Funcom Announces New Open-World Survival Game 'Conan Exiles'
"I walk in a land of desperation. A wasteland of the exiled and the outcast. Where the broken strive to build and the weak are crushed while the strong survive."
These are the words of Conan the Barbarian as he strides across a desert wasteland, skulls and bones crushing beneath is sandaled feet, in the brand new cinematic trailer released today announcing Funcom's new game 'Conan Exiles'. Available on PC in Early Access this summer, with a full launch on both PC and console to follow, 'Conan Exiles' challenges players to survive, build and dominate in the brutal world of the greatest fantasy hero of all time: Conan the Barbarian.
"There is no better setting for an open-world survival game than the world of Conan," said Joel Bylos, creative director at Funcom. "Hyboria is a harsh and unforgiving land where only the strongest can survive while the weak are swiftly cut down. Whether it is hunting animals for food, fighting monsters and other players, or building entire settlements, we want to make sure players feel like they are really fighting to survive and prosper in the most brutal fantasy world ever."
'Conan Exiles' is first and foremost a multiplayer game that can be enjoyed on both private and public servers, but it will also feature a single-player mode.
You are an exile, one of thousands cast out to fend for themselves in a barbaric wasteland swept in sandstorms and besieged by enemies on every side. Grow crops or hunt animals for food. Harvest resources to build weapons and tools. Build a shelter to survive. Ride across a vast world and explore alone, or band together with other players to build entire settlements and fortified strongholds. Unleash your fury in savage, fast-paced combat and execute bloody and bone-crushing attacks that will see heads rolling and limbs flying. Fight other players to dominate the exiled lands, and even call upon the wrath of the heavens to aid you by sacrificing enemy players on the alters of the gods.

Funcom Releases New Video and Screenshots of 'Conan Exiles'
Last month Funcom announced that the company is working on an open-world survival game set in the brutal lands of Conan the Barbarian, and that the game will enter into Early Access on the PC this summer. Today, Funcom is excited to release three new screenshots and a brand new behind-the-scenes video offering a further look into 'Conan Exiles'.
'Conan Exiles' is an open-world survival game set in the brutal lands of Conan the Barbarian, the world's greatest fantasy hero. The game can be played on private and public servers, either in multiplayer or local single-player. You start out as an exile, one of thousands cast out to fend for themselves in a barbaric wasteland, and from there you must hunt for food, grow crops, gather resources, craft tools and weapons, and build a shelter.
You can also band together with other players to build entire settlements and fortified strongholds, and wage war against your enemies as you unleash your fury in savage, fast-paced combat that will see limbs flying and heads rolling. You can even align yourself with the Hyborian gods, building altars to their glory and sacrificing the bloody hearts of enemy players upon them to shift the balance of power in your favor. Players will also have to face the purge: a special event where NPC armies from the neighboring kingdoms sweep in to destroy the progress that the exiles have made. Funcom to Release Conan Exile Into Early Access on September 13
Funcom, the independent developer and publisher of computer and console games, today announced that the company’s open-world survival game ‘Conan Exiles’ will enter into Early Access on September 13th, 2016. The company cut the ribbon to the official Steam page today, where Early Access will kick off, with full launch on PC and consoles to follow. The company also released the first ever trailer featuring pre-alpha gameplay footage, finally giving fans a glimpse at how the game looks in motion. The video is available in eight different languages.
“We’re very excited (and a bit nervous) about launching our first Early Access title,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais. “The team wants to give the players the best possible experience, and while we are used to working on a game for several years before letting players in, this time around we will let players in just nine months after development started! As with any Early Access games, some features and content will be more finalized than others, and players will be able to help us focus on what’s important to them so that we can improve the game and flesh out content and systems before full launch.”
‘Conan Exiles’ will first become available as an Early Access title, meaning certain content and features will be more complete than others when first available. Over time Funcom will work with the community and players and focus on what is important to them when deciding what to improve, what new mechanics and content to add. Players can expect the game to improve significantly over the course of the Early Access period, on everything from graphics to content and systems.
Conan Exiles is an open-world survival game where players are cast into a barbaric wasteland where the weak are crushed and the strong survive. Here they must survive, build, and dominate on their own or in multiplayer on public and private servers. Players will get to explore a vast, seamless world full of dangers and rewards, and they must harvest resources to craft weapons, tools, and even buildings and entire settlements. The game features bloody, visceral combat and will see players clash in epic fights for domination of the barbaric lands. The game is set to enter Early Access on September 13th, 2016, with full launch on PC and consoles to follow.

