Fable Legends unites the classic gameplay that players have come to love from the series with all of the next-generation capabilities of Xbox One. For the first time, grab your friends and go on adventures - up to four Heroes can cooperatively discover the quests and stories of Albion. Villain play combines elements of strategic decision making and tactical control. When those pitiful Heroes enter an area, you’ll choose which minions are sent into battle and where to place these creatures to maximize their effectiveness. • Expand Your Controls through SmartGlass - As a Hero, you can use SmartGlass on your tablet or smartphone to track your game progress, get more information on Heroes, quests, and other content. Lionhead确认《神鬼寓言:传说》是唯一的项目



  Lionhead工作室近日公开表示工作室暂时还没有计划要出《神鬼寓言4》而新的《神鬼寓言:传说》也不是续作,也不会成为《神鬼寓言4》。

  在《神鬼寓言:传说》中能看到很多二代和三代的东西,这些东西经过优化之后会在《神鬼寓言:传说》出现,这些设计都是令人难忘的。游戏不是一个强制的多人游戏,游戏任然可以单人游玩,当四个玩家合作时你一方四个人有可能是玩家也有可能是玩家和AI的组队。《神鬼寓言:传说》将会包括一些小游戏其中某些会支持Kinect。

微软:《神鬼寓言:传奇》或将取消强制在线

不久前微软发布了旗下人气RPG《神鬼寓言》系列新作《神鬼寓言:传奇》的CG宣传片。作为次时代引擎CryEnergy 4主打的一款游戏,该作将于14年登陆Xbox One上。 而早前Xbox One的强制在线措施使得微软在并无《神鬼寓言4》的情况下,处境格外尴尬。 在微软取消了强制在线之后,《神鬼寓言》系列的工作室“狮头工作室”松口称该作可能“无需强制玩家在线”。

但当被问及是否玩家需要一个稳定的网络环境运行游戏的时候,狮头工作室的总监大卫·埃凯尔贝里回答“我不知道这个问题准确的答案。我们非常想做出一些突破,包括在游戏服务器上的系统或者是数据。如果采取在线的方式,我们可以随时掌握这些信息并且保证玩家的角色数据安全。”

“如果玩家玩的是单机模式,那么玩家所有的最终成就将最终影响他们的游戏成果,通过刷bug或者修改数据,玩家能自由控制使其最终会是一个恶棍,或是一个英雄。然而玩家采取一些另类的方式取得任务的胜利,这也正是我们所关注的,如果是在联网的环境下,系统会监控这些行为,玩家的这些表演也会记录在Xbox Live的云系统中”。

虽然大卫·埃凯尔贝里提到了单机模式,但是我们再官方的FAQ中并没有找到详细的单机模式资料。仅仅只有一个近似于忽悠的介绍“你能够以一个单机玩家的经验享受整个游戏”。显然,这不是我们想要的。

狮子头表示《神鬼寓言传奇》会有5-10年生命周期

狮子头工作室老板John Needham表示“我们将会放长线。”,可以说这款即将到来的专注网络部分的XboxOne次世代游戏将会有很长的生命周期。

狮子头工作室表示,自家正在开发的专注于网络内容的新神鬼寓言系列《神鬼寓言传奇》将会在XboxOne上有5-10年的生命周期。

“我们做放长线钓大鱼的游戏。”Needham向GamesIndustry表示。

他表示,为了能够达到这一目标,该作品将会把XboxOne的各种特性和服务发挥出来,也包括云服务。

“这款新的大型《神鬼寓言》游戏将会有5-10年的游戏寿命,所以它必须做的很大,也需要做的有趣。”“所以说有很多工作要做。它需要整合各种云特性和XboxOne自己的特性,这样我们才能保证整个社区活跃和进步。它无疑会很庞大,充满野心,毕竟这个游戏要撑很长的时间。”

媒体对Lionhead工作室老大John Needham进行了采访,对他们的Xbox one独占大作《神鬼寓言:传奇》进行了初步介绍。

“这是下一款《神鬼寓言》的正统大作,它的寿命将持续5到10年,所以它必须非常好玩。它必须为玩家提供许多事情去做,必须整合一切Xbox One云功能,保持玩家群体长期活跃并稳定增长。没错,这款游戏规模和野心都很,因为它的寿命会很长。”

