Halo Wars 2 is an exciting new strategy game filled with fast-paced action, massive battles, and an all-new Halo story, launching simultaneously on Xbox One and Windows 10 in fall 2016. Microsoft debuted a new trailer for Halo Wars 2 during The Game Awards 2016. It introduces “Atriox,” a Brute enslaved by the Covenant who eventually rose up against his masters and became a legend.
Here is an outline of the character, via Microsoft:
His name is Atriox, a Brute enslaved by the Covenant who eventually rose up against his masters and became a legend. His rebellion inspired the birth of The Banished, a savage army of mercenaries and killers now on the brink of acquiring the most powerful weapons platform the galaxy has ever seen. The only things between Atriox and his prize are Captain James Cutter and the crew of the USNC Spirit of Fire. Outgunned and long past any hope for reinforcements, Cutter’s survival depends on how quickly he can master the first law of the battlefield: Know your enemy.
Microsoft also announced that early access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will begin rolling out on December 20 for anyone who pre-orders the digital version of the Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition.
Halo Wars 2 is due out for Xbox One and PC on February 21.

As we continue the countdown to the launch of Halo Wars 2, Xbox and 343 Industries look to awaken your inner strategist and test your wits in these two new live-action trailers.
We find the two faction leaders – Atriox, leader of the Banished and Captain Cutter of the UNSC Spirit of Fire – plucked out of their intergalactic conflict and engaged in a “War of Wits” in what can only be described as relatable struggles.
In each trailer, both Atriox and Cutter use their strategic military minds to fight it out over the ownership of an airplane armrest or haggle over the price of a used car. Only the strategist who best knows his enemy will win.

Halo Wars 2 expansion ‘Awakening the Nightmare’ announced
Microsoft, 343 Industries, and The Creative Assembly have announced Halo Wars 2 expansion “Awakening the NIghtmare.” It will launch this fall for Xbox One and PC.
“Awakening the Nightmare” will add a new campaign, two new multiplayer leaders, two new multiplayer maps, and a brand-new cooperative mode called “Terminus Firefight” featuring the return of the Flood.
