Announcing the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 (DK2)

Since the launch of the Oculus Kickstarter, we’ve been focused on building the best virtual reality platform. The original development kit was a strong starting point that showed the world a glimpse of presence, but its shortcomings prevented it from delivering great VR.

Almost exactly one year after shipping the original dev kit, we’re pleased to announce DK2, the second development kit for the Oculus Rift!

The second development kit features many of the key technical breakthroughs and core elements of the consumer Rift including a low-persistence, high-definition display and precise, low-latency positional head tracking.

DK2 isn’t identical to the consumer Rift, but the fundamental building blocks for great VR are there. All the content developed using DK2 will work with the consumer Rift. And while the overall experience still needs to improve before it’s consumer-ready, we’re getting closer everyday — DK2 is not the Holodeck yet, but it’s a major step in the right direction.

Like the Crystal Cove prototype, DK2 uses a low persistence OLED display to eliminate motion blur and judder, two of the biggest contributors to simulator sickness. Low persistence also makes the scene appear more visually stable, increasing the potential for presence. The high-definition 960×1080 per-eye display reduces the screen-door effect and improves clarity, color, and contrast.

DK2 also integrates precise, low-latency positional head tracking using an external camera that allows you to move with 6-degrees-of-freedom and opens up all sorts of new gameplay opportunities like peering around corners, leaning in to get a closer look at objects in the world, and kicking back on a virtual beach.

Precise positional tracking is another key requirement for comfortable virtual reality; without it, an enormous amount of your real world movement is lost. We’re looking forward to seeing the new experiences the community creates now that positional head tracking is a core element of the platform.

We’ve also included updated orientation tracking, a built-in latency tester, an on-headset USB accessory port, new optics, elimination of the infamous control box, a redesigned SDK and further optimized Unity and Unreal Engine 4 integrations.

All in, DK2 delivers a massive leap forward in terms of the quality of the VR experiences you’re able to create and enjoy. The consumer Rift will be another major step beyond that, but in the meantime DK2 brings the world closer to great consumer virtual reality than ever before.

GDC 2014

We’re debuting the second development kit this week at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco with EVE: Valkyrie by CCP, UE4 Elemental Defense by Epic, and a new demo, UE4 Couch Knight!

Couch Knight was built by the team at Epic Games to showcase the positional tracking and basic avatars in a setting with shared presence. The tech demo juxtaposes a realistic scene with two cartoon knights, controlled by the players, who burst to life and battle throughout the room on couches, shelves and even the players’ avatars.

The players’ head movements and position are actually mapped to the avatars using UE4’s inverse kinematic system, which makes for a taste of a social experience.

What’s Next?

We’re deep into development on the consumer Rift. We have a lot more planned, including improvements to comfort, resolution, tracking, software, ergonomics, optics, industrial design, and the overall experience.

Facebook to acquire Oculus VR for $2 billion

Facebook to Acquire Oculus

Facebook today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Oculus VR, the leader in immersive virtual reality technology, for a total of approximately $2 billion. This includes $400 million in cash and 23.1 million shares of Facebook common stock (valued at $1.6 billion based on the average closing price of the 20 trading days preceding March 21, 2014 of $69.35 per share). The agreement also provides for an additional $300 million earn-out in cash and stock based on the achievement of certain milestones.

Oculus is the leader in immersive virtual reality technology and has already built strong interest among developers, having received more than 75,000 orders for development kits for the company's virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift. While the applications for virtual reality technology beyond gaming are in their nascent stages, several industries are already experimenting with the technology, and Facebook plans to extend Oculus' existing advantage in gaming to new verticals, including communications, media and entertainment, education and other areas. Given these broad potential applications, virtual reality technology is a strong candidate to emerge as the next social and communications platform.

"Mobile is the platform of today, and now we're also getting ready for the platforms of tomorrow," said Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. "Oculus has the chance to create the most social platform ever, and change the way we work, play and communicate."

虚拟现实大受关注 Valve知名员工跳槽Oculus

  本周早些时候,Facebook宣布以20亿美元的价格收购专注于虚拟现实技术的Oculus VR公司,业界人士对此褒贬不一。不过今天,Valve的首席程序设计师Michael Abrash宣布离职加入Oculus VR,似乎为这次收购的评价添加了不少正能量。

  “我非常希望能让我的职业生涯致力于研发最尖端的虚拟现实技术,我也很高兴能与John Garmack(id Software创始人,Michael Abrash曾经在id Software任职)再度一同工作。我们将做的不仅仅是改变游戏,而是彻底变革人类与计算机进行信息交互的方式。”

  Michael Abrash并不是从Valve转向Oculus VR的第一人。今年初,Valve的首席工程师Atman Binstock就加盟了Oculus VR并成为其首席架构师。可以看出业界对于虚拟现实技术的前景还是非常看好的,作为玩家的我们也期待着颠覆式的交互游戏技术早日来到我们面前。

虚拟现实眼镜Oculus Rift目前累计销量85,000份



Oculus Rift两种版本的累计销量达到了85,000份,对于一款开发版来说这已经非常棒了。

TechCrunch报道DK2已经准备了25,000份。

这款硬件的预订是在3月19日开始的,DK2在7月前不会出货。

DK初代共计卖出了60,000份。

ZeniMax accusing Carmack of stealing tech when he left for Oculus
Carmack被指控从id窃取技术带给Oculus后进行反驳

  当然,Oculus刚刚以20亿美元的身价卖给了Facebook,在这种时候提出法律诉求确实让人觉得可疑,不过显然John Carmack曾是两家公司共同的雇员和事件争论的焦点,所以事态究竟会如何发展,我们完全无法判断。

  最新更新:Carmack对此发表推特声明:“我完成的工作从未申请过专利。Zenimax拥有我写的代码,但他们不拥有VR。”

ZeniMax statement

ZeniMax confirms it recently sent formal notice of its legal rights to Oculus concerning its ownership of key technology used by Oculus to develop and market the Oculus Rift. ZeniMax's technology may not be licensed, transferred or sold without ZeniMax Media's approval. ZeniMax's intellectual property rights arise by reason of extensive VR research and development works done over a number of years by John Carmack while a ZeniMax employee, and others. ZeniMax provided necessary VR technology and other valuable assistance to Palmer Luckey and other Oculus employees in 2012 and 2013 to make the Oculus Rift a viable VR product, superior to other VR market offerings.

The proprietary technology and know-how Mr. Carmack developed when he was a ZeniMax employee, and used by Oculus, are owned by ZeniMax. Well before the Facebook transaction was announced, Mr. Luckey acknowledged in writing ZeniMax's legal ownership of this intellectual property. It was further agreed that Mr. Luckey would not disclose this technology to third persons without approval. Oculus has used and exploited ZeniMax's technology and intellectual property without authorization, compensation or credit to ZeniMax. ZeniMax and Oculus previously attempted to reach an agreement whereby ZeniMax would be compensated for its intellectual property through equity ownership in Oculus but were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution. ZeniMax believes it is necessary to address these matters now and will take the necessary action to protect its interests.

Oculus further defends itself against ZeniMax's theft accusation



Oculus VR new statement

We are disappointed but not surprised by ZeniMax’s actions and we will prove that all of its claims are false. In the meantime, we would like to clarify a few key points:

• There is not a line of ZeniMax code or any of its technology in any Oculus products.

• John Carmack did not take any intellectual property from ZeniMax.

• ZeniMax has misstated the purposes and language of the ZeniMax non-disclosure agreement that Palmer Luckey signed.

• A key reason that John permanently left ZeniMax in August of 2013 was that ZeniMax prevented John from working on VR, and stopped investing in VR games across the company.

• ZeniMax canceled VR support for Doom 3 BFG when Oculus refused ZeniMax’s demands for a non-dilutable equity stake in Oculus.

• ZeniMax did not pursue claims against Oculus for IP or technology, ZeniMax has never contributed any IP or technology to Oculus, and only after the Facebook deal was announced has ZenimMx now made these claims through its lawyers.

• Despite the fact that the full source code for the Oculus SDK is available online (developer.oculusvr.com), ZeniMax has never identified any ‘stolen’ code or technology.

343前艺术总监加入Oculus VR 打造第一方游戏团队

  根据Oculus推特发布的消息,343 Industries的前艺术总监Kenneth Scott将作为艺术总监来领导Oculus VR的内部自主开发团队。

  Scott在2008年帮助组建了343 Industries的艺术部门。他在今年的1月份离开了工作室,接受了一份远程视觉设计咨询的职位。

  Scott是继上个月Valve的开发者Aaron Nicholls和Michael Abrash加入Oculus VR后又一名加入公司的骨干人员。Nicholls将会同前Valve的虚拟现实计划的首席工程师Atman Binstock一同合作。

ZeniMax formally sues Oculus after a few weeks of accusations
ZeniMax和id以非法获取商业机密罪起诉Oculus VR




ZeniMax Media and id Software File Suit against Oculus VR and Its Founder, Palmer Luckey

ZeniMax Media and its subsidiary, id Software, filed suit today against Oculus VR and its founder, Palmer Luckey, for illegally misappropriating ZeniMax trade secrets relating to virtual reality technology, and infringing ZeniMax copyrights and trademarks. ZeniMax is also asserting claims for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and unfair competition against the defendants. The suit was filed in federal court in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

The suit arises from the defendants’ unlawful exploitation of intellectual property, including trade secrets, copyrighted computer code, and technical know-how relating to virtual reality technology that was developed by ZeniMax after years of research and investment. ZeniMax provided this valuable intellectual property to defendants under a binding Non-Disclosure Agreement that specifies such intellectual property is owned exclusively by ZeniMax and cannot be used, disclosed, or transferred to third parties without ZeniMax’s approval. ZeniMax’s intellectual property has provided the fundamental technology driving the Oculus Rift since its inception. Nevertheless, the defendants refused all requests from ZeniMax for reasonable compensation and continue to use ZeniMax’s intellectual property without authorization.

All efforts by ZeniMax to resolve this matter amicably have been unsuccessful. Oculus has recently issued a public statement remarkably claiming that “ZeniMax has never contributed IP or technology to Oculus.” Meanwhile, Luckey has held himself out to the public as the visionary developer of virtual reality technology, when in fact the key technology Luckey used to establish Oculus was developed by ZeniMax.

“Intellectual property forms the foundation of our business,” said Robert Altman, Chairman & CEO of ZeniMax. “We cannot ignore the unlawful exploitation of intellectual property that we develop and own, nor will we allow misappropriation and infringement to go unaddressed.”

"ZeniMax and id Software take their intellectual property rights seriously," said P. Anthony Sammi, a Partner of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP which represents ZeniMax and id in this matter. "We now look to the federal courts and will pursue all appropriate measures available under the law to rectify defendants’ egregious conduct," he added.