什么意思?一款游戏发售以后,几乎就是在等死了。除非这是一款具有在线功能的游戏。而他所说的“5到10年”的寿命,还有“整合云功能”,还有“保持玩家群体活跃和增长”,这些听上去全都像是一款网游,而不是前几部《神鬼寓言》中相对固定的游戏世界。

Lionhead所提及的云功能可能只是简单的定期通过网络更新剧情补丁包,不过Needham还曾说过,“《黑暗之魂》的在线模式就很好,我们非常想在《神鬼寓言:传奇》和其他正在制作的游戏中使用类似的设定。”不过据透露,目前《传奇》将为玩家提供3名AI队友一起冒险,这并不符合典型的MMO设定。

不过Peter Molyneux心中的《神鬼寓言》一直都应该是一款MMO,虽然他比较担心做成MMO以后就不会再有汪星人同伴了。如果城镇中的角色都是其他玩家,那么这些角色的真实度一定会超过任何NPC;如果游戏世界中的同伴都是你现实世界中的好友,那么你对这些同伴的感情一定会超过任何其他同伴。而且在这里玩家可以选择扮演英雄或者坏蛋,这个功能正是其他MMO缺少的。

目前,Lionhead仅仅确认有“在线功能”,没有透露更多。不过除了最明显的在线合作模式以外,有许多迹象表明这款游戏将面向网游玩家。接下来我们只能希望Lionhead不要对《神鬼寓言:传奇》采取月费制收费模式了。

  《神鬼寓言:传奇》将会以季的方式推出,还会包含DLC。游戏总监大卫埃凯尔贝透露他们正在考虑把游戏做成一个可以玩好多年的游戏。玩家可以长时间的玩游戏而不会因为过时了而放弃。

  大卫埃凯尔贝同时表示游戏的剧情是非常的重要的,同时还有更高的目标让故事情节与各种任务结合起来。不希望大家在游戏中玩结束。你能的得到新的章节的更新,游戏发售时的内容相当于第一季而之后我们还有大量的内容更新以DLC的方式。总之希望把游戏架构做成电视剧的状况,让大家不断的期待新的一集。

  《神鬼寓言:传奇|Fable Legends》是2013年8月公开的系列最新作,而日前开发商Lionhead公开了几张游戏的新图片,展示了虚幻引擎4的威力,同时也首次让大家见识到本作中动态光照的效果。

  根据开发小组的说法,他们在游戏开发初期就已经决定要为本作加入完全的动态光照效果。这种效果能够为一天的动态时间增加许多不同的变化,让游戏世界变得更加丰富多彩。





Dynamic Global Illumination in Fable Legends

Since Epic released the full Unreal Engine 4 to subscribers, we've had a number of questions about our dynamic global illumination tech, which Epic recently integrated into UE4. We wanted to take the opportunity to talk about why we developed this technology and how we're using it to make Fable Legends look amazing.

We made a decision early on to have fully dynamic lighting in our game. We think this is important for a number of reasons: It allows dynamic time of day, which adds variation to our world; it massively improves iteration times for artists; and it supports dynamic objects both reflecting and receiving light. Dynamic GI can also give higher quality results than baked lighting in some cases, for example, reflections, where lighting needs to take into account the view position.

Dynamic direct lighting has been around in games for a number of years, but dynamic indirect lighting (i.e bounce lighting or global illumination) – i.e. light bouncing off objects in the scene onto other objects - is a much harder problem to solve, so generally it either isn't computed dynamically, or a very simple representation is used (e.g. a single hemispherical light for the sky).

Unreal Engine 4 has an excellent deferred renderer, which supports physically-based materials and can support large numbers of lights efficiently. We did some work optimising UE4’s cascaded shadow maps (which Epic also integrated into Unreal), but the missing piece of the puzzle for us was dynamic indirect lighting.

Epic has previously researched a real-time GI method called SVOGI with promising results, but it was never quite fast enough. Of all the papers on the subject, Crytek's Light Propagation Volumes seemed like the best solution for our game. It was fast, scalable and could also support reflections and secondary occlusion. However, this method was a DirectX 9 implementation, and we felt we could do even better with modern DirectX 11-class hardware and the power of compute shaders.

