a midday star.
Welcome to Star Wars Battlefront II, with a new story mode taking players on an epic journey from the battle of Endor to the rise of the First Order. The prequels, original trilogy, and new era meet in a vast multiplayer adventure coming November 17 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin on PC. If you're a member of Origin Access or EA Access, you'll be able to start playing on November 9.
Star Wars Battlefront II introduces a new single-player Star Wars story. You play the role of Commander Iden Versio, leader of the Galactic Empire’s elite special forces unit, Inferno Squad. After witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star, Iden’s team embarks on an extraordinary odyssey of revenge, betrayal, and redemption spanning the 30 year gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Along the way, she and her companions encounter a cast of Star Wars' greatest characters. You'll take control of many of these beloved heroes in an adventure ranging across a series of fantastic planets, including awe-inspiring settings you've never seen before.
These Hero characters are also highlighted in the vastly-expanded multiplayer. Darth Maul, Yoda, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, Rey, and many more iconic (and feared) characters from all three cinematic eras will be playable. In certain modes, you'll be able to pit heroes from the prequels trilogy, original trilogy, and new trilogy against one another in combat.
Up to 40 players will be able to simultaneously enjoy the deep class-based online gameplay, with a rewarding progression system, extensive hero customization abilities, and a larger arsenal of weapons with improved modification options. Pilot a variety of new starfighters in Space Battle scenarios, and ride tauntauns across snow-covered fields.
In planetary engagements, you'll be transported to some of Star Wars' most iconic battlegrounds: Theed, Takodana, Starkiller Base, Yavin, Mos Eisley, Endor, Hoth, and more. You will also cooperate against AI foes in skirmishes that span the cinematic eras, and engage enemies in entirely new modes.
Anyone who pre-orders the Standard Edition will get a whole range of rewards, including exclusive* Star Wars: The Last Jedi-themed looks for Kylo Ren and Rey, an ability modifier that upgrades the Millennium Falcon, epic ability modifiers for Rey and Kylo Ren, and more. Players purchasing the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition receive upgraded versions of all Trooper classes, a A280-CFE blaster rifle† instant weapon unlock, an enhanced scope modification, and an epic ability modifier.
You’ll be able to play Star Wars Battlefront II on:
• November 9 for EA Access and Origin Access Members with the Play First Trial
• November 14 if you pre-order the Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition release
• November 17 in the Worldwide release
You'll be seeing much more of Star Wars Battlefront II later this summer at EA Play. In the meantime, keep your eyes on EA Star Wars for the most up-to-date news and announcements on what's happening next.

Believe in the Empire as Inferno Squad
You know what happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away above the forest moon of Endor. As a massive attack raged in space around the second Death Star, Rebel pilots flew through the battle station's winding superstructure and destroyed the Empire's most powerful weapon. The Alliance and their Ewok allies celebrated as jubilation spread to the far corners of the galaxy.
But the destruction of the Death Star wasn’t the end of the war... Endor was only the beginning. And it’s during this violent period of uncertainty and turmoil that Inferno Squad set out to fulfill their destiny and avenge their Emperor.
Inferno Squad is an Imperial special-ops team, trained as both deadly starfighter pilots and elite commandos. Deeply committed to the rule of law, Inferno Squad is an Imperial shield against the chaotic threat represented by the Rebel Alliance. Fearless in the face of sedition, they strike unseen and then fade back into the darkness of deep space. As the story of Star Wars Battlefront II opens, you'll accompany them on a journey though the Empire's final, desperate hour.
Inferno Squad crisscrosses the galaxy aboard the Imperial Raider Corvus, traveling to where their highly-refined skills are most needed. Through the story of Star Wars Battlefront II, their exploits will bring them face to face with some of the New Republic's most famous heroes... and also with some of the dark side's most sinister agents.
With control of most star systems slipping through the Empire's dying grasp, Inferno Squad struggles to fulfill the special orders that the Emperor left behind, and in the process must make difficult choices in the face of challenges they've never imagined. Even as the remains of the Death Star II floated into space, they believed in the Empire - and you'll join their ranks on November 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC. Pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II now and get Star Wars Battlefront II: The Last Jedi Heroes bonus content on day one.

Explore All 11 Galactic Assault Maps
From the dense forests of Kashyyyk to cold halls of the Death Star II and the ominous Starkiller Base, all three cinematic eras of the Star Wars™ saga are coming to Star Wars Battlefront II's multiplayer. At launch, you'll be able to wage war across eleven spectacular battlegrounds in the multi-stage Galactic Assault mode, where each map has its own unique objectives to complete. Two teams of twenty players will take part in a series of unique combat narratives unfolding across Star Wars ' extraordinary locations as the sights and sounds of battle unfold around them.
Got all that? Now for a closer look at the maps...
Prequel-Era Maps
Kamino
The waves of Kamino crash beneath the slender platforms of a Cloning Facility as armies of battle droids descend on the artificial island. Their aim is simple: destroy the Republic's ability to produce more clones. The attackers make their way through the twisting paths and laboratories, hacking computer systems and taking down defenses as they fight toward the final goal: the fusion core. Clone forces will use all their wits and skills to stop them.
