标题: language question!!! please kindly give your opinion
in a promotion, a retailer issues 1000 'Lucky Number' tickets for sale. 100 of these Lucky Numbers have a $50 prize, 20 have a $100 prize, 1 has a $1000 prize and the rest have no prize.
what do the rest mean by? rest of 100 or rest of 1000?
for my opinion the rest is mean the rest of 100.

Meaning 1000-100-20-1=?
? are those with no prize

the rest have no prize.
the rest = 1000(total)-100(50 prize)-20(100 prize)-1(1000 prize)=879(no prize)
any more problems ?

this is my trial exam math question, i'm confusing when exam, now i realize i'm wrong
because i do it by
100-1-20-1=78
i think the rest is 78, because there is no comma and the sentence is continuos..

i'm very confidence when doing math since my primary school...but when coming to college, i realize that the language also playing a role in math question. in past few exam, i keep confusing with the language like the problem above make me screw up my math exam and this is the last chance before the real exam, i'm very wondering my result now

So, what course are you taking now ? As it might requires a better English proficiency more than you think.

I'm taking A-level... I just finish my AS lessons, but the coming May will be my AS exam...maybe it really like what you said, it really requires a better English proficiency more than I think. My English always the worst to others language, I have no idea to improve my language. Since I need to sit for the IELT exam too after the course. I really need to practice my english but I don't know how to improve it

very emo now, the question keep remind my mistake in my mind

Rest of 1000 lucky numbers. After deducting the mentioned "quantities", not the "value". If u follow the trends of info, u will know how to solve. Hope this clears your doubt.