We developed an implementation of Light Propagation Volumes, specifically targeted at modern GPUs (such as the one in Xbox One). Our method supports 2nd-Order Spherical Harmonics, which gives better directionality than the original method. We use compute shaders to generate a high quality voxel representation of the scene's geometry, which we use to provide secondary occlusion and multiple light bounces.

The comparison shows the difference dynamic GI makes in our game.

  Lionhead 官网前天公布了 4 人合作游戏《寓言传奇 | Fable Legends》的三张反派角色红帽子(Redcaps)的设定图。这些坏蛋的特征就是红色帽子,如果帽子掉落,或者红色变色,他们就会死掉,所以他们的帽子上有铁钉入脑固定。英雄用巨剑或者弓弩可以攻击帽子,可以有效地干掉他们。







Introducing: redcaps

One of the stranger and less imaginatively named creatures of the forest, redcaps are easily recognised by their well . . . by their red caps. Should they lose their crimson hats, or the cap lose its colour, then a redcap will die*. This threat renders this branch of forest fey both aggressive and highly wary of rain. Finding this limitation to their lifespans to be less than helpful, redcaps have taken to hammering nails into their own heads, thus securing their cap and preventing it from drying out. Fear of sudden death (added to having nails in their heads) has made redcaps a fairly psychotic bunch, prone to fits of violence and villainy.

From the halberd-armed foot soldier and catapult-toting skullchucks, to their will-using shamans, redcaps are a common sight in Rosewood and represent a real danger to the unwary traveller. Indeed fear of Redcaps is so rife, that it’s been known for travellers to meet a misfortunate end simply by wandering into a nervous village wearing the same coloured headgear.

*Of course, Heroes should note that hitting a redcap with a big pointy sword, or a crossbow bolt will do the job just as efficiently.

Fable Legends Pits One Villain Against Four Heroes

Set hundreds of years before the events of the original “Fable,” Lionhead Studios' upcoming “Fable Legends” combines co-operative multiplayer and storytelling in a fantasy world. A team of up to four players can take on hero roles drawn from classic RPG archetypes: protector, archer, rogue, and healer and more, each with looks and personalities that are uniquely “Fable.” Meanwhile, a fifth player takes on the role of the villain, setting up traps and generally doing his or her best to hinder the players’ progress.

Each of the four heroes has a complementary set of skills and abilities. The protector, for example, has a giant shield that can guard against splash damage, while the archer can knock enemies up into the air, giving players time to get to a safe distance. Cooperation is the name of the game, and to that end “Fable Legends” will offer full drop-in, drop-out functionality via Xbox Live. But don't worry if your friends are all offline; AI will take over any open slots, whether hero or villain.

But “Fable Legends” really comes into its own when a human takes on the villain role, popping up gates at inopportune moments to trap the players in with dangerous baddies, or leaving mines in hard-to-see spots. A clever villain can win a match by ensuring players never get to achieve their goals and complete their quests.

Despite being set much earlier than the first “Fable," graphics and art design are reminiscent of the original: colorful and vibrant, with plenty of touches from traditional medieval fantasy making an appearance. Goblin and gnoll-like creatures are common foes, hurling arrows and even explosives at the heroes. An early boss fight features a giant ogre that can unleash a “fart” weapon that can slow the players down and make them more vulnerable to further attacks -- but he has a weak point at his back. Heroes will want to exploit such enemy weaknesses by working together to corral them and attack at fragile points for critical hits. All the while, players must keep a constant eye on whether an ally has been knocked out, as they rely on each other for revival.

“Fable Legends” looks to be a cross-genre adventure that will challenge players’ co-operative skills -- and also leave plenty of room for those of us who’d prefer to be bad. You'll get a chance to see for yourself when the multiplayer beta launches this fall.

Fable Legends is free to play!

Since starting development on Fable Legends, we’ve had two clear goals in mind. First and foremost, we’re aiming to create an amazing, fun gaming experience for our players. The feedback we’ve had so far from players in our closed beta, fans we’ve met at shows, and the gaming press indicates we’re well on our way to realising our first goal!