Funcom Showcases Conan Exiles' New Looks, 360 Degree Screenshots Bring the World of Conan Alive
In less than three months, gamers everywhere will get to follow in the bloodstained footsteps of the world’s greatest fantasy hero as Conan Exiles, Funcom’s upcoming open-world survival game, hacks and slashes its way into Early Access. The development team is currently hard at work bringing the world of Conan to life, and today Funcom released a collection of new screenshots which captures just how far the game has progressed visually the past few months.
Funcom is also thrilled to announce it has teamed up with NVIDIA to implement their cutting-edge Ansel® technology which lets players take breathtaking 360 degree screenshots of the game. These screenshots can even be viewed in VR with devices such as Vive, Oculus Rift, and mobile VR. Very soon gamers on both PC and Xbox One will get to journey to that very age in Funcom’s upcoming open-world survival game ‘Conan Exiles’. On January 31st, 2017, the open-world survival game ‘Conan Exiles’ will be entering Early Access on the PC, with Xbox One Game Preview to follow later this spring. In a brand new video released today, developers give a unique glimpse into the building, the crafting, and the many different ways players can destroy their enemies’ settlements in ‘Conan Exiles’.
“They say that home is where your heart is, but in ‘Conan Exiles’ home is where you keep the hearts of your enemies,” says Joel Bylos, Creative Director at Funcom. “Building is a big part of ‘Conan Exiles’ and you will need to build smart and build strong in order to defend yourself from the environment, cannibals, monsters, and of course enemy players. We are working hard to make sure players have powerful tools to build and defend their kingdoms.”
In the new video released today, Joel Bylos and Lead Designer Oscar Lopez Lacalle talk about how players can build on mountainsides using a very flexible building system, and how you and your enemies will be able to summon giant avatars of the gods that can wreak havoc and destruction on anything made by players. They highlight the fact that ‘Conan Exiles’ is anything but an empty sandbox: here players will discover remnants of ancient civilizations, and they must build on top of and in between the dilapidated ruins of vast, forgotten cities.
Funcom is also excited to announce that Joel Bylos and Community Manager Jens Erik Vaaler will host another live gameplay stream on Twitch.tv/Funcom today. In just 11 days the barbaric open-world sandbox survival game Conan Exiles launches into Early Access on PC. The past two months has seen the Conan Exiles community grow rapidly as Funcom has revealed more and more information about the game including releasing the first two trailers based on the game’s ‘Survive, build, dominate’ tagline. Today Funcom is excited to release the ‘domination’ trailer revealing how players must engage in savage war and brutal combat to dominate the Exiled Lands.

“Take control of a towering god and drive your enemies before you as you crush their homes and conquer their land,” says Joel Bylos, Creative Director at Funcom. “That is the epitome of player vs. player conflict in Conan Exiles. We are giving players a huge, detailed open world where they can go out build a village, a city, or a vast empire in their name. If you are on a PvP multiplayer server, just remember there is always someone willing to take that from you!”
Combat is a key aspect of Conan Exiles and players will engage in brutal battles using anything from swords to warhammers and longbows. A violent fatality system ensures that they can slice each other in half or even see their own head rolling away from them in what is a savage and bloody combat system true to the spirit of the world’s most famous barbarian. To dominate the Exiled Lands, players will also have to build cities and fortresses to claim land, and they must go out and capture thralls to help them defend their settlements or create special weapons and armor. To truly dominate Conan’s world, they must also build altars to their god and bring them sacrifices to appease them. If they earn the blessings of their god, players will ultimately get to summon and take direct control of huge, towering avatars of the gods that can roam the world and crush both bodies and buildings under their weight. There will be several countermeasures against avatars and players can also choose to run and play on servers without avatars if they want to.