Kashyyyk
On Kashyyyk, a Separatist army storms ashore in a thundering amphibious landing. Infantry storm up the beach escorted by flights of Vulture Droids and immense AATs. Awaiting them are Wookiee Warriors and clone troopers dug in behind Juggernaut combat vehicles to defend a grounded Star Cruiser. The invaders make their way from the waters' edge alongside two massive MTT's, blasting their way through Republic defenses in an effort to destroy the ship.
Theed
You've already gotten a good early look at Theed thanks to the EA PLAY livestream reveal, but in case you missed the fun, it's a three stage assault on the capital of Naboo. Squads of droids protect a colossal MTT as it lumbers its way toward the Royal Palace. N-1 Starfighters scream overhead and AT-RT walkers prowl the streets as Separatists and Republic forces fight for control of the city. Once the doors are breached, a close-range melee begins within the palace itself, with B2 Super Battle Droids and Clone Jumptroopers lending their firepower to the chaos.
Original Trilogy-Era Maps
Death Star II
As the Battle of Endor rages all around it, an Alliance CR90 Corvette loses control and crashes straight into an open hangar on the massive Death Star. The surviving Rebels must fight their way out and quickly find another ship and escape before the Death Star itself explodes! To get out, the Rebels disable the tractor beam, disarm nearby weapons systems, and finally steal a shuttle and make good their departure. In the tight corridors and choke points inside Death Star II, there is little room for vehicular combat. Troopers, special characters, and heroes struggle at close range to overcome their enemies in an old-fashioned boots on the ground battle to the end.
Endor
The tables have turned! Rebel saboteurs work quickly to steal an AT-AT walker and use it to attack a hidden Imperial base on Endor. This night battle begins with an Alliance attack on the walker. Should the Rebels manage to overwhelm the defenses around the AT-AT, they take control and set it on a march toward the Imperial outpost. Speeder bikes streak through the woods of the forest moon as Imperial AT-STs and their infantry try and head off the attack. The fight culminates with a brawl on the threshold of the base itself.
Mos Eisley
Imperial stormtroopers rush from Llambda-class shuttles into the crowded streets of Mos Eisley. The massive limbs of AT-ST walkers kick up sand as Rebel blaster fire explodes all around them. The Imperial objective is simple: destroy the Alliance U-wing housed in a landing bay. To get there, they'll need to fight through the outskirts of the city, secure the markets, and finally destroy their target. But the Rebels won't surrender without a fight... X-34 Landspeeders wait in ambush and Alliance A-wings are waiting to pounce on the Imperial invaders.
Yavin 4
Deep within the heart of the Great Temple on Yavin 4 is a secret of key importance to the survival of the Rebel Alliance. But Imperial ground forces have arrived! Death Troopers and stormtroopers must take out defensive turbolasers to open up the position, fight through the outlying Rebel outposts, storm the gate, and finally breach the inside of the massive complex and secure the data. Wookiee Warriors, U-wing gunships, and Rebel soldiers stand in the way of the relentless Imperial advance.
Hoth
The icy wastes of Hoth are home to one of the Galactic Civil War's most momentous battles. Plodding AT-AT walkers advance toward the Rebel position under air cover by TIE fighters, TIE Bombers, and TIE Interceptors, as Rebel defenders and their screen of A-wings, Y-wings, X-wings, and T-47s try and take down the AT-ATs and hold the position. Should the Imperials breach the defenses, their target is first the hangar bays. Once those are taken, their focus will shift to the internal fuel depot which they will detonate to obliterate the base.
The Force Awakens-Era Maps
Starkiller Base
As the fighter attack rages above Starkiller Base, the Resistance makes a daring raid to rescue prisoners trapped inside the Imperial base. Troopers attack the external defenses, taking out guns and TIEs on the ground and trying to free the captives before the planet explodes. The First Order forces are soon airborne, however, counterattacking with TIE/FO and TIE/SF starfighters as the Resistance fight to secure the gate. The battle then reaches a climax as the Resistance override the security doors to extract the prisoners and get them to transports in a waiting hangar.
Jakku
First Order forces have trapped a group of Resistance fighters within the derelict hull of a crashed Star Destroyer in the desert of Jakku. The Resistance have located some data of key interest and are desperately attempting to evacuate it. The First Order attackers must first cut off the Resistance's access to nearby landing pads to keep them from escaping, then storm the ship, locking down the supply hold, taking control of the exits, and finally heading topside to prevent a rescue by transports landing from above.
Takodana
On Takodana, the First Order moves against Maz Kanata's castle. Resistance forces have taken up a defensive position inside. The First Order advances methodically, capturing the nearby Memorial Hill as a staging area, moving on to attack the outer defenses and finally the castle itself, including a shootout in Maz's iconic cantina.