Oculus Agrees to Acquire Carbon Design Team

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve agreed to acquire the Carbon Design team, one of the premier industrial design and product engineering teams in the country, with over 50 awards to their name. As part of the deal, the team will officially become a key component of the product engineering group at Oculus, operating from the Carbon studio in the Seattle area. They’ll also be working closely with the Oculus R&D team based out of Redmond. We expect the deal to close by the end of summer.

  Oculus日前公布了虚拟现实头戴设备Oculus Rift的升级版原型品Crescent Bay(新月湾),新款VR设备配备了更高分辨率的显示屏,内置音频,并且加入了360度跟踪技术。

  FOVE 除了具备 3D 立体显示、头部追踪等一般虚拟现实头戴显示器的标准功能之外,还首度导入眼动追踪功能,能追踪用户双眼视线注视的位置,藉以提供更具临场感与互动感的体验。

  透过 FOVE 的眼动追踪功能,用户在进行虚拟现实体验时,可以直接以视线来瞄准敌人,或是与虚拟角色进行目光接触,还可以针对人眼视觉特性,从中心视野向外逐次递减周边视野的绘图精细度、降低整体处理负担,以及配合用户视点的移动来提供自然的肉眼对焦景深效果。

  FOVE 所具备的眼动追踪功能将能应用在各种不同领域,除了传统的游戏与娱乐之外,还可以透过彼此的视线交会来满足虚拟社交用途,让身体瘫痪者运用视线与外界交流,以及教育用途。

VR 虚拟现实装置 HTC Re Vive 开发者版本开箱与介绍影片

  HTC Re Vive 是 HTC 与 Valve SteamVR 合作推出的 VR 虚拟现实装置,开发可以在今年夏天收到开发版本,而正式的消费者版本预计将会在今年底开卖。

  HTC Re Vive 与其他虚拟现实装置不同在于,不只是单单头部的动作,也可以在空间中移动,如果快超过移动范围系统会出现提示,依靠两个像是盒子的 Lighthouse 可以更正确的判断头部的转动,大大的改善了判断准确度以及延迟造成的双眼不适应或是晕眩。 (依照国外媒体说是目前已知道 VR 第一个做到的)。

  Lighthouse 这两个黑盒子除了能追踪 VR 设备之外,htc 与 Valve 也在之前说过,它能让想运用的硬件商或是软件商去免费授权这技术,运用在电视、智能手机等等装置上。

  目前已知的规格: 双眼 2400x1080、90Hz、陀螺仪传感与加速装置、精准度误差 0.1 度、雷射追踪、4.5m x 4.5m 可移动范围。

  而前几天 Valve 已经将第一批开发者版本送到独立制作、3A大厂、各电影公司手中,让他们先行开发产品。 来看看其中两个收到商品的开箱影片。

【E3 2015】VR虚拟现实专用游戏《Robinson》发表最新演示版「Island 2」介绍


  随本周美国 E3 2015 电玩展正式开幕,之前曾经以《Crysis 末日之战》系列而备受好评的德国游戏开发商 Crytek 也在现场正式发表一款 VR 虚拟现实专用游戏《Robinson:The Journey》与玩家们见面,并展出本作最新演示版「Back to Dinosaur Island 2」让玩家们确认欣赏。

  据 Crytek VR 相关企划总负责人创意总监「Frank Vitz」表示,本作为一款使用 CryEngine 游戏引擎制作,并对应 VR 专用显示器的作品,本作为一款收录丰富探索、动作与益智要素的动作冒险游戏,游戏故事背景描述身为主角的少年「 Robin」,由于宇宙飞船在宇宙航行时因某些原因而迫降在某个未知星球,当他醒来之后,周围已经不见任何人影,只余下残破的宇宙飞船残骸而已。 为了求生,少年必须在这个没有任何文明踪影,只有巨大恐龙昂首阔步的未知星球展开冒险... 究竟宇宙飞船遭难的原因为何? 其他船员们又跑到哪里去? 而少年的命运又会是如何? 种种的疑问,有待玩家们届时来亲身体验确认!

  附带一提,这款《Robinson》早在之前 Game Developers Conference 2015(游戏开发者大会 2015)终究曾经发表,并于当时展出 Crytek 的 VR 技术展示「Back to Dinosaur Island」(Island 1);而在这次的 E3 2015 电玩展中,则是特地展出对应 AMD VR 制作支持中间件「 LiquidVR」的最新版本「Back to Dinosaur Island 2」(Island 2);相较于之前「Island 1」让玩家们可以近距离观察草食恐龙们的生态,在「Island 2」中,则将会收录玩家们攀崖途中遭到翼龙袭击的故事要素,玩家们将在翼龙的威胁下攀上崖顶进行探索,并在崖顶发现巨大宇宙飞船残骸,而这一切的缘由,则有待玩家们之后自行前来解开真相! 附带一提,官方之前曾利用 CryEngine 游戏引擎打造过对应 Windows PC 与 Oculus VR 的《Rift》,同时也对应 PS4 主机与「Project Morpheus」VR 显示器,今后也将会预定对应 Valve 游戏主机「Steam Machine」与「SteamVR」等产品。

  在这次香港动漫电玩节 PlayStation 摊位上,香港索尼计算机娱乐(SCEH)与 Spike Chunsoft 合作首度公开了以人气言弹动作游戏《枪弹辩驳 希望学园与绝望高中生》为题材所制作的 Project Morpheus 虚拟现实(VR)体验《枪弹辩驳 希望学园与绝望高中生 VR》供媒体抢先试玩,会后制作人寺泽善德并接受媒体访问,分享此一 VR 体验的制作理念。

  在这款 VR 体验中,撷取了超高中级格斗家大神樱惨遭杀害后的学级审判辩论的部份内容加以虚拟现实化而成。 戴上 Project Morpheus 头戴 VR 显示器后,玩家彷佛真正进入学级审判的法庭,所以的场景与角色都改以全 3D 来呈现,而不是原本的 2.5D,动作演出上更生动灵活。

  进入体验后,一开始首先是由校长黑白熊解说游戏的玩法。 虽然是第一次公开,不过内容已经完全中文化,即使不懂日文也可以透过中文字幕来了解其中的意思。 游戏的视点完全自由化,不再像先前 PSP / PS Vita 版那样是由系统来控制,玩家可以直接转动头部来注视自己关注的角色或是言论。 操作部分则是透过 DS4 控制器的动态感测与光学定位来控制光标进行瞄准,按下 R2 钮就可以发射言弹攻击。

  体验中所有的对象都改以 3D 呈现,包括角色、场景乃至于言词辩论时的文字,因此在辩论时的紧张感更为强烈,参与辩论的角色甚至会跳入场中踩扁或砸碎其他人的言论,不单单只是展示了 VR 的可能性,也透露出后续新作(3 代? )所可能采用的呈现手法。

  因为只是展示 VR 可能性的体验,因此内容相当短,学级审判的部分很快就告一段。 紧接着登场的是《枪弹辩驳》世界观中不可或缺的「处刑」体验。 在这段体验中,玩家所扮演的主角被绑在台车的椅子上,身处于一间四面都是水泥墙的房间,突然黑白熊驾驶怪手破墙而入直逼主角,一阵轰然作响后整间房间被拆得一乾二净,巨大的机械黑白熊从远方逐渐逼近,场景开始移动与变形,进入一个充满机械与齿轮、宛如工厂的场所,前方则是持续运转的重压粉碎机,无法逃脱的主角只能眼睁睁看着台车一步步朝向死亡机关前进 ,在粉碎机落下后眼前一片黑暗,体验到此结束。

  因为改采 3D VR 来呈现,因此整段处刑体验的 “体感” 相较于先前的 PSP / PS Vita 游戏来说有天壤之别。 虽然整个过程中完全没有玩家可以介入操作的部分,不过仍可以自由转头四处观望。 当怪手、巨大黑白熊乃至于重压粉碎机逼近时,都可以深刻感受到彷佛陷入游戏世界中、面对巨大危机威胁的感觉。 制作人寺泽善德在后续访问时表示,这段体验主要想传达的是恐怖的感觉,不过他也笑着说因为黑白熊形象太滑稽,所以多少减轻了整体的恐惧感。











Sony announces new Project Morpheus Technical Demo, “Cyber Danganronpa VR: Class Trial”

Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong (SCE Hong Kong) announced at Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2015 (Running from 7/24 to 7/28) a new technology demo for Project Morpheus titled “Cyber Danganronpa VR: Class Trial” (Cyber Danganronpa).

Currently in development by Spike Chunsoft, Cyber Danganronpa recreates the class trial portion of the Danganronpa 1 & 2 games where your object is to expose the killer amongst the students, allowing you to experience it in the world of VR as if the characters were actually there.

2015PlayStation中国发布会 吉田修平群访内容

  SCE全球工作室总裁吉田修平的到来,让本次2015 PlayStation中国发布会提升了规格,也让中国媒体和玩家可以近距离的观看Project Morpheus并在CJ上试玩。在本次发布会之后,媒体们也对吉田修平进行了群访,下面将采访内容带来。

  记者:Project Morpheus在中国展示,对于我们的消费者而言什么时候拿到机器,在中国有没有开发的计划和具体上市的时间?

  吉田:关于Project Morpheus中国开发方面的信息。有很多中国游戏开发商已经在PlayStation平台上开发各种游戏,为Morpheus开发游戏和为PlayStation开发游戏是一样的申请方式,对于有兴趣在Morpheus上开发游戏的开发商我们是非常开放的心态,会提供必要的技术支持给到他们。关于产品上市计划,我们之前公布过,将于2016年的上半年在全球发布这个产品,但是具体的上市的地区和上市的具体的时间我们现在还没有公开。

  记者:开发这种虚拟现实游戏可以把现在的游戏改造一下做一个VR版还是必须重新开发,这种VR的虚拟现实的游戏开发成本会比一款同样的游戏普通的游戏高出多少?

  吉田:首先关于Project Morpheus的游戏开发上面,游戏开发者拥有PlayStation开发经验的团队能够比较容易上手Project Morpheus的开发,特别是具有3D游戏开发经验。但是它有一些技术的基本要求,考虑到虚拟现实人物融入的这个环境里面,所以要达到60fps的帧率,这样呈现出来的120fps才可以达到一个非常流畅的虚拟现实体验。

  关于游戏开发方面的话,我们鼓励游戏开发商尝试各种各样的类型的游戏开发。当然,有一些类型是比较适合虚拟现实的游戏,Morpheus不像电视游戏一样是看着电视屏幕进行游戏,而是人本身就进入到这个游戏之中去,所以比如说像赛车类的游戏,因为人是在一个赛道上一直往前跑的方式,所以会更容易的实现虚拟现实的这种体验。同时我们也发现一些现在的一些游戏,通过Morpheus可以产生一种类似于上帝视角这样的观赏方式,可以从更高的角度看到整个游戏的画面,这也是一种有趣的应用和开发的经验。

  从开发成本角度来看,现在很多3A游戏的开发需要大量的人力物力,包括画面设计都是非常高的水准。Morpheus由于人是沉浸在游戏当中的,对于环境、画面等要求不一定像其他的3A游戏那么高。在将来,虚拟现实游戏开发的成本可能还会更低于一般的PlayStation游戏。

  记者:想问一下在您预期到明年Morpheus上市的时候,大概会有多少款游戏,大概是一个什么样的量级?