Our second goal is to ensure the game we’re working to create is available to as many players as possible. The first step to make that happen came when we announced this year that Fable Legends will be cross-playable on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Today we’re announcing the next huge piece of news that’ll help us reach this goal.

Fable Legends will be free to play.

So what does free to play mean for Fable Legends? To help explain our approach to free to play, we’ve laid out three clear commitments:

Open

You’ll be able to play Fable Legends from beginning-to-end without spending a penny. That means you’ll have access to the entirety of Fable Legends’ storyline and all of the quests we release this year and forever.

Fair

Everything in Fable Legends that affects gameplay can be earned by simply playing the game.

Generous

Our goal is to have a happy community of players. We’ll be updating the game with exciting new quests to play through, Heroes to play as, Villain creatures to control, and lots more.

So how does Fable Legends work as a free to play game?

In Fable Legends, whether you’re adventuring as a Hero or smiting as a Villain, you will earn Silver to spend in-game. And everything that affects makes your characters or your creatures more powerful can be bought with the silver that you earn.

You’ll also be able to buy gold with real-world money, which can then be used to purchase many of the items that are also available for Silver.

Heroes of Albion!

• Hero Rotation - We’ll be launching Fable Legends with a wide array of unique Heroes. At any time, there will be four of these Heroes available to play for free. We will rotate the four Heroes available on free rotation, so you’ll have a chance to play them all!

Any progress you make with a Hero will be saved, and you’ll be able to pick up where you left off when they appear next on the free rotation. If you find a Hero you love, you can play them whenever you like by unlocking them with Silver or Gold. Once you’ve done that, they’re yours forever.

• Hero Customisation - Albion is brimming with exciting treasure waiting to be claimed. The loot you find playing the game is yours to keep, and you'll also be able to get your hands on additional treasure with either silver or gold.

Every Hero can also be customised, and we’ll have a host of interesting outfits, face variations and more available to unlock. A select few outfits are different, from the finest tailors and stylists in Albion they can only be bought with gold.

For the Villains!

• Creatures - As you progress therough the story you’ll come across all manner of mischievous creatures, and you’ll find that creatures are all native to specific areas of Albion. Using your silver or gold, you’ll be able to gain the allegiance of creatures and use them in any quest!

• Traps - A big part of playing the Villain is plotting new and inventive ways to entrap and destroy the Heroes. There will be many tools at your disposal, from magical healing stones to explosive mines, and you'll have the opportunity to unlock more traps using either silver or gold.

We want to make sure our approach to free to play gives everyone the freedom to enjoy the game to its full extent, and that’s exactly how we’ll continue to develop the game after launch.

Fable Legends open beta delayed to spring 2016

Fable Legends to Release Open Beta in Spring 2016

Fable Legends is coming together well and it’s a lot of fun. But we think that we can make it even better. So we’ve decided to extend our closed beta to continue to listen to feedback from our players and add features and polish that will make a real difference. This means Fable Legends won’t release into open beta this holiday as previously announced. We realise this may be disappointing for those of you not currently playing, so we wanted to tell you why.

To be honest, we didn’t anticipate just how big Fable Legends is becoming. It’s simply the most ambitious game we’ve ever created at Lionhead. We’ve built a unique and innovative multiplayer experience combining RPG and RTS gameplay which allows you to play, and use your gear seamlessly, across Xbox One and Windows 10. On top of this, we’ve built a beautiful new world full of grand stories and adventures. And it’s taking more time than we thought.

The team is working exceptionally hard and we’re proud of how far the game has come. We’re operating our closed beta 24/7 and have added lots more features, quests, creatures, and heroes to play. Hundreds of thousands of fans have participated in the beta so far, and we can’t wait to open it up for all of you to play. To achieve our aspirations for Fable Legends, we’ve moved our open beta release to spring of 2016. So to all of you who have been playing in our closed beta, and to all of you who have been waiting patiently for the game to release into open beta, we want to thank you on behalf of everyone at Lionhead.