Funcom Reveals ‘The Frozen North’, Promises a Bigger and Better Conan Exiles on August 16
The second stage of Conan Exiles’ Early Access adventure is about to begin! On August 16th, Conan Exiles not only goes live on Xbox One for the first time ever; Funcom will also release its first expansion update for the game for both PC and Xbox One players. Previously teased at E3 this year, Funcom today revealed both the title and all the juicy details players will want to hear about the expansion update.
A new web page is now available on conanexiles.com/thefrozennorth, where players can learn all the details about The Frozen North. Funcom today also released a brand-new video where Creative Director Joel Bylos provides a unique glimpse into the expansion update.
The Frozen North, which will be completely free to all players on PC and Xbox One, adds a whole new landmass and makes the world of Conan Exiles 70% bigger. It also brings the game out of the desert and into the snowy north, introducing an entirely new climate and a weather system that will require players to dress according to the temperature – or face certain death. The Frozen North also introduces entirely new gameplay mechanics such as fish traps, beekeeping, and cooking. Brewing, a new crafting system, will allow players to make alcohol which will also keep them warm in cold environments. Players will also get to dedicate themselves to a new religion, giving them the ability to summon the avatar of Ymir, the Lord of Storm and War, and wreak havoc on enemy players and crush their cities under his feet.

Since launching into PC Early Access on January 31 st 2017, the development team has been working tirelessly to introduce new content, improve mechanics, and eradicate bugs and exploits. The team has added siege weapons, a new dungeon, a dye system, new armor and weapons, new decorations, avatar defenses, new building pieces, and much more. The game will leave Early Access and release in full on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in Q1 2018. Conan Exiles quickly became a smash hit with the open-world survival audience, selling almost half a million units in the first month. Funcom and Koch Media have announced a global co-publishing partnership for the open-world survival game Conan Exiles, which is currently in Early Access on Xbox One and Steam. The full version of the game will launch both physically and digitally for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2018.

In this online survival game players get to build anything from small homes to entire cities, explore a huge open world, team up with other players, or seek to dominate their enemies through brutal player vs. player combat. The game is set in the world of Conan the Barbarian, and players get to explore vast landscapes and either fight each other or cooperate to build a community of their own.
“We are thrilled to be working with Koch Media again in bringing the world’s greatest barbarian back into store shelves,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais in a press release. “Their experience as a world-leading publisher combined with their extensive retail network will help bring Conan Exiles to an even wider audience. The fact that they know and understand Conan is also a huge benefit that will ensure all aspects of publishing the game will be executed in the true spirit of the Conan the Barbarian brand.”

Conan Exiles, the open-world survival game set in the lands of Conan the Barbarian, will leave Early Access and launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC both physically and digitally on May 8, 2018. It will cost $49.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and $39.99 on PC.
The Day One Edition of the game will include a printed map of the Exiled Lands and the “Conan’s Atlantean Sword” in-game item. Digital purchases of the Xbox One and PC versions, which are available now in Early Access and Game Preview, will include the “Conan’s Royal Armor” in-game item. The same item is also available for digital pre-orders of the PlayStation 4 version.
A Collector’s Edition will also be available at select retailers and include the following:
Figurine: 15 cm / 6 inch Conan the Barbarian polyresin figurine, modeled after Conan from the Conan Exiles cinematic trailer
Custom Comic Book: Full-color print comic book created in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics specifically for this game. The comic book tells the story of Conan on one of his adventures in the Exiled Lands.
Soundtracks: Three soundtracks featuring the music from Conan Exiles as well as the music from Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures and Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer.