  吉田:我们现在还没有具体的信息,有什么样的游戏或是多少款的游戏介绍给大家,我们现在甚至还没有决定我们具体哪天上市这款产品。

  在准备美国E3游戏展的时候,由于我是全球负责第一方游戏工作室负责人,我比较了解第一方的游戏进度。在展示中,有一个Morpheus的对战游戏Rigs,还有伦敦工作室开发的游戏,以及日本工作室开发的一个游戏。我们也非常欢迎第三方的独立工作室和开发商开发游戏,例如有一款足球类型的游戏,这款游戏里面有一个球门,玩家看到有足球扔出来,然后要用头将球顶入球门,这是比较短的时间里面开发出来的很有意思的游戏。现在我们还不太清楚首发会有哪些游戏上市,但是我们会鼓励小型的开发商,包括中国和亚洲的游戏开发商能够积极的参与到我们这个平台,为我们的平台开发游戏。

  另外还有很多的游戏开发商在Oculus Rift虚拟设备上通过一些开发引擎也在开发一些游戏,其实从这个平台上有PC游戏开发经验的公司很容易就可以把游戏转换到Project Morpheus的平台上,我们可以看到最短两天的时间就可以直接转化到Project Morpheus的上面,当然还有需要精细优化方面的工作,很多虚拟游戏都可以非常容易的转换到Project Morpheus平台,因为PlayStation平台跟PC平台是共通的架构。

  记者:虚拟设计的设备是独立的产品线还是跟我们的游戏主机有一个版本的更迭?

  吉田:有人觉得Project Morpheus会不会只是PS4的一个外设,从我们的角度来讲,Project Morpheus是一个全新的虚拟现实的系统,这个系统使用了PS4作为它的一个部分,可以说Project Morpheus是包括PS4这样的一个完整的系统,我们也有完整的开发体系,保证基础的操作系统,包括开发工具等等方面的配备。通过PS4可以实现Project Morpheus虚拟世界120FPS的流程表现。关于未来方面的计划,Project Morpheus是这个产品的第一代,在未来这个技术发展每天都在不断的更新,我们在努力的工作争取尽快把Project Morpheus带给大家。同时我们的研发团队也在进行多种多样的测试和开发,充分发掘未来Project Morpheus在其他方面的潜力。

  记者:因为现在Morpheus这个设备在中国很受关注,但一个是入门门槛比较高,售价还有中国玩家习惯方面门槛比较高,还有一个大家不太清楚Morpheus本身在游戏储备方面会做一个什么样的准备?所以我想问一下这两个方面的问题。

  吉田:首先我们还没有发布Project Morpheus墨菲斯的价格。当然,如果用户想完整的体验Project Morpheus就必须有PS4、PS Camera,而且还要有头戴部分的Project Morpheus设备。另一个角度来看,用户对产品价值的判断与产品体验有直接的关系。Project Morpheus提供给用户一个全新的体验。从游戏进化的角度来看,过去20多年来,游戏领域发生很多变化,例如3D、网络等等新的游戏技术活方式。

  但是,从整体来看,基本上玩家都是通过电视或是屏幕进行游戏,玩家和游戏是分开的两个场景。Project Morpheus第一次使玩家真正融入到游戏当中,让他进入游戏的世界里面,这种带来的刺激和这种非常令人振奋的体验是以前任何的游戏产品没有办法提供给大家的。所以从这个角度来看的话,对于用户来说,他会认为我们的产品其实是值得有这样的前所未有的体验。从Project Morpheus第一期的目标用户群体来看的话,我们会针对已经拥有PS4的用户,因为他们有了PS4这个最基础的设备,只需要购买头戴设备的部分就可以了。

  另外一个问题是关于未来将有哪些游戏可能在Project Morpheus上出现。我们在GDC上展示的游戏,大多数Demo的内容是适合所有的人群游玩的游戏。各种不同用户都可以轻松的享受这些内容。在今年E3,除了面向大众的游戏之外,也出现了面向核心游戏玩家的游戏类型,比如说《RIGS》它是三对三机器人对战的游戏,有些象是e-sports。玩家在对战过程中,要收集能量球,并在收集到一定程度后进入指定地点才可以得分,有些类似篮球游戏。通过网络的支持,这款游戏可以让玩家们进行对战,我相信有很多人可能会在这个游戏上花很长的时间来玩。当然,我们还在准备很多其他的游戏,我们没有对外公布,我们会在不久的将来跟大家介绍新的信息。

  记者:因为中国大陆玩家对Morpheus比较生疏,索尼会给大陆玩家设一些体验店来让玩家来体验一下这个游戏吗?

  吉田:您提到的这点非常重要,其实就像虚拟现实的这种全新的技术和体验,如果不真正自己去试一下,不自己体验的话不知道它到底是一个什么样的东西什么感觉。所以体验对于好的虚拟现实的这种技术和产品是非常非常重要的。我们其实也利用各种各样的游戏的展会或是技术的展会来展示我们的产品,让更多的人体验。在SCE全球各地的公司都在想办法在未来创造更多的接触点,让用户能够更多的接触到Morpheus,除了像游戏展会这样的场合之外,游戏展会的话人非常多也非常拥挤,可能不是非常舒适的一个体验的机会,我们也在考虑创造其他的方式。

  记者:请问Morpheus有没有专门为VR游戏专门的设备,另外,现在这些公布的游戏里面,没有大家非常熟悉的Demo,以后会不会有这种非常有名的IP作为Morpheus的VR游戏来作为这样的一个平台。

  吉田:我们Project Morpheus有三种输入方式。第一种就是头戴设备本来就有输入的功能,它可以记录头的运动轨迹,比如仅仅靠这个头戴设备也可以进行很好的输入和操作。例如一款足球游戏Head Master,玩家可以看到球被扔出来,需要自己控制头部顶球进门。另外一款游戏Summer Lesson,是完全通过头部的控制就可以来进行互动的,这个游戏里面的女生会向你问问题或其他互动,你可以通过点头或是摇头表达出确认或是不同意的方式。或者你关注她或是不关注她都可以影响到你跟游戏当中人物的感知和互动,这也是非常有意思的体验。

  第二种输入方式就是DS4手柄,它前面有一个光条,在PS4上市之初有的用户会说为什么PS4手柄要设计这样的光条而且还可以变色。其实PS4与Project Morpheus几乎是同一时间开始研发的,我们在开发初期就考虑到DS4、PSMove、Project Morpheus、PlayStation camera等设备间的互动。只是那时候Morpheus并没有公布,因此我们没有太多解释光条的作用。通过DS4其实也可以体现类似PS Move的功能。此外,在Project Morpheus的虚拟世界中也可以模拟出真实世界的手柄,实现与真实世界一样的操控体验。

  第三个控制的方法就是PS Move,如果有两个PS move,就可以让双手进入虚拟世界。例如拿枪换子弹等操作都可以非常自然的实现。

  除了这三种输入和操控方法以外,我们也支持新的操控方式,比如说我们在E3上演示了一个游戏是《London Heist》,它使用的外设设备Sharp shooter是类似于枪一样的设备,这款游戏是一款FPS第一人称视角的射击游戏。在游戏中,玩家拿着这款外设就像拿着宇宙太空枪的样子,指到那个方向就可以向那里自由射击,这些新体验也是第三方开发商提出的非常有创意的想法。此外,也有可能通过吉他或者其他设备进行虚拟现实世界的操控,我们非常希望能够有不同的开发商开发出不同的游戏方式。

  记者:《The PlayRoom》这个游戏要求一个玩家佩戴Morpheus,其余玩家使用手柄的不均等对抗类型。但今后会不会推出所有玩家都带着Project Morpheus,并进行在线联机对战的游戏。

  吉田:这个问题涉及到Project Morpheus是怎么样使玩家能够联结在一起共同的游玩,其实通过网络服务,Project Morpheus完全支持玩家间互通互联的游戏,比如我们在E3展示的《RIGS》游戏是支持6个人玩,只要每个人都有一台PS4和一台Project Morpheus,我们可以设计各种各样的游戏来支持多人同时游戏或是多人对战的方式。在Morpheus最早的演示内容中包括一款叫做《The Castle》的内容,这个游戏中可以使用两个PS Move进行操控,玩家挥舞PS Move在虚拟世界中就会挥舞一把大剑进行战斗,这个游戏最初的设计就是一款双人游戏。

  记者:目前我们看到的Demo都是为Project Morpheus量身定做的,有没有可能今后在一些传统的大作中抽出一个章节里面加上对Project Morpheus的支持,让玩家在传统手柄的基础上多一个操作方式可以选择呢?

  吉田:关于这个问题,我们是可以支持现有的一些游戏重新转换到虚拟现实的平台上,去年E3的时候我们展出了一款游戏《Thief》,它就是一部分把原来的平台上转换到Project Morpheus平台上的体验,整个游戏的感受和体验通过Project Morpheus平台以后跟原来的游戏完全不一样。Project Morpheus平台支持游戏开发商通过这种方式展示游戏效果,同时也不需要非常高的成本去做这样的开发。

  记者:在香港我们玩到了一个《弹丸论破》的Morpheus Demo,这款游戏基于一个文字游戏改编的Demo,我想问一下对于这样的游戏今后在Morpheus上产生什么样的可能性?

  吉田:在香港您体验到的这款游戏,从我个人体验来讲的话,变成了这个游戏里面的角色,体验他的视角是非常有意思的。我觉得最惊喜的是看到这个黑白熊非常真实的在我眼前,甚至比《Summer Lesson》里面的少女还要真实,这个非常有意思。对于游戏开发商来说,他们希望玩家能融入他们创造的游戏世界里,因为他们花费了大量的时间来开发游戏。之前我谈到的《RIGS》的游戏也是这样的。

  记者:之前制作人寺泽善德的时候他也说到这个Demo是他看过《Summer Lesson》做的,我们目前看到日本厂商看到的墨菲斯的游戏并不多,除了这些Demo游戏之外,还有没有其他的日本厂商正在制作Morphesu的Demo呢,如果有的话有多少款正在开发的Morpheus Demo?