  欧洲微软工作室总经理汉诺‧朗克(Hanno Lemke)3 月 7 日在 Xbox 官方信息网站 Xbox Wire 发表,将针对旗下团队与项目进行调整,中止 Xbox One / Windows 10 角色扮演游戏《神鬼寓言:传奇(Fable Legends)》的开发,同时计划关闭担任该游戏开发的英国 Lionhead 工作室。

  Press Play 工作室则是位于丹麦哥本哈根的游戏开发团队,2012 年被微软工作室收购。 旗下作品包括《涂鸦小英雄:兄弟之难》、《触须精灵:正在进入海豚体内》与《Kalimba》。

  《Project: Knoxville》是 Press Play 工作室于 2015 年 8 月透过投票所选出的游戏开发计划,制作团队将以玩家的意见做为开发的依据,让玩家透过活动专页发表对游戏开发的意见回馈。

Changes at Microsoft Studios, UK and Denmark

Today, I have some difficult changes to announce that affect some of our Microsoft Studios teams and projects in the UK and Denmark.

After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville.

These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams – we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios. The Lionhead Studios team has delighted millions of fans with the Fable series over the past decade. Press Play imbued the industry with a unique creative spirit behind games like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Kalimba, which both captured passionate fans. These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play.

I speak for all of Xbox when I say that despite this news, we remain committed to the development communities in the UK and Europe, and Xbox will continue to support new IP and originality in the games we offer on our platforms, whether they’re AAA blockbusters like Quantum Break from Remedy, adventurous new IPs like Sea of Thieves from Rare, or unique new creations from independent developers like Moon Studios with Ori.

We have nothing but heart-felt thanks for the members of Lionhead and Press Play for their contributions to Xbox and gaming. We are committed to working closely with those affected by today’s news to find them new opportunities at Xbox, or partnering with the broader development community to help place them in jobs elsewhere in the games industry should they desire.

SCE欧洲向Lionhead工作室成员伸出橄榄枝

  近日,微软旗下Lionhead工作室可能被关闭的消息成为了业界议论的焦点,如果该制作组真的被解散的话,相关工作人员又将何去何从?这时,微软的竞争对手索尼站了出来,PlayStation英国发推称,将在吉尔福德召开招聘会,接受简历的时间持续到2016年3月14日,而Lionhead工作室就位于吉尔福德。

Fable Legends may live on

It might not be game over for Lionhead's Fable Legends after all.

Three sources at the Xbox studio - which Microsoft announced it would close last month - have told MCV that discussions are on-going about saving the free-to-play RPG.

There are currently no offers for either the game or the studio, but staff are being surveyed as to whether they would like to continue working on Legends, or just accept the redundancy package that has been put before them and leave at the end of April. This is part of the consultation process Microsoft is conducting.

The majority of the freelancers working on Fable Legends have already left the studio, but those on contracts are still employed by the developer (even though many have been offered work at other companies).

One of the sources told MCV that this stems from a proposal from certain Lionhead employees about taking Fable Legends and continuing development as an independent studio. Our other two sources were unable to verify this claim, however.

A Microsoft spokesperson told MCV: “We aren’t sharing additional details beyond that we have ceased development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees at Lionhead about our proposed closure of the studio as well.”

Fable Fortune Leaves Early Access and Goes Free-To-Play This Month on PC and Xbox One

Developers Flaming Fowl Studios and Mediatonic announce today that Fable Fortune, the collectible card game set in the iconic world of the Fable series, will leave Early Access on February 22nd and land as a free-to-play title on Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10.

Over the last seven months in Early Access, Fable Fortune has flourished thanks to hard work and community feedback. Major new features include Heroic Tales, a single-player story mode allowing players to experience the dramatic histories of the game's hardy Heroes. Plus, a new emote system means players are able to communicate with their opponents — to congratulate, to mock, or just to fart in their general direction. It's all strictly tactical, of course.







Other shiny new additions include a Deck Helper and Guildmaster-led tutorial to help new players get into the game, a Daily Bounties system, rare Fancy cards to make mum proud, as well as smaller tweaks, convenient new features, and a treasure trove of new cards to be discovered. There's never been a better time to return to Albion.

Fable Fortune is a game of choice and consequence. In it, you take on the role of one of six Heroes in the ultimate battle for Albion. But will you be good or evil? Complete quests and choose your destiny to change your abilities and even the cards in your deck. Compete in leagues and events, or partner up with a friend and take on a boss or two in co-op mode.