These maps are ready for Star Wars' most beloved vehicles, reinforcements, heroes and villains to join the action, summoned by the Battle Points you earn in combat. And you'll be able to apply the Star Cards you've earned as rewards for previous engagements to customize the abilities of your favorite trooper or hero.
We're only days away from the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II Beta starting October 6. Pre-order before October 1 to start playing the Beta up to two days early. There's much more coming soon to EA Star Wars on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, so keep your eyes open for details on maps, heroes, and more.
What the Messenger Tells Us About Star Wars Battlefront II
The death of the Emperor wasn’t the end of the Empire. While the fall of the nefarious leader sewed confusion among the ranks, the surviving officers of the Imperial navy still wield influence over vast fleets and powerful forces. But even from beyond the grave, the Emperor’s destructive control holds sway over the galaxy… not just over his enemies, but also over the servants who failed to protect his life.
Part of that vengeance is enacted by Messenger droids, one of which plays a key role in the single-player story of Star Wars Battlefront II.
Messengers are agents of the Contingency – the Emperor’s sinister plan put into effect in the event of his untimely demise. Outlined in Star Wars Shattered Empire and Star Wars Aftermath, the Contingency punishes Empire and Rebellion alike.
Messengers are foreboding droids. They bear the visage of the dead Palpatine, and some are equipped to enforce his will not just with words, but with violent action. Early in Star Wars Battlefront II, a Messenger tasks Iden and her father, Garrick Versio, with terrifying instructions. We don’t want to reveal much more about this critical sequence, but its pretty clear that Iden’s “unusual” mission will place her on a collision course with the last wishes of the fallen Emperor.
The Messenger is just one of many story connections to the broader Star Wars galaxy revealed in the new single-player campaign. You’ll be learning much more about Iden, her teammates Del and Hask, and many of your favorite Star Wars characters in Star Wars Battlefront II, launching November 17.
However, you won’t have to wait until then to go hands-on with the game. The Star Wars Battlefront II multiplayer beta is coming October 6 (or October 4 if you pre-order). Stay tuned for more news leading up to the game’s release.

A brand new trailer highlighting the single-player story of Star Wars Battlefront II has arrived. With the Emperor dead, can Commander Iden Versio and her allies turn the tide against an energized Rebellion?
Just in case you’re not familiar: Star Wars Battlefront II includes an original single player campaign set after Return of the Jedi. You’ll take on the role of Iden Versio, (played by Janina Gavankar), Commander of Imperial special forces unit Inferno Squad. Alongside her squadmates Del Meeko (T.J. Ramini) and Gideon Hask (Paul Blackthorne), Iden struggles to maintain order in a galaxy that seems to be crumbling all around her.
The new single player campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II is an original story set after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. It's no secret that Iden Versio and Inferno Squad will be crossing paths with some of the galaxy's most renowned characters, but they'll also be encountering elements that are originally from other Star Wars stories. There are multiple mediums, comics, novels, television, films, games, and more, that tell new or unique stories that take place within the Star Wars universe. Star Wars Battlefront II helps enrich the universe by telling a previously untold story that is able to build upon what has already been established.

Change will be a Constant in Star Wars Battlefront II
Since the start of the project, listening to fans has been important in making sure Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II is the very best experience for all of you. We’ve done this with the closed alpha, through the beta last month, and our Play First Trial. And we continue to make adjustments based on your feedback as the game launches worldwide this week. Listening, and providing choices in how you play, will always be our principle with Star Wars Battlefront II. We want to ensure the game is balanced and fun both today and for years into the future.
Making games great comes from regular tuning. As one example, today we’re making a substantial change based on what we’ve seen during the Play First trial. There’s been a lot of discussion around the amount of in-game credits (and time) it takes to unlock some of our heroes, especially Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Unlocking a hero is a great accomplishment in the game, something we want players to have fun earning. We used data from the beta to help set those levels, but it’s clear that more changes were needed.
So, we’re reducing the amount of credits needed to unlock the top heroes by 75%. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits. Based on what we’ve seen in the trial, this amount will make earning these heroes an achievement, but one that will be accessible for all players.
It's a big change, and it’s one we can make quickly. It will be live today, with an update that is getting loaded into the game.
We’ve also been listening to how much you’re loving features in the game (Starfighter Assault, 40 player MP battles, Darth Maul lightsaber throws, etc.) as well as what you haven’t liked. We know some of our most passionate fans, including those in our subreddit, have voiced their opinions, and we hear you. We’re making the changes to the credit levels for unlocking heroes and we’re going to keep making changes to improve the game experience over time. We welcome the conversation.
In fact, this Wednesday we’d like you to join us for a Reddit AMA with some of the key leads on our team. Stay tuned to our social channels for more info on the AMA, and our blog for continual updates on what we’re seeing, hearing and adjusting in the game.
For those of you already playing, thank you. For those of you looking forward to playing the Star Wars™ game you’ve been waiting for, thank you, too. The team is fully committed to listening to our community, continually adjusting the game, and providing even more great Star Wars content over the upcoming months and years of live service updates. More to come.