  吉田:日本的游戏开发商也在积极的开发Morpheus游戏,在E3展出的一款游戏《Kitchen》就是Capcom开发的一款恐怖游戏,还有像《初音未来》等,很多日本厂商也考虑各种各样的想法开发出Morpheus的游戏作品,今后这个数量也会越来越多。

【TGS 15】《夏日课程》释出展出 PV 抢先一窥和两名美少女互动样貌

【TGS 15】《白猫 Project》研发商公开 VR 新作《飞向可爱小熊 Fly to KUMA》

  《白猫 Project》等知名游戏开发商日本 COLOPL 今日在东京电玩展中,公开支持虚拟现实头戴式显示器 Oculus Rift 计算机游戏新作《飞向可爱小熊(暂译,Fly to KUMA)》。

  COLOPL 表示,《飞向可爱小熊》是款解谜游戏,玩家要在地图上导引可爱的熊到达目的地,藉由 Oculus Rift 装置,玩家可以藉由蓝色方块来诱导可爱小熊,可以藉由视线来执行操作,同时也可以藉由控制器进行前后与转弯等细小动作的移动,让玩家可以帮助小熊跨越机关,到达目的地,但如果失败的话,小熊可能会发生悲剧, 而届时玩家也可以观察小熊所产生的反应。

【TGS 15】PlayStation VR《The PlayRoom VR》合家欢乐的虚拟现实互动玩法

  日本亚洲索尼计算机娱乐(SCEJA)在这次东京电玩展展前媒体发表会上,正式公布开发代号「Project Morpheus(梦神计划)」的 PS4 虚拟现实装置将定名为「PlayStation VR」,并第二度在东京电玩展中公开试玩展示。 巴哈姆特 GNN 在台湾索尼计算机娱乐(SCET)的安排下,体验了数款初次在亚洲公开的展示,将透过一系列报导让玩家一窥究竟。

《The PlayRoom VR》

  先前曾在 E3 展展出的《The PlayRoom VR》,是 SCE WWS 日本工作室的 Nicolas Doucet 领军制作的 VR 游戏合辑。 Doucet 先前曾任职于 EA、Eidos、SCE WWS 伦敦工作室,制作过 PS2 EyeToy 与 PS3 PlayStation Eye 的视讯体感与扩增实境游戏,在 PS4 上则是制作过免费下载的扩增实境(AR)互动游戏《The PlayRoom》。 这次的《The PlayRoom VR》就是以《The PlayRoom》的世界观与角色所制作的 VR 游戏。

  《The PlayRoom VR》先前在 E3 展曾展出过《怪兽大逃亡(Monster Escape)》游戏,这次则是追加了《猫捉老鼠(Cat'n Mouse)》游戏。 最大的特色就是「双重画面多人同乐」的玩法,与其他以独乐乐为主的 VR 游戏不同,《The PlayRoom VR》可以藉由 PlayStation VR 配备的特殊处理单元,让头戴显示器与电视屏幕分别显示不同的画面,藉以达成非对称多人同乐的玩法。

  在刚进入游戏时,玩家是身处于一间热闹的游戏房,身边围绕着一群可爱的小机器人,当玩家的目光扫到他们时,他们会兴奋地与玩家打招呼。 稍远处有一堆玩具造景,许多小机器人会穿梭在玩具世界游玩。 玩具房还会有日夜变化,白天与晚上的感觉截然不同,充满着玩乐的气氛。 玩家可以在此选择想要游玩的项目。 制作人 Nicolas Doucet 在后续的访问中透露,目前展示中看到的这个玩具房,在最后的正式版游戏中会加入互动要素,内容也会增加,因此并不是一成不变的模样。

  在《怪兽大逃亡》中,配戴 PlayStation VR 头戴显示器的玩家将扮演巨大的怪兽,使用 DS4 控制器的玩家(最少 1 人,最多 4 人)将扮演逃命的小机器人。 一开始的场面是怪兽在街道上一边大肆破坏一边追逐小机器人。 头戴显示器的怪兽玩家是第一人称视点,操作的方法很简单,就是摇头晃脑用头去撞倒建筑物。 电视屏幕的小机器人玩家则是第三人称视点,要拼命逃亡与闪躲。

  当抵达终点的海边平台时,逃亡的小机器人突然变身成为特摄战队的战士,并将怪兽困在电磁栅栏中。 支持部队会搭乘直升机将物资空运到平台上,小机器人战士可以拾起这些东西砸向怪兽,目标是将怪兽砸到头晕眼花,再以强力的大炮将怪兽轰出地球。 怪兽玩家此时只能移动头部来闪躲不断飞来的对象(不时还有强力的火箭炮),等待平台崩坏。 如果被打晕,就只能等着被大炮轰到外层空间,还得看卫星转播小机器人战士耀武扬威的模样。

  在《猫捉老鼠》中,配戴 PlayStation VR 头戴显示器的玩家将扮演家猫,使用 DS4 控制器的玩家(最少 1 人,最多 4 人)将扮演老鼠。 因为是猫,所以家猫玩家的视点非常接近地面,跟一般习惯的人类视点有很大不同。 一开始家猫是藏身厨房一旁的储藏室帘幕之后,老鼠则是在厨房中打算偷吃奶酪,不过被家猫发现了,所以只好到处逃窜,躲藏到罐头、花椰菜、纸盒等东西里,等家猫回到帘幕后面再偷偷把奶酪吃掉。 简而言之就是「123 木头人」的规则。

  家猫玩家的操作方式跟《怪兽大逃亡》一样简单,就只有伸头探出帘幕跟缩头回到帘幕而已。 老鼠则是在电视屏幕上以传统的第三人称动作玩法操作。 当家猫从帘幕后方探头出来的时候,只要盯到没有躲藏起来的老鼠,就可以把老鼠抓起来。 躲在帘幕后一样可以看到老鼠的剪影。

  虽然家猫可以一直保持探头的姿势让老鼠动弹不得, 但是探头太久的话会有家犬跑进厨房来捣乱,在被捣乱的这段时间内,家猫将无法动弹,只能任由老鼠肆虐。

  不论是家猫或是老鼠的玩法都非常简单,但就如同小时候的记忆一般,当一群亲朋好友一起玩的时候,即使简单的规则与玩法,一样可以有丰富的乐趣。

  Nicolas Doucet 在接受 GNN 编辑访问时表示,《The PlayRoom VR》是《The PlayRoom》团队担纲开发的最新作品,当初《The PlayRoom》是以发挥 PlayStation Camera 扩增实境玩法与社群互动性为主轴,而这次的《The PlayRoom VR》则是延续了社群互动性的基本概念, 融合虚拟现实技术来提供丰富的互动乐趣。

  对于独特的头戴显示器与电视屏幕双画面玩法,Nicolas Doucet 表示,这部分要归功于 SCE 技术开发团队的支持才得以实现,当 PS4 主机同时处理好两个画面之后,透过独特的格式传输到 PlayStation VR 的处理单元(介于 PS4 主机与 PlayStation VR 头戴显示器之间的一个盒子,负责处理 PlayStation VR 的输出入), 分离成两个画面分别显示。 因为 VR 体验对画面处理的要求高,所以会优先满足 VR 头戴显示器的画面处理需求,再来考虑电视屏幕的。 目前两边都能以 720p 的分辨率流畅运作。

  Nicolas Doucet 进一步确认《The PlayRoom VR》将会以套装游戏软件的形式推出,除了目前展出的这两个游戏之外,目前还有 3 个游戏正在开发,预计上市时应该会收录 6~7 个游戏。 其中除了这两个游戏的对抗玩法之外,其实也有携手合作解谜的玩法。 虽然没有单人专属的游戏,不过有些游戏最后可能可以单人游玩。 当然制作团队是希望尽可能大家一起玩,会比较有趣。

  最后谈到对虚拟现实的展望时,Nicolas Doucet 强调,VR 想要获得成功,就一定要够 “好”,一个糟糕的 VR 体验可能会让经历过的玩家从此对 VR 留下不好的印象而拒绝接受。 如果 VR 最后能获得成功的话,能带来的变革将不亚于当年初代 PlayStation 带动的 3D 多边形革命,像是赛车游戏能转个方向看到不同角度的景物,这是 2D 点阵绘图世代所无法想象的。 他认为 VR 具备同等的潜力,让玩家可以从制作者所设定的束缚中解放,由自己来决定自己想要看到什么。

《纪念碑谷》团队 VR 新作《Land’s End》首次释出游戏影片

  曾制作知名手机游戏《纪念碑谷(Monument Valley)》的游戏团队 ustwo,目前正在制作一款仅可透过 Samsung Gear VR 运行的虚拟现实游戏《Land’s End》,并于近日释出宣传影片。

  本作的风格有一点类似《纪念碑谷》的味道,玩家必须在各个遗迹与神秘的地图中探索,以唤醒失落的古文明为目标。

  目前游戏尚未释出太多详细数据,仅强调必须拥有 Samsung Gear VR 才可体验游戏,目前也没有在其他平台发行的打算。

操作各种异能虐敌! Epic Games释出第一人称射击VR展示作品

  今年日本东京电玩展上出现了不少 Playstation VR 的展示,除了扮演教师与美少女学生近距离互动的《夏日课程》之外,还有《三国无双》和《Final Fantasy 14》等作品的 VR 应用,展现了家用主机虚拟现实(VR)技术的威力,但 PC 玩家也不必太过失落,因为 Epic Games 也在近期释出了一段 Unreal Engine 4 虚拟现实的测试片段,也是带来了相当酷炫的表现。

With all eyes turning to virtual reality, 505 Games and developer, Three One Zero, announced today that ADR1FT, their first person experience space exploration game, will launch alongside Oculus’ virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift, in Q1 of 2016.

Hand-selected by Oculus as a premier launch title, ADR1FT will now be released day and date with the wildly popular virtual reality headset.

“Virtual reality is the next phase of innovation in gaming,” said Ian Howe, President of 505 Games. “As a publisher, we’re always looking for the best platforms and technology to showcase our games and working with Oculus will allow gamers to experience ADR1FT in an enhanced way that only can be done through the immersion of virtual reality.”

Oculus announces “Oculus Ready,” certified PCs for VR

In order to use PC VR you’re going to need a PC to power it, and Oculus is looking to make that much easier by joining with a number of key hardware partners to bring “Oculus Ready” PCs to the market.

Starting at price points under $1000, NVIDIA, ASUS, Alienware, Dell, AMD, and Intel will all be releasing hardware in the next year that will feature an Oculus Ready sticker, indicating that the hardware is ready for VR.

“Our goal with the recommended specs is that everything just works,” said Nat Mitchell Oculus’ head of product.

This represents a big step towards bringing VR to consumers. The fact remains that the recommended specs, which include a GTX 970, will require a number of consumers to upgrade their PCs. By labeling and pre-designing kits that are made to work with VR out of the box they fully optimize the experience for consumers looking to transition into the new medium.

Mitchell mentioned on stage that the company would be announcing more partnerships over the course of the next year.

It is interesting to note that earlier this year Brendan Iribe said the whole experience would cost, “about $1500,” a price which almost assuredly included the PC. Extrapolating from that a bit it seems likely that we will see a price point for the Rift that is somewhat similar to what we saw with the development kits. Oculus has yet to make any official announcements on the price, so this remains speculative.

Robinson: The Journey Announced for PlayStation VR from Crytek

Hey everyone, Elijah from Crytek, here. I’m lucky enough to be working as Executive Producer on Robinson: The Journey, and wanted to share a little more info on the project with you.

In Robinson, you assume the role of a young boy who has crash-landed on a mysterious planet, and must become a pioneer of sorts as you explore your surroundings, interact with the world around you, and discover amazing secrets at every turn. I can’t go into too many specifics right now, but that’s the (very) high level overview!

As a studio, we’re really excited to be creating Robinson for PlayStation VR, and believe it’s the perfect platform for what we’re striving to achieve with the game. But what exactly are we striving to achieve? Good question.

Probably the best place to start is with a couple of VR demos we’ve shown at industry events this year. Back to Dinosaur Island 1 and 2 offered different types of VR experiences, but both acted as inspiration for Robinson. The first of those demos placed players in a more static role as a giant dinosaur stared them down at close quarters, and the follow-up featured greater interactivity as users scaled a cliff and took in their expansive surroundings.

Probably the most inspirational aspect of these demos for us was the reaction they received! A lot of players and press highlighted them as being among the best VR experiences they’d had, which felt like validation of the track we were on.

That track was — and still is — to create the most realistic, immersive worlds possible using our CryEngine technology. Crytek is in a relatively rare position as a developer of both games and a game engine. We’ve found that to be a major asset as we work on Robinson, because our efforts to be at the forefront of gaming tech over the years have led us to develop CryEngine features that are proving to be really powerful for creating VR games.

A lot of the reaction we received to the Back to Dinosaur Island demos was about how authentic the environments felt — the foliage, the lighting, the dinos, etc. People really seemed to respond positively to the level of visual fidelity, and we do believe that this can set a VR experience out from the crowd and take the feeling of being present to a whole new level.

So, to return to my own question, what are we striving to achieve with Robinson: The Journey? You could say it’s about recreating that level of authenticity on a much, much grander scale. That means not just making something visually stunning, but also telling a story that is emotionally engaging and which resonates with players beyond the game world.

It’s a bold ambition, we know. But just as PlayStation VR will invite players to enjoy gaming in an entirely new way, I think it should also inspire us as developers to create ambitious experiences worthy of this amazing new technology.

  NEXON 宣布,在 12 日登场的韩国电玩展 Gstar 户外摊位中,将以「RePlay,枫之谷」为主题,来展出《枫之谷》新进化,也就是虚拟现实版本《枫之谷 VR》。

MapleStory VR – Nexon announces virtual reality game for MapleStory

Nexon today announced it will have an outdoor booth known as “RePlay, MapleStory” at G-Star 2015, showcasing the next evolution of MapleStory – virtual reality. Titled MapleStory VR, it will apparently be compatible with Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. There is no confirmation if Nexon is going to officially launch MapleStory VR, but lucky G-Star 2015 attendees will be able to try the game out.

Distance Brings Survival Racing to PlayStation VR

Hi there! I’m Jordan, one of the developers at Refract. Last year I announced that our survival racer Distance is coming to PS4. Since then we’ve been working hard to add things like random track generation, new story mode content, improved car customization, improved multiplayer features, and we spent some time optimizing so that Distance runs as smoothly as possible.

Today, I can finally announce that we’ve also been working hard to bring Distance to PlayStation VR! This weekend we’ll be showcasing a playable version for the first time at PlayStation Experience in San Francisco!

If you’ve never seen Distance before, it’s a survival racing game. Distance takes the intense action of arcade racing and places it in a mysterious, atmospheric world. The road is deadly with treacherous obstacles around every corner. Instead of doing laps on a loop, you’ll be trying to survive from point A to B.

You pilot a unique car that allows you to boost, jump, rotate, and even fly. Instead of being constrained to the track, you can break away at any point and find your own path. You can even drive upside down or on buildings and walls.

Virtual reality amplifies this by adding another dimension. You can now race through these chaotic tracks from the seat of the driver. PlayStation VR gives you an amazing sense of scale as you’re able to look into turns or glance over at other players in multiplayer. Once we started prototyping VR gameplay in Distance it was undeniable that getting a true feel for the jumps, flips, and flying is exhilarating.

From a story-telling aspect, VR is thrilling since we can explore the game from the perspective of the driver, and who (or what) that is. We’ve redesigned our UI to work with a cockpit dash, and we added an “upside-down” moonroof to help when landing. Getting sliced by a laser is also (not surprisingly) even more exciting.

Classroom Aquatic Brings Cheating and Dolphins to PlayStation VR

Hey there, my name is Remy Karns, and I want to tell you about Classroom Aquatic, a new game that my team and I here at Sunken Places are developing for Playstation VR. If you haven’t heard of Classroom Aquatic, then this blog post should be the perfect way to dive into our game, and long time fans can keep up with all of the exciting new things we’re adding.

In Classroom Aquatic, you’re a foreign exchange diver student spending a semester abroad in a school for dolphins. There, you’ll be given a series of tests that you’re in no way prepared for. The only way to pass is to cheat — avoid being caught by the teachers, don’t let your fellow students tattle on you, and cheat your way to the top of the class!

The good news is, we all know how to cheat: just look over at your neighbors’ tests and copy their answers. Don’t worry — dolphins are very smart — they always know the right answers. But they also know when you’re trying to cheat, and the more obvious you are, the harder they’ll try to hide their answers. And if you get them too angry, they’ll tattle to the teacher!

Teachers, of course, don’t take kindly to cheating. Each teacher has a unique way of proctoring the class. For example, Professor Porpoise, the history and dolphinities teacher, patrols the class to prevent anyone peeking at any other pupil’s papers, while Doctor Delphinidae, the Science and Mathematics teacher, surveys the class from her desk, and the Career Counsellor directs his student aids to administer each question one at a time.

As you progress through the campaign, the teachers employ more and more drastic means to catch the cheaters. They’ll start with desk dividers and rearranging the classroom. Get past those and they’ll resort to more desperate, and creative measures — Professor Porpoise will enact rigid, arcane rules from his university days. Doctor Delphinidae invents elaborate contraptions to make cheating harder, and the Career Counsellor will appeal to the other students to turn you in. You’ll even have to compete with a dolphin student who wants to out-cheat you!

Classroom Aquatic has been designed to be a true VR game: rather than a port of a single screen game or a translation of an existing genre, its mechanics, goals, and gameplay have all been tailored to be played on VR head-mounted displays. We think Playstation VR will be the ideal platform for us, as it’s a VR device specifically made for games.

That’s all for now! I’ll try to read all your comments and answer all your questions (and if I can’t answer any I’ll just have to cheat). It’s always great to get feedback, and now’s the time, while we’re still in development. Until then, remember to never ascend faster than your smallest bubble when diving: it’s polite to let bubbles go ahead of you!

  虚拟现实技术研发公司 Oculus VR 今日宣布,旗下研发虚拟现实头戴显示器「Oculus Rift」预定于太平洋时间 1 月 6 日上午 8 时(台湾时间 1 月 7 日零时)正式开放预购。

  Oculus VR 表示,届时将于 Oculus.com 开放「Oculus Rift」的预购,当预购服务正式上线时将会公开所有玩家想要预购产品所需知道的事情。

  Oculus VR 指出,每组「Oculus Rift」将会附上《Lucky’s Tale》、《EVE:女武神》两款游戏,让玩家拿到后可以马上体验虚拟现实的乐趣。

  目前 Oculus VR 并没有公开「Oculus Rift」预购价格。 「Oculus Rift」预定今年第一季问世。

在美国CES开展前夕,HTC释放了VR装置Vive的最新消息!目前Vive推出了第二代的开发者版本(表示这不会是市售版本,最终上市时不会是现在的模样)

HTV Vive Pre新增了许多的功能,硬件上也有所改良,首先增加了Mura Correction这项技术,让Vive的画面更加的清晰、明亮!

硬件上则增加了前镜头,在游玩Vive时,若是口渴了,或是想要看一下现实环境的变化,玩家不必拿下Vive,使用前镜头便能看到现实画面,让虚拟现实与现实画面轻松融合!

Pre版听了一开始的Vive开发者的回馈后,在手把上有了改良的设计!在手把上完全翻新,更加的符合人体工学。 有着圆滑边缘、绝佳平衡以及全新质感的按钮,除此之外还有之前的版本中所没有的两段式扳机按键,而震动的设计更是让游戏有回馈的感受。

手把为USB充电孔,电池是锂电池。 充电完后一次可使用四小时。

Pre版在外形上设计的更加的平衡,同时为了不同脸型的用户做了调整。 全新的束带设计,提供了更稳定、平衡且舒适的感受。 Pre版还能更换内部的海绵,并且加入了鼻垫,让Vive更能贴近鼻型,同时Vive也让戴眼镜的用户能够戴着眼镜轻松使用。

HTC也表示今年2月开始开放预购,4月正式发售,售价则尚未公布。

HTC同时也很有自信的表示使用Vive不会头晕,VR装置会头晕是因为高延迟率及低更新率造成的,Vive会提供每秒最低90FPS,不会造成头晕的现象。

而此次公开的Vive Pre仅是开发者二代版本,外型会与上市版有落差。

  虚拟现实技术研发公司 Oculus VR 今日凌晨正式在旗下官网开放虚拟现实头戴显示器「Oculus Rift」预购,售价 599 美元(约新台币 20070 元,此价格不含运费与税),首批预购预定 3 月 28 日起开始出货,将可出货到包含台湾、日本、美国、英国、波兰、荷兰等 20 个国家。

  此次预购「Oculus Rift」内容包括耳机与麦克风、传感器、Xbox One 控制器与 Oculus 遥控器。

  至于之前公开、造型独特的控制器「Oculus Touch」目前预定于 2016 年下半年推出。

  另外,Oculus VR 也公布了支持「Oculus Rift」的建议计算机硬件规格,包括显示适配器 NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 同等级或以上、中央处理器 Intel i5-4590 同等级或以上、8GB 以上内存,支持 HDMI 1.3 版本输出,与 Windows 7 SP1 64 位版本或更新的操作系统等。

  Oculus VR 表示,计划今年将会有超过 20 款游戏支持「Oculus Rift」,包括《RockBand VR(摇滚乐团 VR)》、《Edge of Nowhere》与《The Climb》等。

Palmer Luckey: "We don’t make money on the Rift"; Explains "$350 ballpark" quote

I handled the messaging poorly. Earlier last year, we started officially messaging that the Rift+Recommended spec PC would cost roughly $1500. That was around the time we committed to the path of prioritizing quality over cost, trying to make the best VR headset possible with current technology. Many outlets picked the story up as “Rift will cost $1500!”, which was honestly a good thing - the vast majority of consumers (and even gamers!) don’t have a PC anywhere close to the rec. spec, and many people were confused enough to think the Rift was a standalone device. For that vast majority of people, $1500 is the all-in cost of owning Rift. The biggest portion of their cost is the PC, not the Rift itself.

For gamers that already have high end GPUs, the equation is obviously different. In a September interview, during the Oculus Connect developer conference, I made the infamous “roughly in that $350 ballpark, but it will cost more than that” quote. As an explanation, not an excuse: during that time, many outlets were repeating the “Rift is $1500!” line, and I was frustrated by how many people thought that was the price of the headset itself. My answer was ill-prepared, and mentally, I was contrasting $349 with $1500, not our internal estimate that hovered close to $599 - that is why I said it was in roughly the same ballpark. Later on, I tried to get across that the Rift would cost more than many expected, in the past two weeks particularly. There are a lot of reasons we did not do a better job of prepping people who already have high end GPUs, legal, financial, competitive, and otherwise, but to be perfectly honest, our biggest failing was assuming we had been clear enough about setting expectations. Another problem is that people looked at the much less advanced technology in DK2 for $350 and assumed the consumer Rift would cost a similar amount, an assumption that myself (and Oculus) did not do a good job of fixing. I apologize.

To be perfectly clear, we don’t make money on the Rift. The Xbox controller costs us almost nothing to bundle, and people can easily resell it for profit. A lot of people wish we would sell a bundle without “useless extras” like high-end audio, a carrying case, the bundled games, etc, but those just don’t significantly impact the cost. The core technology in the Rift is the main driver - two built-for-VR OLED displays with very high refresh rate and pixel density, a very precise tracking system, mechanical adjustment systems that must be lightweight, durable, and precise, and cutting-edge optics that are more complex to manufacture than many high end DSLR lenses. It is expensive, but for the $599 you spend, you get a lot more than spending $599 on pretty much any other consumer electronics devices - phones that cost $599 cost a fraction of that to make, same with mid-range TVs that cost $599. There are a lot of mainstream devices in that price-range, so as you have said, our failing was in communication, not just price.

Sony 执行长平井一夫透露 PlayStation VR 目前已有上百款游戏正在开发中

HTC Vive pre-orders to start on February 29



HTC will start taking pre-orders for Vive, its virtual reality headset, from February 29, its chief executive has confirmed.

Cher Wang told the Telegraph the company had chosen to refocus on virtual reality (VR) and away from smartphones, saying the company was now "more realistic".

“Yes, smartphones are important, but to create a natural extension to other connected devices like wearables and virtual reality is more important," she said.

Vive has been developed with game maker Valve, designed to fully immerse its wearer in their virtual environment while playing games. It will go on wider commercial sale in April, and will compete with Facebook-owned Oculus Rift and Sony's PlayStation VR as the technology finally enters the mainstream. Its price remains unknown.

“I think the problem was competition – Apple, Xiaomi, these companies spend tons of money on communications and marketing, they pump a huge amount of investment into the market. There are a lot of Chinese competitors.”

HTC showcased the second generation developer kit, Vive Pre, at CES in Las Vegas, a signifcant aesthetic departure from the first version which was launched with much fanfare at last year's Mobile World Congress.

The headset has been redesigned to rest more comfortably on the wearer's face, with a smaller cage and more stable head strap. HTC said the new design can be more easily adjusted to users' heads, and can still be worn comfortably by those who wear glasses.

It also contains an integrated front-facing camera, enabling you to see your physical surroundings while wearing the headset. This means you could sit down, eat and continue interacting with others without needing to remove it.

  Neat Corporation 研发、支持虚拟现实头戴式装置 HTC Vive 的游戏《Budget Cuts》曝光宣传影片,游戏结合了虚拟现实、传送与匿踪元素,未来将在 Steam 平台上市。

NASA is making a Mars Exploration experience for VR using Unreal Engine 4



The Division – Launch is Just the Beginning

NASA is already planning the first manned space landing on Mars in the 2030s. But thanks to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4, anyone who owns a virtual reality headset will be able to explore the Red Planet in 2016.

NASA has teamed up with Fusion Media, MIT’s Space Systems Laboratory, and game developers from former studio Irrational Games to develop The Mars 2030 Experience for Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, and Samsung Gear VR in 2016. The free cross-platform virtual reality experience will also expand to Sony PlayStation VR and HTC Vive, thanks to Unreal Engine 4.

Julian Reyes, virtual reality producer for Fusion, said Unreal Engine 4 has enabled the development team to start building this experience with the highest regard to visual fidelity.

Although more details will be announced during a panel at South by Southwest 2016, the virtual reality experience will bring to life a series of mini-missions that occur within the Mars habitat as well as on the planet’s surface. Players will be able to walk on the Red Planet as well as drive the Mars Rover.

GameStop CEO says they will launch PlayStation VR this fall

  近日,知名电玩零售商Gamestop的CEO Paul Raines在接受媒体采访时不小心提到了PS VR的发售日。

  Paul Raines在接受采访时被问到对于今后VR市场增长的看法,他提到,“虽然现在市场的容量还很难估计,但根据一些机构的说法,VR的份额在2025年将达到八千万美元,所以我们已经严阵以待,今年秋天我们就将发售索尼的Playstation VR。”

Sony 申请电脑控制家具的相关专利 为VR所准备?

  近日,SCEE于去年8月3日在美国申请的专利被公开,这一发明专利名为“电脑家居及应用方法”,主要为我们展示了使用电脑包括游戏机、PC或其他电子设备控制家具椅子、沙发、床等等的方法。

  从这个专利的示意图中我们就可以看出,这个专利主要的目的就是令使用者在使用电脑或是进行游戏时更加身临其境的感受到其中的内容。对于游戏来说,在示意图的沙发中可以放入不同的震动或是压力感应元件,同时针对不同的游戏内容可以调整其中原件的位置,令处在不同位置的人获得不同的感受。该沙发上的部分位置还可以进行配件的个人更换和调整,令使用者能够根据自己的需求创造独特的使用体验。

  此外,这一专利还可以用在其他方面,比如医院。医生或患者可以通过电脑来进行病床或手术台的调整,以便于使用。

Introducing Dragon Front: The First CCG for VR Coming to Rift

We’re very excited to announce Dragon Front, the first collectible card game (CCG) built for VR. Developed by High Voltage and produced by Oculus Studios, Dragon Front combines traditional high fantasy with a dieselpunk aesthetic for a one-of-a-kind experience.

扩增实境装置 Meta 2 开发者版本开放预购 售价约新台币 3 万元

  继 HTC 虚拟现实(VR)头戴式装置 HTC Vive 与微软混合实境(Mixed Reality)装置「HoloLens」开发者版本开放预购后,另一个研发扩增实境(AR)头戴式装置的厂商 Meta 今日也宣布,旗下新一代产品 Meta2 开发者版本套件开启预购,售价为 949 美元(约新台币 3 万 1 千 5 百元),开发者版本预定第三季会开始寄送给订购者。

  运用 AR 头戴式装置可以让玩家在真实的视野中迭加上虚拟图像与对象,此种装置与 VR 头戴式装置戴上去后,沉浸在整个虚拟世界中的呈现方式不同。 Meta 2 采用半透明 AR 镜片、具备 90 度的视角,而投影分辨率为 2560 x 1440。

PS VR建议使用年龄为12岁以上 原因大讨论

  虽然现在PS VR的发售日还没有正式公开,但我们可以从PS4 3.5系统中的一则健康警告得知,PS VR的建议使用年龄为12岁以上。据称,另一款VR设备Oculus Rift的推荐年龄为13岁以上。

  海外玩家对这一警告进行了激烈的讨论,目前看来比较合理的解释是由Reddit用户kumoishibo提出的,他认为,头戴式显示设备不适合给孩子使用的主要原因是由于瞳距。瞳距是人眼两个瞳孔之间的距离,在使用头戴式设备时,人的瞳孔需要在同样的位置停留。成人的瞳距平均值是63毫米,根据性别、人种、年龄等不同,瞳距的差异值在48到73毫米这个范围之间。自身的瞳距与平均值相差越大,所观察到的形变也就越大。而少年的瞳距一般在40到55毫米之间,因此,他们佩戴头戴式设备可能会造成身体的不适。因此,一般不建议儿童使用没有经过专业校准的头戴式设备。此外,如果各位在使用头戴式设备时出现任何不适,也建议立即停止使用。

  对于这则警告的其他解读还包括,VR游戏可能会给儿童带来心理上的不适;VR可能会令儿童受到身体上的伤害;VR游戏包含过激内容等等,不一而足。

  此外,我们还可以在警告中看到,官方希望用户在使用PS VR时,能够移除周围的障碍物,确保没有儿童、宠物等等。

  VR这种沉浸式体验为我们带来了无与伦比的新鲜感,但是在使用时同样需要注意很多之前不曾注意到的问题。比如VR的恐怖游戏,如果没有很强的心理承受能力,还是谨慎尝试为妙,以免留下心理阴影。

Valve 预告将揭露 SteamVR 桌面剧院模式 在虚拟现实环境游玩一般游戏

  2016 年游戏开发者大会(Game Developers Conference,简称 GDC)美国时间 3 月 14 日即将在旧金山登场,知名游戏厂商 Valve 今日预告将在 GDC 中揭露结合虚拟现实(VR)头戴装置游玩一般游戏的全新模式「SteamVR 桌面剧院模式(暂译,SteamVR Desktop Theater Mode)」。

  Valve 透露,「SteamVR 桌面剧院模式」目前仍在早期测试阶段,将会于旧金山举办的 GDC 公开,此项模式将让玩家透过 VR 装置如即将推出的 HTC Vive 与其他装置等来游玩非 VR 游戏。

  据了解,「SteamVR 桌面剧院模式」会让玩家身处在 3D 虚拟世界环境,游玩原本那些非为了 VR 体验所制作的一般游戏,例如玩家置身在虚拟的家庭剧院环境、观看眼前虚拟屏幕,然后游玩平常在 Steam 平台上的一般游戏。

《末日之战》厂商 Crytek 免费释出VR 体验游戏《回到恐龙岛 2》

  《末日之战》系列知名厂商 Crytek 近来积极投入虚拟现实游戏开发,在 2016 游戏开发者大会(GDC)登场前夕,Crytek 释出旗下研发虚拟现实(VR)展示游戏《回到恐龙岛》系列新作《回到恐龙岛 2(Back to Dinosaur Island 2)》,支持虚拟现实头戴式装置 Oculus Rift DK2 版本。

  Crytek 美国时间 3 月 14 日在 GDC 中将以「为 VR 打造 3D UI」为题来分享其 VR 开发经验,在此前夕 Crytek 透过 Steam 平台推出了 VR 游戏《回到恐龙岛 2》,希望听取更多体验者的意见。

  AMD 表示,Sulon Q 以随戴随玩、不受拘束的设计为特色,内建 Windows 10 硬件、4 核心 AMD FX-8800P 处理器与 Radeon R7 显示适配器,内建 256GB SSD 硬盘、8GB 内存、2560 x 1440 分辨率屏幕,支持 110 度可视范围。

  AMD 强调,Sulon Q 前置两个镜头可以生成四周环境的 3D 地图,而头戴式装置也可以追踪用户走动等位置,同时承诺将可以进行手势辨识等。

VR 與 AR 的 40 項未來大預測 VR MMO 將讓月費制再成主流?

  全球最大专业游戏研发会议 2016 游戏开发者大会(2016 GDC) 今日在美国旧金山登场,虚拟现实(VR)与扩增实境(AR)成为现场最热门话题,每场虚拟现实开发会议(VRDC)都大排长龙,而首场由 Google 研发《Tilt brush》制作人 Patrick Hackett 主持的「从 HTC Vive 研发过程所学到设计经验」座谈会中,投入虚拟现实研发的多位开发者分享其经验,包括不要执着于追求真实、三分钟内要让玩家感受与沉浸在虚拟世界等开发技巧。

  根据 GDC 数据显示,有 16% 的游戏研发者在今年已经投入 VR 相关作品的研发,相较于去年仅约 7% 成长许多,而今日在旧金山登场的 2016 GDC 活动中,不仅首度独立开辟虚拟现实开发会议(VRDC)分类,同时因为今日 VRDC 每场人数都过多,还特别开辟另一间会议室让挤不进该场 VRDC 的参与者可以透过现场直播一起听讲,可见 VR 在此次会议中的热门程度。

  今日首场「从 HTC Vive 研发过程所学到设计经验」座谈会由 Patrick Hackett 主持,集结与 HTC Vive 开发相关 WEVR 的 Scott Stephan、Owlchemy Labs 的 Alex Schwarz 与 The Void 的 Curtis Hickman 与独立开发者 Tyler Hurd 对话,向现场游戏专业人士分享开发经验。

  会议一开始,Curtis Hickman 与 Tyler Hurd 等就谈到 HTC Vive 具备空间定位(Roomscale)技术可以为玩家带来完整的 VR 体验,让玩家在房间内走动与对象互动、沉浸在 VR 世界中,可以说是真正让玩家进入虚拟的世界当中。

  现场谈到由于游戏开发者要运用 VR 装置把玩家从现实世界带入虚拟世界中,必须注意用户的体验,这其中包括许多技巧与感情层面,研发者得善加运用玩家与游戏中对象的互动、结合移动与互动性的关联等方式,例如玩家在游戏体验时看到物品,想要抓取或把东西丢出去却没有办法做到,就可能会造成其失落感等、甚至像小孩一样会生气。

  会中也提到,VR 游戏 UI 的设计如何简单又易懂一大重点,由于平常 VR 游戏不同于一般游戏、屏幕上没有很大的空间摆放 UI,因此要如何简单并且自然地让玩家学会操控成为很大的挑战。 Alex Schwarz 说,在游戏中控制器通常就代表玩家的手,设计游戏时不能让玩家有一直意识到这是我的手的感觉,而是要能很自然地让玩家的手与控制相结合,很自然地抓取与执行互动。

  现场提及 VR 游戏设计是企图打造真实的世界,研发者设计时要很注意玩家初期进入游戏的感受,避免可能因为画面抖动、画面更新率过低造成玩家晕眩或是操作不协调等问题,这样会让玩家很快就放弃游玩。

  Patrick Hackett 表示,VR 游戏设计要在 3 分钟之内让玩家感受到沉浸在虚拟现实的感觉,研发者在思索想要拼命呈现栩栩如生内容的同时,其实怎样操作、互动与 UI 等设计都很重要。

  另外,虽然许多游戏开发者的目标希望藉由 VR 技术打造给玩家几乎接近真实的世界,但现场开发者认为,研发者必须思考游戏本质内容,与其可能投入的相关成本与带来的效果呈现,还有此举是否会造成不必要的资源浪费等,没有必要一昧地执着去追求真实。

  会议也提到,未来如何强化 VR 游戏的在线互动是个重要课题,要思考如何避免玩家未来沉浸在单独游玩 VR 游戏时的孤独感,开发者将可努力藉由网络让 VR 玩家有机会共同游玩与交流等。

Ubisoft's making multiplayer VR game Werewolves Within
Ubisoft 发表多人在线虚拟现实游戏《狼人入侵》


  Ubisoft 于美国旧金山游戏开发者大会(GDC)举行期间宣布了一款多人同乐型的虚拟现实(VR)游戏《狼人入侵(暂译,原名:Werewolves Within)》。

  本作的游戏规则与知名团康游戏「狼人游戏」相同,一局游戏会将 5 至 8 名玩家配对,玩家必须要猜出同伴中谁是「披着人皮的野兽」。 除了被指定为狼人的玩家之外,其他玩家也会被分配到不同角色,需运用各自的特殊能力来企图指认出狼人。

  由于本作可利用虚拟现实装置来辨认玩家的动作,甚至还能透过「声音辨识分析」技术以动画表情反映出玩家现在的状态,这些细微的部份都可以当作猜测狼人的线索,呈现出其他在线「狼人」游戏所无法表现的真实感。

  Ubisoft 至今已发表三个虚拟现实企划,继首波曝光的《Eagle Flight》(PlayStation VR),以及稍早揭露的《刺客教条》电影版虚拟现实体验后,《狼人入侵 Werewolves Within》也确定将在秋季问世。

  从影片中可以看到,《狼人入侵 Werewolves Within》展示版使用的装置为 Oculus Rift,但影片尾声显示了「将对应所有主流 VR 平台」的字样,因此或许也会发售 HTC Vive 或 PlayStation VR 版。

Ubisoft Brings Game Night to Virtual Reality With Werewolves Within

Today, Ubisoft revealed Werewolves Within, a game of social deduction that brings the fun of game night with friends to virtual reality. As one of the first multiplayer VR games created, Werewolves Within captures the essence and competitive spirit of playing live around a table with friends, and channels that into a social VR experience. Werewolves Within will be available on major VR platforms in autumn 2016.

Developed by Red Storm Entertainment, a Ubisoft Studio, in collaboration with Ubisoft Barcelona, Werewolves Within transports players to the medieval village of Gallowston, where they must uncover the werewolves that have been terrorising the townsfolk. Designed as an online multiplayer experience for five to eight people, players assume randomly assigned roles at the beginning of each game, some of which grant special abilities that will help players deduce who is a werewolf in disguise. To keep the experience dynamic, games are quick, with roles changing each time. One round you could be a villager, pleading your case for innocence, and the next round you could be a werewolf, lying your way to victory.

With the game’s matchmaking features, players can create Private Matches with friends or be grouped in a Quick Match with friends and other gamers looking to play. Using Red Storm’s positional tracking technology and animations based on voice inflection analysis, players’ real-life actions and body language will be reflected through their VR character in-game.

“VR is proving to be an amazing platform for social interaction, moving toward truly feeling like you are there with other people,” said David Votypka, Sr. Creative Director at Red Storm Entertainment. “Werewolves Within gives players a taste of how VR can generate strong social connections, allowing you to get together to have a great time with others no matter how near or far they are.”

Werewolves Within marks the latest venture into virtual reality for Ubisoft, who recently announced the game Eagle Flight and a VR partnership with the film company, SpectreVision.

  索尼计算机娱乐(SCE)于美国时间 3 月 15 日下午在「游戏开发者大会(GDC)」举办的发表会中宣布,PS4 虚拟现实装置「PlayStation VR(PS VR)」将于今年 10 月在日本、北美、欧洲与亚洲地区推出,建议售价 44980 日圆 / 399 美元 / 399 欧元与 349 英镑,亚洲价格尚待公布。



  PS VR 是 SCE 针对 PS4 主机研发的虚拟现实装置,原定 2016 年上半年推出,如今则是确定将延期至 2016 年下半年的 10 月推出,北美地区的建议售价为 399 美元,与 PS4 主机上市的价格相同,折合马币约 1799 元左右,不过目前尚未公布亚洲地区价格。 产品包装内将包含 VR 头戴装置、讯号处理器与耳机,但并不包含 PlayStation Camera 与 PlayStation Move 动态控制器。

Hello there. London Studio is extremely excited to finally announce our new game, PlayStation VR Worlds. We are pleased to have this opportunity to tell you a bit more about it.

PS VR Worlds is a collection of five different VR experiences that have all been built from the ground up exclusively for the PS VR headset. When we started out to make this game we wanted to create the very best collection of varied experiences, each to showcase VR in different ways and show how incredible VR can be as a media.

In PlayStation VR Worlds you will be treated to incredible visuals as your dive beneath the waves, tackle 360 combat as you fight off alien hordes from all around you, or end up in a face-to-face interrogation with a deranged and furious mobster. All brought to you with the immersion that makes VR so unique. You may have seen snapshots of some of these experiences before as demos, others are being revealed for the very first time.

So what are these five experiences that make up the game?

The London Heist puts you straight into a gritty gangland thriller where you get to unleash your inner gangster. The London Heist is best controlled by dual PS Move controllers but you can also play with a DualShock 4 instead with intuitive controls that make it surprisingly easy to pick up and play. You will feel highly immersed as you undertake an audacious robbery and then try to make your escape.

Into The Deep (working title) puts you to work as a deep sea salvor. It’s an emotional underwater roller coaster. Not only do you get to see fantastic marine life all around you but as you descend through the ocean layers to the inky depths you will experience the true terror of something going horribly wrong.

VR Luge lets you step into the jumpsuit of an illegal street racer. Thunder down a beautiful Californian hillside, only inches off the ground in a position that only VR can put you in. You will truly feel the exhilaration as you dodge cars coming at you with horns blaring or when you slide underneath a massive 18-wheel truck.

Danger Ball is a futuristic sport where you must win or die. Use your head to strike and spin the ball in this intense, fast paced, game. Each rival has unique abilities to use against you as you make your way through the tournament to become champion.

Finally we have Scavenger’s Odyssey. In this cab based sci-fi adventure you play an alien treasure hunter. With your agile craft you can leap huge distances, climb walls, hurl debris with your Scavenger beam, and pummel alien critters with your twin pulse cannons. With your unique vehicle you will be able to make your way through a dangerous, infested environment of giant ravaged ships, smashing asteroids to reach an ancient and legendary artifact.

  索尼计算机娱乐(SCE)15 日正式发表 PS4 专用虚拟现实装置「PlayStation VR(PS VR)」将于今年 10 月推出,价格 399 美元。 官方同时揭露 PS VR 除了虚拟现实专属内容的体验之外,还支持「剧院模式(Cinematic Mode)」,可以将 PS VR 当成一般的头戴显示器,用来游玩非 VR 的一般 PS4 游戏,以及观看游戏直播、BD 影片、相片以及全景相机拍摄的全景影片等内容。

  在剧院模式下,PS VR 的运作类似 Sony HMZ 系列的传统头戴显示器,提供一个虚拟的 16:9 宽屏幕画面让玩家观看。 玩家可以像在一般电视屏幕上一样,操作 PS4 的系统接口,游玩一般的游戏,或是观看 Blu-ray 激光视盘、播放支持格式的相片 / 影片等。 之外还可以透过 PS VR 的头部连动功能,身历其境般地观看像是 RICOH 的 THETA 等全景摄影机所拍摄的全景相片 / 影片。

  PS VR 剧院模式将提供小 / 中 / 大 3 种虚拟屏幕尺寸的设定:

  当尺寸设定为「小」的时候,虚拟屏幕的位置将固定在玩家眼前,「中」与「大」则是会固定在虚空间中的特定位置,玩家可以转头从不同角度来观看。 途中随时可以让屏幕位置归中,因此就算是仰躺在沙发上,一样可以让虚拟屏幕维持在眼前的位置,不因姿势的差异而影响观看。

  目前 Sony 已经停产 HMZ 系列头戴显示器,不再贩卖相关产品,因此这次 PS VR 提供的剧院模式,可以说是很大程度地替代了 HMZ 系列产品的功能,让 PS VR 不只能体验 VR 专属的内容,还能适用于一般的 PS4 游戏与影音内容,价格上则是只有当初 HMZ 系列产品的一半左右。

  不只是 PS VR,竞争产品的 Oculus Rift 也曾发表过可透过 Windows 10 串流功能以虚拟剧院的模式来游玩 Xbox One 游戏,支持 HTC Vive 的 Valve 日前亦预告将在 GDC 中发表类似的「SteamVR 桌面剧院模式」,都计划将 VR 头戴装置的功能延伸至 VR 以外的娱乐领域。

Hi there, I’m Simon Harris. I’m an Executive Producer at Supermassive Games responsible for our PlayStation VR titles. Today, following our announcement last October of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, I am very happy to reveal another of our VR titles in development, Tumble VR, exclusively for PlayStation VR.

Tumble VR is an accessible, fun, engaging, and immersive puzzle game. When you pull the PlayStation VR headset on it places you in a virtual arena specifically designed to test your physical dexterity and mental skills. Working your way through a gauntlet of tests from simply building a tower to creating bridges, or even working out fiendish puzzles, Tumble VR will push your skills and brainpower to the limit.

Taking the original, much loved PS3 game, the team at Supermassive has rebuilt it from the ground up for PlayStation VR. We’ve designed a load of new levels to make best use of the VR environment and have added some great new modes as well.

Alongside the new levels and visuals for Tumble VR, we have also added new cooperative and competitive modes using the PlayStation VR Social Screen feature that allows a second player not using a PlayStation VR headset to play together with the VR player.

We’re excited to talk about this more in the future as it’s great to see how VR gaming can also be a social experience.

VR 头戴式装置 Oculus Rift 公开 30 款同步上市游戏名单

  Oculus VR 今日在 2016 游戏开发者大会正式揭露,旗下虚拟头戴式装置 Oculus Rift 在 3 月 28 日上市时,将有 30 款游戏同步问世,并公开游戏宣传影片。

  在 30 款同步上市游戏中,包括《赛车计划》、《消失的伊桑‧卡特》、《精英:危机四伏》等作品,而游戏售价从 4.99 美元到最贵的《精英:危机四伏》豪华版 59.99 美元。 另外,还有未来即将上市的超过 11 款游戏名单如《Rockband VR》等。

  特别的是,在 Oculus VR 公开的上市游戏名单中,特别以类似交通号志红、黄、绿颜色来标示虚拟现实的体验程度,绿色代表「舒适」、黄色代表「温和」,红色则代表「激烈」,以供玩家挑选时参考。

《星际大战》虚拟现实游戏一手体验 挥舞光剑对抗帝国风暴兵!

  Valve 与 HTC 今日在 2016 游戏开发者大会开放虚拟现实(VR)头戴式装置 HTC Vive 新作试玩,由 Lucasfilm 旗下专注研发身历其境娱乐的实验室 The ILMxLab team 打造、运用 HTC Vive 让玩家沉浸在《星际大战》世界中新作品《星际大战:塔图因试炼(暂译,《Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine》》 首度以闭门方式让国际媒体与参观者试玩,巴哈姆特 GNN 现场体验在塔图因星球上协助韩索罗修理千年鹰号,并且面对风暴兵来袭、手持光剑回击的游戏内容。

  当游戏一开始时,可以看到如同电影片头般,体验者身处在宇宙中、脚下跑过文字叙述的情境,搭配着由约翰威廉斯打造、所有星战迷都熟悉的《星际大战》主题曲,让人不禁热血了起来;当文字叙述结束,千年鹰号会从头上呼啸而过,接着体验者就会来到巨大的沙漠行星、也是天行者家族的故乡塔图因。 此时抬头仰望、可以看到天上的三个类似月亮卫星,而身旁就是无尽的风沙;接着,千年鹰号从头上降落,过程中会被它巨大的身影所震撼。

  当千年鹰号降落后,机器人 R2-D2 先从千年鹰号下来。 此时可以听到韩索罗的声音(可惜此次体验中从头到尾都没有见到他),原来千年鹰号登陆支架中仅放下三支,还有一支似乎故障了,你必须加以协助。 体验者要运用左手控制器来依照指示按下指定颜色的按钮,结果修到一半,竟然有敌人来袭,情况变得紧急、韩索罗语气也开始急躁,让人不禁紧张了起来。

  赶紧修好千年鹰号后,面对敌人来袭,幸好 R2-D2 带来了光剑。 体验者此时可向 R2-D2 取得光剑,打开后挥舞就可以听见光剑的声音;若是拿着光剑画在沙地上也会烧出痕迹,甚至把光剑靠近 R2-D2 都会泛着蓝光。

  虽然拿到光剑非常兴奋,但眼前风暴兵不断来袭、朝向体验者射击,体验者可以用光剑反击他们的攻击。 前方的木箱桶子,也可以让体验者躲避攻击。 然而,真的被风暴兵攻击打到并不会有所损伤,而且感觉上目前只是体验用光剑回击的效果,并无法实际打到风暴兵,接着就在盟友协助下逼得这些白兵通通撤退,此时还有点时间可以试着跟 R2-D2 互动,若是拿着光剑朝他挥舞、他会往后退,若是摸摸他会有些响应,而就在制作团队的字幕画面中结束了体验。

  索尼计算机娱乐(SCE)执行副总裁兼 PS 产品事业部事业部长与软件设计部门部门长伊藤雅康,日  前在 GDC 接受日本 4Gamer.net 访问,透露许多关于 PS4 专用虚拟现实装置「PlayStation VR(PS VR)」的详情。

  首先是关于延期上市的状况,伊藤雅康表示,PS VR 原本计划 2016 年上半年推出,之所以会决定延至 2016 年 10 月推出,主要是为了确保供货数量。 如果缺货、让想买的人都买不到的话,就没办法有好的效果了,因此决定延到 10 月推出,预定以充足的数量来面对全球同步上市的需求。

  此外,目前发表的 PS VR 包装只是「基本组合」,其中没有包含「PlayStation Camera(PS Camera)」摄影机,但 PS Camera 是 PS VR 运作 “必须” 的配备,没有安装 PS Camera 的话,是无法完成 PS VR 初始设定的。 SCE 目前有在检讨 PS VR 与 PS Camera 同捆的组合。

  PS VR 包装中有包含一组基本的耳塞式耳机,麦克风则是内建在 VR 头戴装置上。 这次 GDC 的摊位上有展出让多名 PS VR 玩家聚集在单一虚空间的社交应用展示《社交 VR 展示(Social VR Demo)》,该展示中就活用了 PS VR 内建麦克风的功能。

  关于 PS VR 游戏的画面更新率部分,伊藤雅康透露,虽然目前 PS VR 支持 90Hz(原生)与 120Hz(60fps 绘制,透过 Temporal Reprojection 倍增成 120Hz),但是在现有的 PS4 上想追求画质的话,要达到 90fps 以上更新率是很困难的,当然如果是比较简单的画面那是有可能。

  如今 SCEA 发表,将自 3 月 22 日起,在北美地区的特定通路提供预购限定数量限定的 PS VR 上市同捆组,以多 100 美元的 499.99 美元价格,提供包含 PS VR 基本组合,以及 PS Camera (建议售价约 60 美元)、PS Move 控制器 2 组(建议售价约 100 美元)与《PlayStation VR WORLDS》 游戏光盘(建议售价未公布)等额外内容的包装,让有需要的玩家可以一次购入。



  目前 SCE 尚未发表 PS VR 上市同捆组在其它地区的销售计划。

Vrvana 推出 VR、AR 兼用装置「Totem」体验介绍

  「Totem」是位于加拿大蒙特娄的公司,Vrvana 正在开发中的 VR、AR 兼用装置,这次在会场上,我们获得了体验试用机的机会,现在就为大家送上体验报导。

  虽然 Totem 在亚洲区并不是很出名,不过是公司创始人 Bertrand Nepveu,从他还在大学就读机械工学时,就已经开始筹划的企画。 虽然原本是打算作为 Xbox 360 周边机器推出,但是因为技术层面无法实现自己的创意,所以曾经一时中止,后来 Oculus VR 的「Rift」如慧星般横空出世,将话题性通通打包带走。

  而 Nepveu 看到这个情况,赶忙在 2014 年 9 月于 Kickstarter 网站上开启了募资专页,但却以失败告终。 只是后来以 Oculus VR 作为先锋的 VR 市场可以说是盛况非凡,所以最后得到新创产业资金投资,终于成功募集到资金。 Nepveu 表示:「是 Oculus VR 让我的企画能成功推上轨道。 」

  因为在官方网站上,曾经以 450 美金的价格接受预定,所以正式发售时,可能也会以比较接近这个数字的价格推出。 而目前有公开的规格则是如下所列:



  而在这次能试玩到的内容是只要看着上面印有 QR 码的书页,就会显示出各式各样不同对象;或者是在摄影机拍下的影像当中加入特效,让眼前看起来就像电影《疯狂麦斯》的世界。 对于首次体验到 AR 装置的笔者来说,真的是让人感觉非常兴奋。 而且在体验过程当中,笔者试着在眼前快速挥手,但影像看起来也没有任何残像,这一点可以说是非常不错。

  另外,也能体验到 VR 技术,「Unreal Engine 4」的「Showdown」内容。
